Can you walk to the Hilton from Downtown Disney, or do you need to take a cab? Are there enough other options for people who don't like sushi?

You can walk! I stayed at the Hilton in June and walked to DTD everyday for lunch at the Earl of Sandwich. There is a traffic light directly across from the Hilton. We didn't get a chance to eat at Benihana, but the menu looked good. Hope that helps.

I stayed at the DTD Hilton last month and ate at Benihana and it was good. The restaurant is a Japanese steak house kinda place with the grill where the chef cooks your food for you. You can get sushi at the bar or order from the sushi menu when you get seated. So, don't worry, I don't eat sushi and enjoyed my meal. And try the Benitini - it was yummy. :rolleyes1

And I also walked to DTD for Earl of Sandwich many times during my stay and it is a easy 5-10 minute walk (depending on the timing of the crosswalk.)

And be prepared to hear Happy Birthday a lot during your meal. Every table seemed to have a birthday celebrant.

Cool, thanks guys. It will be nice to have another place to keep in mind, because we won't have a car. And we are going to eat at Earl of Sandwich for the first time this trip too, I have heard so many good things I am looking forward to it!

I LOVE Earl of Sandwich!!! It being so close to the Hilton was the best part of my trip. :yay: I tried to get there for breakfast one day but missed it by minutes. :sad1: Guess I slept a little late that day. :rolleyes1

you can walk to the Hilton. A tip for Benihana's. If it is busy & you don't mind missing the show of cooking on the grill in front of you at the table, you can ask to be seated in the lounge. You get the same great food, all at the same time, instead of bit by bit, & often don't have to wait to be seated or eat.
We go there alot with the Sat night group, & eat that way. Dian-er
