Canadian Buffoon's Disney With a Teen Vacation - 08/13 - The Wrap

Oh, yes, he definitely gets to see and hear the acts. He even has a monitor in his office if he's stuck in there doing show paperwork or something. He said Cheap Trick was good, but very loud!

Cheap Trick.... loud? No!

:lmao:

The theater is incredibly busy, with at least one show a week (and often more).

That is busy! Holy cow!

The venue is small but they book a wide variety of acts. Since the end of August he's hosted acts like Big Bad Voodoo Daddy, Bob Marley's band the Wailers, Collective Soul, Delbert McClinton, Molly Ringwald doing commentary at a showing of The Breakfast Club, an awesome band I had never heard of called Here Come the Mummies (check them out on Youtube!), Ani di Franco, and several others. Coming up this week is Kansas (for 2 shows), and in the upcoming few months he's got the America's Got Talent tour, Night Ranger, Clint Black, lots of Christmas shows including Wizards of Winter, Rockapella, A John Waters Christmas, the Ten Tenors and Michael McDonald, comedy shows from Carrot Top, Craig Ferguson and Jane Lynch, and many more! Literally every time I check the show schedule online they've added acts!

Those acts are all over the map.
But I have to say that I'm reading and all of a sudden "Molly Ringwald"....
Talk about doing a double take!

Our party was sold out, but I have no complaints about the crowds.

You're the first, then.

Granted, we don't do character meet and greets

Ditto.

and we didn't hit the trick or treat areas,

No? We had a blast doing that.
Then again, our DDs were little at the time.

but we had no problem finding good spots to watch the parade and Hallowishes,

Not surprised. A sold out MNSSHP is still a lot less than a sold out MK I would think.

We rode everything we wanted to ride, including 7DMT right after Hallowishes. It took us 25 minutes total to walk through the line and ride.

Not bad!

We were asked to show our party bands multiple times throughout the night, and I only personally saw one group that didn't have them, and all they were doing was sitting at a table next to me while their kids were at one of the early dance parties.

Did they get kicked out? Or did you leave before anything happened?
(If anything did.)

My favorite moment of the night was seeing the Headless Horseman,

::yes:: That's so cool, isn't it?

and I was blown away by all of the special music and lighting effects all over the park.

Man I'd love to go back and see what they've done since we were there last. (2009)

Our only disappointment was that they had a technical glitch right before Celebrate the Magic and they had to cancel the show. I have to say that I think I actually enjoyed this party more than MVMCP, which I've attended twice.

Too bad about the show being cancelled, but as long as the parade goes and Hallowishes goes... I'd be happy.

Never been to MVMCP, but I can't imagine liking it more than MNSSHP.

De-lurking to say how much i am enjoying this TR.

Hey! I remember you! (I do! I really do!)
Nice to see you again! :goodvibes

Been off the Dis for a while (the last trippy I read was some yahoo who drove around Niagara Falls with giant puffy tutus in his trunk!)

What kind of an idiot would do something like that???

but right now my DD is upstairs NOT SPEAKING TO ME so I have some time to enjoy myself, for a change. (....bliss...)

::yes:: Yup. They think they're "punishing" us. I usually look at Ruby, she looks at me, and we laugh.
"Peace and quiet! Yay!"

We went to Uni Labor Day week and nearly melted into Diagon Alley so I feel your pain.

Wasn't it stupid hot? I mean... ridiculously hot!

Heading back to Disney 1st week of Feb so it should be much much cooler.

Yep. Lots.
My previous TR is about my solo trip in February.
Much, much cooler!

Glad you're back. Hope you'll pop in from time to time! :)

Oh my! I think I forgot to mention how brave you were for enduring Small World unscathed! You truly are your daughter's knight who protected her from an army of small soldiers from across the world. :music:Will that due?:thumbsup2

::yes:: That'll do!

Wow! Not sure I should answer that.

Dang.

Halloween is coming up and stealing a Snickers from one of my kids' candy stash sure would make the day better. Is that even allowed though? Did you ever steal candy from your kids? Shame on me for thinking it!:sad2:

There was this one Halloween.
We ran out of stuff and a small group of kids showed up before we could turn out the lights.
I grabbed some chips from our kids' stash (They had tons) and gave 'em out.
The kids were not overly happy, but were okay with it.
Ruby on the other hand was very upset.

I think she wanted to steal them for herself!

Ok. I got out of that easily.

Even I will occasionally give a pretty girl an easy out.

Nope. Sweet, kind, and knows how to crunch numbers.

Hmmm.... I really don't know how to feel about this.
On the one hand, I'm not afraid of bodily harm now.
On the other, it seems unlikely that you'll run off with me.

Ah, well. Now I don't have to explain it to Ruby.

That's what I said about seeing the Osborne Lights. DH is the practical engineer though and boycotted my idea. We go next November. The rate you're going you could go again this December and take the pictures of the lights for me. I'd love to read a last minute trip report from you focusing on Disney at Christmas. You could make it a big Christmas gift for your family!!!:woohoo:

 Sorry. Pretty sure that's not going to happen.

I hear you! I haven't slept in 9 years!:coffee:

We got off relatively lucky.
With Elle, we were up for three and a half years.
With Kay? Not at all. She slept through the night from the day we brought her home.
Well there was a short period when she got up.
And of course there's the times when she was sick or had ear infections.
But generally, only Elle kept us up.

Little ingrate.

They're worth it though.

Until they start breaking stuff.
Then we wonder....

I see my baby, knowing he's our last, and I enjoy each precious moment. Even the nights when he screams and only can be consoled by Mama. I need to get all those snuggles now. My mom always says, "A son's a son until he takes a wife. A daughter's a daughter all of her life." I hope my boys prove her old wives tale wrong.:grouphug:

I believe that.

oh the pics on the tea cups amazing... I think we all here appreciate how you go the extra mile for us here, going back and finding pics from before to put up with the current pics is a great touch

Thanks Betsey! :)

I honestly can't remember if I have any more of those, though.
But I appreciate you saying that.

Okay, I'm back from DLR and midterm, survived the midterm, loved DLR.

Congrats on surviving midterms!

So you had a good time at DLR, did you?

Now I am caught up and I must say that you should be awarded knighthood for the fact that you survived IASW! Praise to the Pkondz

A knighthood? Yes, that would be appropriate, I think.

Pirates is closed, Jungle Cruise instead, No fast pass for Ariel, The Plaza for your next ADR, The Wave for your 3rd, No

Noted.

just kidding

No she's not!

Kay had asked me to try to wake her around 8:30.
"Try" being the operative word.
I really didn't know if she'd get up much before noon, honestly.
But I dutifully slammed a pillow down on her head around 8:30.

She got up at 8:35!
I couldn't believe it!
Maybe being in WDW has a restorative effect on human sleep cycles.
Wow! I guess you should try to suffocate her every morning if that works so well!

Down four flights (four.... why did it have to be four?),
Would you prefer five?

A word to the wise. If you buy a sewing kit at WDW,
just throw out the scissors and use your teeth.
Trust me. You'll thank me for it.
Or just plan ahead and bring the crap that you need. :rolleyes1

It was a moot point since a MK bus pulled up as I asked the question.
"Never mind. Our bus is here."
Wow. I really need to re-think my 271.

Once again, Kay had some trouble with the finger scan.
This time, she made sure to use her thumb as previously directed.
And it didn't work so the CM told her to try her finger.
Yep. That worked.

What???

So she was told to always use her finger from now on.
:confused3
Well, I guess if at first you don't succeed, keep trying different fingers.

Whichever... hot!
We ducked into the Confectionery and cut through as many stores as we could.
Good idea!

Man I love this ride!!!
And yet... Even though I made a note...
Even though I told Kay...
Even though she said she wanted to...

Somehow, I still haven't ridden it at night!
You really need to rectify this situation. Major fail.

After riding what is arguably one of the best rides in Disney,
(and if you argue that it isn't, you will officially be deducted two points)
Well, I certainly won't argue this.

The wait time was posted as 35 minutes which we figured wasn't too bad.
No. Especially since Kay has made it clear that she is willing to wait even longer than that for something like Dinosaur.

The line slowly snaked its way towards the loading area.
Interspersed along the way were round vent holes in the ceiling.
And cold air was blowing out of these vents.
I would position myself under one and breathe!... pause....
and then scurry to catch up to the end of the queue and pray
for the next vent.
And this is why the line wasn't moving while you were outside... :rolleyes1

Soon we were boarding our log.
Which sounds really weird, doesn't it?
Yes. Yes it does.

I tried to lighten the mood a bit,
but she just complained about "Dad jokes".
I'm always throwing out a poor pun or weak joke as I think of them.
Kay refers to them as "Dad jokes".
Usually she just rolls her eyes, or shakes her head.
(And once in a very rare while, she chuckles.
She has no clue that keeps me going.)
Dad jokes... I can hear the groans and see the eye rolls already.

DSC09492b2_zpsfqcx7t3x.jpg
Of all the great Splash pictures I've seen, this is among the best. Well done! :worship: :thumbsup2

She rudely told me that "We don't do that!"
and refused to help me.
I thanked her politely, left, and now I refuse to eat there
because "I just don't do that!"
Yeah, I wouldn't do that either. Not just because she was rude but... you know, Chinese food... "I don't do that." :rotfl2:

And of course Kay and I didn't fight at all on the ride.
She loved it and while we weren't busy planning our poses,
she was laughing and enjoying the whole thing.
Me too!
I'm glad that you didn't have to deduct points from Kay because she doesn't like Splash.

I stood there dumbly for a second until Kay said,
"You can still use them, they just won't be as comfortable."
I stuck it in my ear.
It hurt a little.
But the pain was nothing in comparison to the agony I would otherwise suffer.
Well, you gotta do what you gotta do. A little pain is better than a lot of suffering.

We boarded our boat and set out.
Kay listened to some Ghosttown, Linkin Park and Three Days Grace.
I started off with some classic Who.
I think your original soundtrack of AC/DC with some Linkin Park is probably what I'd go for.

Kay quickly piped up in my ear, "Dad jokes for the dead."

I just about killed myself laughing.
:rotfl2::rotfl::lmao: She's way funnier than you are.

"Hey! Wait a second! You said you didn't get an ADR for BOG!
What gives?!? We want our money back!"

I did say that, didn't I?
And it's true, too.
Technically... no! You had an ADR! Maybe not to start with, but you had an ADR!

I pointed out the Pantsless Prince as we passed by and continued out
onto the bridge.
I always just kind of wonder who looked at that picture and gave it a green light. I mean, wouldn't somebody at some point before that stained glass is hanging in BOG think "Hey! It looks like the prince doesn't have any pants!" I mean it is Disney! Details are everything!

"You can ride it by yourself, then. I'm not going on that thing." I retorted.
"But it won't be any fun by myself." She wheedled.

Crap.

You already know the outcome of this, right?
::yes:: You're screwed.

The last time I'd been on this ride was 10 years ago.
The scenery looked like this:

DSC09534b_zps8ueua2wg.jpg

Now it looked like this:

DSC09534_zpstalb61bn.jpg
Wow... again, I love the trip through time.

In some ways, the scenery's changed a lot, in others, not so much.
::yes::

Either way, although I really didn't want to ride it,
it turned out to be one of my favourite moments.

Who knew?
I can definitely understand this. Just enjoying each others company and having some silly fun. Those are definitely the moments that you tend to remember when you look back.

Ariel, being totally clueless, is very happy with her little statue.
The fish, being not dense, tell her it's actually an ornate flask,
but tell her it's filled with a magical wishing potion.
Of course it's actually filled with 80 proof vodka...
Vodka? I thought it was rum!

Because what self-respecting guy is gonna buy a drink
for a chick with a fin instead of legs? Am I right?

Yeah, I would. But I said "self-respecting"...
I'm glad you clarified. Because we totally know you'd do it.

Unfortunately, the first dude she sees is about as dense as she is.
So even though she's throwing every trick in the book at him,
the guy doesn't clue in that she wants him to kiss her.
This, of course, is every male on the planet in a nutshell.
If you don't come right out and say "Hey stupid! Kiss me!"
we just aren't going to get it.
:rotfl2::rotfl::lmao:

But then who shows up to ruin everything?
Dad!
Because that's what Dads do.
Prevent boys from kissing their daughters, of course...
Exactly! I'd expect him to be holding a shotgun, but I guess if you're that big and basically considered the god of the ocean, a trident will suffice.

So naturally, one thing leads to another, and the next thing you know,
the poor sap is roped into a wedding with a girl he hardly knows.
I mean, look at his face!
Ok, your version of this story is way better than the original. :thumbsup2:rotfl2:

Disney Transportation Wait Time to date (5 busses): 5 minutes
Um... I'm going to change to 63.5 minutes.

What ride do we try to ride, but it's closed?
I'm going to go against the grain... Pirates

What ride do we go on instead?
Jungle Cruise

Do we get a FP for Ariel? Or not?
No

We do have another meal, you know.
It's in MK and it's an ADR.
And it's not BOG!
So, where is it?
Again... I'll go against the grain. Dessert at the Plaza. A/C and Ice Cream.

We have a third ADR for later in the evening.
It's not in MK, or any park, or in DTD.
Guesses?
Ohana

Do we stay for Wishes? Or does our ADR prevent that?
Wishes from the Poly

You will wonder if I'm crazy... wait... You already do that.
We don't wonder if you're crazy. We know. :thumbsup2 :rotfl:

But I dutifully slammed a pillow down on her head around 8:30.

typical dad move!

Confused?

Always :rotfl:

Yes?

YES!

While Kay was busy making herself beautiful,
well, more beautiful I suppose

AWWW, Dad's getting on the good side again with the flattery

Total wait time for the morning bus: zero minutes.
It was 9:56am.
Unbelieveable your luck is with the transportation so far! I'm gonna have to change my guess, I guess!

But not for long.
We have rides to ride!
Heat to avoid!

Hot!

Funny, I don't remember you mentioning it was hot yet

Our first Fastpass time was already due, so we turned left...

DSC09467_zpsnxtdyzyl.jpg

Stunning photo! I love the reflection of the castle in the water

scanned our bands,
and were on board in just a few minutes.
What can I say about BTMRR....

Man I love this ride!!!
Me too! My favorite!

After riding what is arguably one of the best rides in Disney,
(and if you argue that it isn't, you will officially be deducted two points

Not going to argue, it's the BEST!

I totally gave up.
I threw in the towel.
I whipped out my iPod, right there in the middle of the ride,
Googled the nearest Chinese restaurant and placed an order.
For delivery.

AHHH, you almost had me there!

Kay had some Shi Jo King and I had the Hai Am Ki Ding

:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
Be Our Guest!

Sneaky bugger you are!

Within moments, our food arrived.
We had both ordered identical meals:
The Braised Pork with a Master's Cupcake for dessert.
As the previous time I had this, I really enjoyed it.
Kay was a little less enthusiastic about her meal,
it was a little too rich for her.
But we both enjoyed the cupcakes!

That is exactly what I had when we had lunch at BOG! I thought it was great

But I did get her waterfall picture, so it's all good, right?

DSC09531_zpsldolndsd.jpg

Very good!

I then posed and she took this picture, just for you guys.

DSC09527_zpsuod0xp7t.jpg

He's an ugly little critter, isn't he?

The resemblance is astonishing!

Dad, can we ride the tea cups?" She innocently asked.
"Sorry, no. It'll make me feel sick." I replied.
"Awww... but I want to ride it." She reasoned.
::yes:::scared1:

Bonus questions, round 5!
What ride do we try to ride, but it's closed?

What ride do we go on instead?

Do we get a FP for Ariel? Or not?

We do have another meal, you know.
It's in MK and it's an ADR.
And it's not BOG!
So, where is it?

We have a third ADR for later in the evening.
It's not in MK, or any park, or in DTD.
Guesses?

Do we stay for Wishes? Or does our ADR prevent that?

Pirates is the ride that's closed
No FP for Ariel
Next ADR is at Tony's
Third ADR is Beaches and Cream
I'm thinking you don't stay for wishes cuz of the ADR

I've been doing terribly at the game but I'm going to take the hit in points anyway ( any prizes for fewest points?) and change my transportation guess to 60 min total

Congrats on surviving midterms!

So you had a good time at DLR, did you?

I got my mark back and I did more than survive, I thrived!

Excellent time, now looking into planning WDW trip! You are my inspiration.

I will be writing my own trip report!

A knighthood? Yes, that would be appropriate, I think.

Well, I will call the queen, see if she can book you in.

Oh no I'm slipping in the contest. It's all because of BOG. I figured you were too late to get that reservation.

Flattery time - this is my favourite trip report and it's the only one I'm posting on. I also haven't posted on any trip report since 2008. See, yours is special.

I have tomorrow off so I'll have time to reply to your update :)

And the adventure continues...

Oh, goody! I love an adventure! Where are we going??

Well, I personally haven't found this to be true, but good for Kay for planning an early morning. I may never know what I am missing about RD excitement myself.

I love the empty park and getting on a ride in seconds rather than hours.

These pictures look great. I can't imagine having that much space, to just soak in the sunshine... :smooth: I mean, not like it was really hot, right?

Hot? Hmmm.... I don't know. Can't seem to recall....
Oh! That's right! It was hot!
And the place was packed just moments earlier.
Except most people just spontaneously combusted,
so that's why there's so much empty space.

Ok, you had me worked up into righteous Mom indignation about ungrateful children at this point. I'm really glad that things actually went so well!

 Gotcha!

Not that I'd want to risk point deduction in possible detracting from BTMR, but isn't that swoop of PP just the best?

::yes::

I will never forget the first time.
I had no idea it was going to do that.

I just about lost my mind.

I'd love an entire ride of just flying over London over and over... Sigh...

I was thinking about that.
Imagine this. Combine PP over London with Soarin' and IASW.
Have the ride "fly" like PP. Have several rooms where you fly over different cities with easily recognizable landmarks.
Rome/coloseum, Paris/Eifel Tower, London/Big Ben (natch), Venice/St. Mark's...

Just no horrible music, please.

Why yes, now that you mention it, that is exactly where I am. In. Awe. That's. Me.

And so you should be!

I still have problems picking out my favorite part of the queue. And the attraction. I'd have to go with the ghostly dancing scene, which is tied by the singing heads at the end of the ride.

Hmmm.... Hmmm..... So many.
Definitely the dance scene for sure, plus...
The hands trying to lift up the coffin lid. (My first memory of HM from TV before we even went.)
The small bride at the end "Hurry back!"
The entire grave yard scene.
Oh! The cemetary keeper and his dog.

Oh... Just too many to list.

A little bit in awe over this as well.

I was more relieved than anything!

But I'm glad that Kay's pixie dust was consistently wonderful today!

She was on a roll!

Well, this seems quite different than what I remember. I think I need to go back and research this in person!

Pretty accurate, I think you'll find.

Well, I have absolutely no idea. Jungle Cruise?

Pirates of the Caribbean

No

Tony's Town Square

The Wave

No, your ADR conflicts with Wishes, but you watch from the Contemporary

Noted.

Well, as you saw, I might have overstated a tad.

Just a tad, though.

How you failed to make RD when Kay was awake by 8:35 astounds me....

You don't know Kay.
You'll notice that it was over an hour from the time she woke up
to the time we were at the bus.

This is standard for her.

You were looking close enough to tell their genders?

1. You can tell from their outfits.
2. None of them wear pants.

Maybe Kay has magical fingerprints that change fingers during the night? I’m sure there would be a way to make money out of that skill.

I forsee a life of crime....
I wonder if she can do that trick with her DNA too.

Much better use of a FP than 7DMT anyway – or maybe I’m biased as its my favourite ride in the entire world (I think I’ve pointed that out to you more than once but it obviously bears repeating!)

This is the way I see it.
I wanted to ride 7DMT because: a) it's a coaster and not bad (not great, but not bad) b.) Kay had never been on it.
But I much, much prefer BTMRR.
So if I ride 7DMT once in a trip, I'm good.
But BTMRR needs to be done several times.

I knew there was a reason I liked you...

Awww....

Wait.
That's the only reason?
What about my rugged good looks, my incredible charm and rapier like wit?

No argument here – I’ll even throw a parade to support your claims.party:

Sweet! My very own parade!

Best. Disney. Photo. Ever.

Bravo.

 Thanks! :goodvibes

Some people’s stupidity astounds me. I hope you’ve got a new favourite local Chinese place and that you order take out from them and then walk past Miriwa doing your best Julia Roberts

chinese-jpg.131391

Oh, we have a much better place to go to.
It's where we would go when the other place was closed
(closed on Mondays and sometimes for a few weeks in winter).
But not no more.

I'd love to do the Julia Roberts thing... if I could figure out how.

But I'm just not going to eat at Miriwa... on St. Mary's Rd.... in Winnipeg.
And if someone else from the 'Peg hears about it and they tell everyone they know...

Well, things like that happen sometimes, no?

Kay’s starting to sound like she’s part fairy with all this pixie dust she’s getting.

I checked for wings... but she quickly turned her back away from me.

And make sure you have a long enough playlist. IASW is a lot longer than you remember when your playlist cuts out half way through!

I do know. The first time I did it and my iPod cut out....
Well, I'm not ashamed to admit that I panicked a little.

Braver than this guy that’s for sure

brave-jpg.131390

And definitely braver than this dude.
croc-jpg.131392

Fairly accurate.

But that last picture.
Ever seen those videos where suddenly the gator/croc bites?
And the guy's got his hand stuck?

And then there's this guy with his head in there....

Oy.
Is that brave? Or nuts???

So you did have an ADR? This contest is confusing and making my brain hurt.

I did not get an ADR when I originally booked all my restaurants.
Got one later...

Not a sucker. But a great dad :thumbsup2

Aw, shucks.

I don’t believe. I mean I’m reading it and you’re telling us about it, but I still don’t believe it.

I hardly believe it myself, actually.

Best. Ride. Description. Ever.

You’re on fire today.

Why thank you very much! :goodvibes

Well pirates had been closed for ages and you would have known that so I’m going to go with Space Mountain as it went down a few times when I was there the week before you.

Because it’s next door to my previous answer I’m going to go with Carousel of Progress

Yes because there are always FPs available for her M&G.

I’m going to stick with the Plaza.

If you’ve already eaten dinner I’m going to say it’s not one of the ones close to MK like Ohana’s or any of the ones at the contemporary, so I’ll say Beaches & Cream as that’s where I’d go.

If wishes were at 9 I’d say you stayed but it was at 10 that night so you left to go to B&C and saw wishes on another night.

Noted.

Colour me intrigued.

That's puce, right? Or is it umber?

Nope, that’s the beauty of the designation.
You can still wallop her with a pillow any time you please, but by governmental decree you’d be compelled to do so on that day. It’s a win, win situation…
you get to bash the kid a good one while not having to take any of the blame for you actions.

Good to know.
Well, not good for her, but...

Right Mark? (well see if he’s reading all this or not)

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say.... no.

Sorry ‘bout that…
It must have been the drugs talking.
I took more, so it should be all good now.

…whoa… look at all the pretty colours!

Have another brownie.

But oddly in this instance I was generally fascinated.
I guarantee you I’d have stood there and watched them pass by with just as much interest.

Ah. Misread that one.
It was a little... surreal.

Well, actually she’s an unwilling participant so it a much darker story of control and exploitation.

The dark side of Disney.

I'd probably go see that. :rolleyes1

Yes Master, Igor is but a lowly servant who wishes no more than to do Master’s bidding…
Do you wish me to go and retrieve Hans Delbrück’s brain form the repository now?

No, it's fine. I'll settle for this one that you brought... Abby Normal.

You’d think, wouldn’t ya’.
But I know me…
I’m pretty dense.

At last! Someone reading this TR of like mind!

I suspect she probably would have.
We’ve actually done it twice over the years and have found it to be a nice little diversion, but one with up sides and down sides depending on each person’s taste and expectations.

I actually wrote up a bit on it in the TR for our last actual stay On World. It’s toward the bottom of this update here: Chapter-8/Part-4: Things that go Boom

…but knowing the author as I do, I wouldn’t necessarily recommend spending a whole lot of time reading it.

Did read it, well... I'm a little short on time, so just the Dessert Party part.

Ahhh, but where would the film industry be without that odd fish-tail fetishist?

Sunk.

ARGH. I totally typed up a whole reply and the Dis went Haywire on me. Let's do this again, I guess . . . .

Oh.... crap. That sucks!
But next time, try this. It works pretty often.
If you've typed a bunch of stuff and your browser freezes or the DIS crashes,
or whatever.
Exit right out of all browser windows you have open.
Re-open your browser and go back to the thread you were commenting on.
There's a pretty good chance that it will be sitting there waiting for you.
(Might have a word or sentence missing, but most of it should be there.)

First of all, I kind of feel like I should change my guess on total time waiting for transportation. But I am way too stubborn to do that and maybe you'll have to wait like 5 hours for the Magical Depress Bus or something. . . So I am going to stick it out!

Noted!

Big Thunder- Of course it is one of the Best Rides in WDW! After all it is called 'the wildest ride in the wilderness'!

::yes::

Surviving Small World is really all any good WDW visitor can hope for- Especially a BRAVE soul like yourself.

I couldn't agree more.

Haunted Mansion is my favorite ride as well. It's all about the details for me. I just had to replace my phone and my old case doesn't fit anymore. Must. Find. New. One.

You have a HM phone case!?!? Nice!
(Although not so much if it doesn't fit now... still...)

I kind of like your new version of the Little Mermaid. I find it much more believable that she came to the human world for cocktails than for some guy she saw ONCE. Priorities.

Okay, now for the guesses that will earn me maybe 3.56 points in the next round . . .
Ride closed? Space Mountain
Ride that you do instead? Tomorrowland Transit Authority
FP For Ariel? Yes, I think you get one. After all, she needs to meet more men that might help her get her drink on.
Dinner? I am going to go with Crystal Palace.
Third ADR? I am going with Beaches and Cream for some late night ice cream treats.
Wishes? I think you will see it. I don't believe much can drag you away from Wishes (though I think Kay has a much better chance than most!).

Noted.

Okay, then I'll change my time from 360 to 75... Going with my gut...

Noted.

Yeah, I've heard that is the best place to sit. Then I'm afraid once I get in line and up there, when it's my turn, I wont get back row. Or can you ask? I'm sure I could, right?

You definitely can! That's what I've done every time I've been on it lately.
(Last trip and now this one.)

HAHA, YES! He is pretty good about keeping non-food items out of his mouth. He LOVES food! He is a much better eater at 18 months, than my 7yo!

Well, that's good!

YAY! I finally think I figured out how to multi-quote correctly! GO ME!!!

You got it!!

(it's the small/little things that make my day that much brighter ;)
Not that it seems that difficult, but I am blonde :upsidedow... And somewhat sleep-deprived mama:coffee:... So there's that haha! :rotfl2:

So many strikes against you!!
(My DSis is a blonde... she once made the mistake of saying she hates "blonde" jokes....)

A chorus of angels sang. A rainbow appeared and a unicorn flew by...

Love this photo...

Thanks! And here I wasn't even going to include it.

I gotta admit, you really got me with this one! Especially since I had a lot of those same thoughts going through my own mind when we were riding it! My own dd was also not impressed - but she didn't ask for food!

Gotcha!

Yup, you definitely got me with that one! But I can see where planning your poses would definitely spice it up!

It definitely adds to the fun! :)

So brave...

So true...

Yay, points! Although you did get me on the BOG ADR, too...

Sorry about that...

And those might be my first bonus points that weren't a gimme!

Really? I wonder if you'll get more? :confused3

Going with the consensus of POTC since you didn't take as much time to plan.

And of course Jungle Cruise would be full of Dad jokes.

Going with yes on this one.

Plaza

Beaches and Cream sounds good

Which would mean you miss Wishes

Noted.

Oh yes, I am in complete and utter awe of your bravery for going on Small World and not hearing the song.

You are? Huh.
I'll be darned.

Love rides at RD...that's the only time to experience no-waits nowadays I think!

Between that and FP, there's no other (reasonable) way to go.

Awesome! Some places are like that about cups too...so annoying.

::yes:: And I was willing to pay for them.
I was willing to pay extra for them!

One of my faves too...love the flying. I also love London so maybe that has something to do with my love for PP.

Maybe mine too. I'd been to London before I'd ever been on PP.

The scenery on that one is so awesome too.

::yes::

Funny about the tea cups. I didn't go on that on our last trip with DD because I thought I'd puke...maybe...I should have..? Who knows. Glad you had fun on it though!!

Maybe you should have? Because you wanted to puke?

I don't know whether to say "Cool!" or "Ew!"

:lmao:

We actually went on Ariel quite a few times because...there usually wasn't a long wait lol

I have a feeling it's going to be like The Seas at Epcot.
Massive queue. No one in it.

Sorry for my absence! Fall is a CRAZY time at work for me, and I tend to lose DIS time!

But you're here now! :goodvibes

Yes. Yes it is. ::yes::

Soooo good!

Picture-wise the chicken looks mouth-watering... but as I've eaten the pot roast, I know that's delicious as well. I can practically taste both of them!

If I get back there, I'm going to have to go back to that chicken, though.
Have to remember not to eat for a couple of days before, though.

Bravo on scoring a BOG reservation! I think (almost) every ADR is possible after the magical "180" cutoff if you're willing to put in some work to get it.

Still couldn't get one for the Dessert party though.
Dang.

I love the food (French onion soup! Mussels!), but I really LOVE the décor in that restaurant. It's SO well done.

Plus, they have cupcakes. it's really a triple win. :goodvibes

::yes:: Haven't had the mussels though. But everything else? Yup!

I'm glad you enjoyed it! I've always loved the teacups, so I'm glad you gave them a shot!

Me too! But unless I'm forced on it, it's doubtful that I'll ride it again.

Good grief, you had AWESOME luck on your bus wait times!

So far, so good!

You have to have an agonizingly long wait at some point, right? RIGHT?!

Yes! Or... No! Or.... Maybe!

Just in case, I'm revising my total wait time to 180 minutes. :-)

Noted.

I'm a bit behind on the point game, but I'll try and add a few more:

I would say 7DMT had "technical difficulties" and you had to grab a new FP+.

That led to you riding the Space Mountain instead.

You did get a FP for Ariel, but not today!

Your dinner ADR was at Cinderella's Royal Table, later followed by some awesome ice cream at ADR location #3, Beaches and Cream.

I'm afraid Wishes will have to wait for another night!

Noted.

and we all know how important staying regular is....

Oh my. Yes. Yes indeedy.

great splash story and great pic

Thanks! :goodvibes

I am in awe for you going on little mermaid... we have that one out here and of course lil miss scarlett is crazy for it so when we are at dca it is a must poor lance took her on it last time and it seemed that they were on for a long time, they got stuck on it during the "under the sea" song. he said scarlett loved it but a few more minutes and he would have gone catatonic..... sure it is cute but after 15 minutes he was done....

 Poor Lance!
I suppose it could be worse... stuck on IASW (with no headphones), but still!
The horror!

I still think you all will hit tony's for an adr
as for your out of the park meal thinking.. 1900 park fair for the character meal
no fp for ariel but you do go to see tink
I think you try to ride COP and it is closed but end up on buzz lightyear instead

Noted.

oh I also think Ponzi needs to make a calendar with some of these great pics that pic of the castle is one of the best I have ever seen

Wow! Thanks!
Uh, which castle picture in particular?

yeah you do head back to the park for wishes

Noted.

I mean really it is a vacation, you can sleep on the plane home right?

::yes::

Still have a few more shout-outs but I'm a bit burnt out right now.
Been up since 5 am for work and won't get to bed until after 7am.
See ya'll later.

But...

Did you miss my post or intentionally skip it?

Nope. Neither.
I was posting shout-outs and a couple somehow moved and I replied to them out of order.
You'll have noticed that I replied to your comment already.

But thanks for the head's up! I'm always afraid that I'll miss someone.

I won't soon forget this day.
Some bad things happened.

I'm still scratching my head on what bad things happened???? :confused3

OK I started writing my responses before I had read all your shout outs. Now I see you explained it later.

But I dutifully slammed a pillow down on her head around 8:30.

She got up at 8:35!
I couldn't believe it!

That's an interesting method for waking someone up. I don't think that would go over well for me.

(corner room, remember? No? Why not?
Are you not hanging on to every single word I type?)

Well of course I am! :thumbsup2

Confused?

::yes::

Five ducks were waddling across the intersection in single file.
Obviously, Donald, Daisy and Huey, Dewey, and Louie.

Well obviously.

A word to the wise. If you buy a sewing kit at WDW,
just throw out the scissors and use your teeth.
Trust me. You'll thank me for it.

Noted. Never used moleskin, don't remember actually having any blisters. I'm such a wuss that my feet and legs give out before I can get blisters!

Total wait time for the morning bus: zero minutes.
It was 9:56am.

I think my guess is still gonna be way off! Unless you have a couple long waits coming up.

We were briefly held up as the guard asked a CM if my
Gorilla pod was allowed. It was. It doesn't extend.

I had to Google this. It looks quite handy! I may put this on my Christmas list.

Splash! And walked right on by it since our FP was for BTMRR.

Ugh! I better get better at my answers in this contest.

(And some of you are already mentally calculating your points...
No rope drop, BTMRR, 7DMT and... what? What??????)

Yup. ::yes::

After riding what is arguably one of the best rides in Disney,
(and if you argue that it isn't, you will officially be deducted two points)

No argument there.

Kay had some Shi Jo King and I had the Hai Am Ki Ding

I'm sure glad you explained this one because I was just thinking WHAT???????? :confused3

Great photo though! I am going to have to get more creative and bring props for future shots! I love that idea! I have a ton of those Chinese food containers, bought them at the Costco business outlet for a catering thing once and only used about a dozen. I still have like a hundred of them left!

Are you not in awe??
Bonus points if you say you are.
Be superfluous wit

This is an incredible idea! I have the utmost respect for you and can't believe how you came up with it! I don't even have a playlist, so there would be a whole learning curve there for me, I'm now wanting to learn how to figure it out! I do love your choices of music as well. I have some very fond adolescent memories of happenings while listening to AC/DC and you can never go wrong with the Who. Kay's music, well I do have to say that I am woefully out of touch. I'm not sure I could tell you about any band beyond the mid 70's and I have not heard of the groups you mentioned that she listened to. I have been exposed to a few tunes, via the Classic Rock station, of bands who came later, but I'm not familiar with much new rock beyond 1980. The idea of Rockin' through IASW really intrigues me and I'm going to have figure out how to try it some time. I'm sure the entire ride has a completely different feel to it!

Be Our Guest!

"Hey! Wait a second! You said you didn't get an ADR for BOG!
What gives?!? We want our money back!"

I'm going to have to realize that if you can pull the wool over our eyes, and bait and switch you'll do it every time!

The Braised Pork with a Master's Cupcake for dessert.
As the previous time I had this, I really enjoyed it.
Kay was a little less enthusiastic about her meal,
it was a little too rich for her.

I think I might try this when we (hopefully) get a dinner ADR here in May.

He's an ugly little critter, isn't he?
And yet... if you look at him, you sort of pity him a little, don't you?
But enough about me. Moving on with our story...

:rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl

"Dad, can we ride the tea cups?" She innocently asked.

 If it's simply a problem with puking, that's easy. I have Benign paroxysmal positional vertigo and things like spinning can trigger it. I made the mistake of riding Forbidden Journey at US/IOA and was dizzy and sick for about 2 hours afterwards. Not fun. At least if you just get motion sickness, you feel better once the contents have evacuated the person. ;laughing:

The fish, being not dense, tell her it's actually an ornate flask,
but tell her it's filled with a magical wishing potion.
Of course it's actually filled with 80 proof vodka...

I think Tequila would be more fun, she'd be spinning those sea shells over her head in a heartbeat! Or better yet make it Mezcal and she'd be looking for another worm!

Because what self-respecting guy is gonna buy a drink
for a chick with a fin instead of legs? Am I right?

Yeah, I would. But I said "self-respecting"...

You beat us to the punch!

Well, at least they all lived happily ever after.

At least until he finds out that she drinks like a fish.
But that's another ride.

I definitely like this story better, but I think it may explain a few things about my life. My Dad never put a Trident where the sun didn't shine on my behalf, and now I know why my relationships with men didn't work out, they don't like a gal who drinks like a fish! hic! :drinking: :drinking1

What ride do we try to ride, but it's closed?

Ugh, here we go again! I'm going to guess Space Mountain since another reader who was there at a similar time posted that PotC was down for rehab.

What ride do we go on instead?

Here I'm going to say CoP because now it's your turn to go on one you want to do, and you want another chance at the song that eluded you from the last trip.

Do we get a FP for Ariel? Or not?

Yes.

We do have another meal, you know.
It's in MK and it's an ADR.
And it's not BOG!
So, where is it?

Ugh. Plaza? See I was real sure about all this, but then people started saying Plaza for ice Cream and other restaurants for dinner. I'm guessing you needed read sustenance by the time that you went to Plaza and you had real food.

We have a third ADR for later in the evening.
It's not in MK, or any park, or in DTD.
Guesses?

I'm going to say O'hana, but only for the Bananas Foster Bread Pudding, because Bread Pudding, not the whole dinner service. My other thought was that you had the ice cream at the Plaza and then went to Kona for dinner because Kay loves Chinese food, and even though there is a lot of sushi, it's rather Pan Asian cuisine and could sort of be Chinese food.

Do we stay for Wishes? Or does our ADR prevent that?

I'm guessing that if you do actually go to O'hana, you either see the fireworks from the dining room, or you finish in time to go out to the beach and see the fireworks.

OMG.....you just saved my a$$. I had replied to all the little quotes and for some reason clicked away from the page. Oh yeah, Because in the "threads they think I should like" there is this freakish picture (obviously someone's profile) that I want to go away. I freaks me out to look at it, and I thought maybe if I clicked on it it would go away. Instead, it took me away from my post and when I clicked back, more than half my replies were gone!

I have been spending half the day on and off replying to your thread. I had given up being able to do so from my computer, as we now have a sort of deadline to move out of our old place. I am not getting computer time, so I finally decided to try and reply from my phone. Luckily due to the DIS saving things I was able to complete my reply from the computer, but all my replies on the computer disappeared when I made the stupid move mentioned above. I opened your thread in a new browser and luckily everything I had typed was there! So I didn't have to go back and type it all again!

You mentioned that to another reader earlier in your posts and I'm glad I read that. I'm going to hit reply now, so that I don't lose anything else!
