Can you visit AKL by car?

My mom and her DH, and my sister will be at WDW Vet day Weekend (the same time as us, but we will have my sister's kids with us at ASSp). They are staying at Country Inn and Suites at Calypso Cay . On Sunday morning, they would like to drive over to AKL to check out the resort for a future stay (there were no rooms available this time). Can they do this??

All resorts are asking to see a photo id if you are not staying there now.At least the ones we visited did.

We stayed at AsSp in September and had no trouble driving over to AKL to look around. We had to produce ID when we arrived at AsSp but didn't to look around AKL but that may have been b/c we had the parking pass in the windshield of the car. We just said that we wanted to look around and the security guard waved us through. It was amazing and we definitely want to stay there at some time in the future.

I have stayed at the AKL twice. Do it, you'll love it!
Two Sundays ago, we were visiting a friend 30 minutes away from WDW and we got in the car & drove to the AKL for breakfast at Boma. We told the guard we were there to eat (no reservations) and she gave us a 3 hr. parking pass. I was going to valet, but it was around check-in time which was a zoo, so we self-parked. Boma does a fantastic breakfast buffet till 11:00 a.m., then you can walk to the savannah viewing area to take a peek. If you are there late in the a.m., don't expect to see many animals. They seem to wander back into the brush as the day heats up.

Suzy-they will love the Country Inn and Suites, we stayed here last month for a week and were very happy with everything for the most part. AKL is a easy drive using the Osceola parkway from the hotel. We checked AKL out also and only had to show a drivers license.

We stayed at AKL over labor Day Weekend and it is unbelievable!

We had the breakfast at Boma also (YUM!)

the original trip was just me, my DH, DS, and my niece and nephew- we have two rooms at ASSp

A week ago my mom says that she, her DH, and my sister also want to go that weekend - but not with us!

They wanted onsite, but we've known forever that the weekend of the 9th was all booked. I checked anyway and came up with NOTHING!

I got them a room at CI andS for $49 through valuetrips.com

I think that for a brand new property with full room amenities (plus frig and microwave), a free breakfast and a pool slide, it is really too good to pass up!

On our last trip (2 weeks ago) we passed there on our way to ASSp and I timed it- less than 3 minutes to Disney property -not at all bad!
