Canadian Buffoon European Vacation - 30/03 - Endings and Silver Linings

I am excited....and nervous! This is his third time going but our first time with just the two of us.

So what you're saying is he's 4 years old and has gone almost as many times as I have!

It is also our first time staying on property.

You'll love staying on property. The convenience coupled with the perks (EMH) make it an unbeatable combo.

I love travel planning but found this trip to be super stressful. I didn't realize how hard it was when you are making all the executive decisions. I find that I don't have much of an audience at home that is willing to discuss my Disney Vacation 5-6 hours a day. My four year old only offers that he wants to go on a plane and to see Mickey...everything else he leaves up to me!

Here's my tip for WDW with a youngster (I took the DDs when they were 4 and 8... Ruby was there too, but I did all the planning).

Ready?

Here it is: Always remember the reason you're there. If you bring a 4 year old, it's usually for them, right? So if they want to ride Magic Carpets 7 times in a row... Let them! (and yes... they did) If they absolutely don't want to go in HM, 'cause it's "scary", why force them?

My thinking was, "Why traumatize them right off the bat? I want them to want to come back to WDW, not hate it!"

Everything else... Relax. If all you do is ride the carousel and spend the rest of the day in the Hotel pool, your son will be more then happy.

I am really enjoying your trip report. My Mom and I plan to travel to Europe next year with my two sons (I also have a 15 year old). After reading your start to your time in Paris, I am thinking I would definitely like to put that on our short list of places to go see! We took my older son to England and Germany when he was 5 and I look forward to taking both the boys there next year!!

Glad you're enjoying it. Here's a little peak ahead. When we left Paris, both DDs (and Ruby too) didn't want to leave. They wanted to spend more time in Paris. So maybe that's an incentive to add it to your trip.

I'll have more... lots more on Paris in the days to come.

:wave:Howdy from another Canadian. I've actually been following all of Nebo & Smidgy's trip reports which is where I learned of this one and I'm thoroughly enjoying it, also liked your Hawaii one. Love your style of writing and your sense of humor...and your photoshop skills

DH and I are planning to go to France, Italy and Egypt which was supposed to happen in the next two years but he decided to book an extreme skiing camp in Chamonix, France next February so that pushes our trip up a few more years.

I don't tend to post much as it usually takes me forever to write something and I just don't have the time or often forget. I am here in the background though popcorn::and I try to keep up to date.

Cheers

Hmm. Interesting. I typed "Pig Bread" and translated it to french and "Pain de Porc" is what it translated to. :confused3

Guess I shouldn't count on Google to teach me french. :lmao:

Tell ya what. You translate spanish for me and I'll do french for you. Deal?

Or we can just swear at each other in a language of our choosing

Hiya Kris!

I looked back to see if you'd ever posted on Nebo's TR and I see the last time you did was in September of 2012. Nebo made a comment about you posting once a year... Boy! He wasn't kidding! :lmao:

no?

Gotta admit... as much as I think seeing the Pyramids, etc. would be awesome, I'm a little unnerved with everything that's being going on over there right now.

About a year, apparently.

Well, post whenever you feel like. And if you just wanna say "ha!" or (more likely) "groan" that's okay too.

 Yea, I know it's pathetic but I tend to read along laughing and commenting in my head thinking everyone can read my mind.....right :confused3;) By the time I articulate a comment in my head, either the thread has moved way ahead or I run out of DIS time and forget.:upsidedow

Thanks! Care to send me your photo?

no?

Uh...no, that's okay,thanks anyways though:teeth:........
.....I say this because I LOVE my photoshop program and admire your creativity.

I'll definitely be assessing safety before I commit to anything but Egypt is DH's choice, it's a trade off for me dragging him to Disneyland Paris for a day. He is so NOT a Disney guy, been too many times as a kid and twice with me. Says he's had enough Disney for 10 lifetimes. I just don't know how that could be possible.

Wow, look at me being all chatty. This may be my quota for the year though :rolleyes1:tilt:

 Yea, I know it's pathetic

I can categorically state that no one on this TR called you or your volume of posting pathetic..

Oh, we were all thinking it... but nobody actually said it.

ok. I'm kidding. But do post a word now and then if you can so we know you're alive. :)

but I tend to read along laughing and commenting in my head thinking everyone can read my mind.....right :confused3;)

Right! And that line you thought last week? You know, the one with the thing and that other whatchamacallit? Now that was TR gold, I tell ya! Brilliant!

By the time I articulate a comment in my head, either the thread has moved way ahead or I run out of DIS time and forget.:upsidedow

The trials and tribulations of a fast moving TR.
It's a curse... but one that I have to learn to live with.

Thank goodness no one's asking for an update yet!

Uh...no, that's okay,thanks anyways though:teeth:........

Okay, are you sure? I could do something really nice....

or not.

I do. Ruby's the same way.
And honestly? I am kinda too.... Oh, I love WDW and going there... but if I have a choice between going there or going to... oh, maybe Europe. I'd pick Eur......

ummm..... I think I did that already.

Wow, look at me being all chatty. This may be my quota for the year though :rolleyes1:tilt:

You're gonna have to go back and edit your post.
Maybe delete at least half of it.

Update!

Please. :goodvibes

Curses! Foiled again!
But I think you're outvoted by a majority who don't want me posting too quickly.

Update.

Ponzi is in the midst of writing another chapter. Expect one within the next week or so. :duck:

Ha! You think you're funny, right? Well as it so happens, I'm sitting here munching on a Wunderbar and working on it, so there!

Please post populous pics of Paris, Prance...uh...France

t-man's problem is that snout thing is a cookie, not bread.

If I had been there I would have gotten a slice of Flan, can't find that in the states. I used to eat those a lot when I lived in France. Boy do I miss them!!! Or maybe an éclair. Man, there was a bakery across from my French high school that had the best ones ever. Nothing has ever come close to that. Can you tell I only want to go back to France for the desserts? ;)

I will probably post a plethora of Paris pictures.

No, that's his snout.

Oh! You meant that picture of the cookies!

Is there another reason for going??? :confused3

Ha! You think you're funny, right? Well as it so happens, I'm sitting here munching on a Wunderbar and working on it, so there!

Wait, wait....stop the presses! You just HAD to mention you were eating a Wunderbar!! Now Buzz goes off to cry. Wunderbars are to Buzz what zebra domes are to Pkondz. :sad1:

Gah, now I have to try to find some woefully inadequate chocolate substitute. :sad2:

So, DS got a 110 on his spelling test last Thursday. The best part was he got this score on Thursday, which means we did not have any spelling homework on Thursday so I consider the win to be a bigger one for me and DH! ;)

The 110 score comes from a 100 on the regular spelling words plus two points each for each correctly spelled challenge word.

This week's words are:

fortune
leisure
extreme
foreign
discuss

And yeah, one other important Buzz family note.....Tinkerbuzz is 10 months old today!! I will try to get a good picture and post it in Nebo's TR soon. ;)

That's a total lie!! Tinkerbuzz was born about 3 months ago

I was wondering if anyone (well... you) would pick up on that.

If you're a very good girl, perhaps I'll send you some when it cools down a bit more. (assuming it's still hot by you... it was 32F here this morning.... 32 Freaking Fahrenheit Degrees!!!!)

::yes:: I love it when the girls don't bring home homework, 'cause then I can rest.

Ah. Now I understand....

This week's words are:

fortune
leisure
extreme
foreign
discuss

fortune: 'for' and 'tune'
leisure: i before e except after c... or this word, 'lei' which is big in Hawaii. Plus 'sure'
extreme: all 'e's or 'extra' with an 'e' at the end plus 'me'
foreign: 'for' and another i before e reversed word. And there's a strange and foreign silent 'g' before the 'n'
discuss: What pkondz does when he deletes an entire chapter just as he's about to post it. 'DIS' and 'cuss'

And yeah, one other important Buzz family note.....Tinkerbuzz is 10 months old today!! I will try to get a good picture and post it in Nebo's TR soon. ;)

Getting close to that all important 1st birthday!

Maybe on his back porch with a Sunny D in hand? ;)

I miss him!

::yes:: to both statements

!

I know, right! It seems like just yesterday!

lol, I noticed it too. But would have noticed sooner if you'd said you were having a Coffee Crisp. They're my favorites. =)

Well hi there. Welcome to the PTR... which in this case is Psychotic Trip Report, of course.

pkondz is not a big fan of Coffee Crisp. Oh, sure... if a chocolate cravings rolls in (which it frequently does, of course) and there's nothing else, I'll have one. I mean, it's not like it's an Almond Joy or Mounds <shudder>...

Cripes! It's already freezing there? Okay, absolutely no kidding, here's a little Buzz's dad trivia. My dad routinely grows yellow squash through a portion of November here. Once it hits freezing, bye bye squash.

It was 80 here today, kind of a cool run, pretty sure it will be back in the 90s again soon. ;)

And gee, I don't know whether to say Thanks for the Wunderbars or just bark.....like a good girl! :rotfl2:

::yes:: I love it when the girls don't bring home homework, 'cause then I can rest.

Ah yes, one of the often overlooked main underlying reasons of parental encouragement of good scholarship in children.....a break for parents. Shh, don't tell them!! ;)

fortune: 'for' and 'tune'
leisure: i before e except after c... or this word, 'lei' which is big in Hawaii. Plus 'sure'
extreme: all 'e's or 'extra' with an 'e' at the end plus 'me'

discuss: What pkondz does when he deletes an entire chapter just as he's about to post it. 'DIS' and 'cuss'

I love the last one, beautiful! :rotfl: I broke up leisure just like you suggested, before I read your suggestion. I like the extreme breakdown as well and we are using it. Foreign is tough for exactly the reason you posted....the silent "g". It's giving DS the toughest time. One more night to prep before the pre-test!

Getting close to that all important 1st birthday!

Yep, can you, Ruby, Elle, and Kay make the party?

Tee-hee!! ;)

Pkondz does not equal coconut! Guess I need to dispose of these macaroons! :rotfl2:
