Ahhh!!! We leave early Thursday morning and I lost my debit card...only me. Of course the replacement one won't arrive until after we leave. I have a good amount of cash that I am planning on taking and a few gift cards but can I use personal checks or is there a place where I can cash a check just in case?

I'm gonna say no.

I would assume you could? Although I have no idea- I can't remember the last time I used a personal check for anything

Could you go to your grocery store or Target that sells Visa gift cards and purchase (and then register online) several $500 gift cards (whatever budget you have) to take with you? You should be able to purchase those with a check.

Did you do online check in with a credit card on file? In 2014, I realized when I was on the plane that I had forgotten my bank card and credit card at home. I had some cash, but not much. Luckily I had done online check in and everything was charged to my room with the visa I had put on file. I was there for 2 weeks with only $300 cash and luckily I was saved by the card I had on file

If the card she lost is the card on file, that won't work - the bank has certainly cancelled that card.

Well, that's a good point....I guess maybe go to the bank and get travellers checks. That's probably best bet.

Some banks will give you a new card right at the branch no waiting for delivery. It will be a different # so if you have anything linked to it (auto paying any bills) you will have to make changes, but you will have a card in hand

Could you buy a bunch of Disney gift cards at your local Walmart or Target and use a check? Those Prepaid Visa and Mastercard are a pain. You always have to know your balance pretty much.

Obviously you didn't mention who you bank with, but did you check to see if there is a branch in Orlando? When I am traveling out of state, I always check to see if there are branches of my bank nearby in case I have an issue.

According to Disney's website, they will cash checks at the front desk of the resorts for SunTrust customers only. There is also a SunTrust branch across from Disney Springs - they might cash a check for a fee. However, Disney will cash travelers checks - so if you go that route you could convert them to cash before heading out for the day. They note that there is no fee for cashing travelers checks up to $100, but over $100 there is a fee. There is a Banking Services section under Guest Services on the WDW website.

Ask the bank to send it to your hotel. Amex offered to overnight me a card when ours was compromised at the airport on the way down to Disney. I came off the plane to multiple text voicemails etc from them. The only reason I used it was it was the only way to do curbside check in for JetBlue. Grrrr. Anyway they offered to overnight my new card to me at no charge

Do you not have a credit card? It is risky to link your debit card to your hotel reservation anyway due to the different consumer protections in debit cards vs credit cards
I completely agree with this. Having someone steal your credit card info sucks, but it can be sorted out in a few hours. Having someone steal your debit card info and wipe out your bank account is a disaster. Yes, you will eventually get it sorted out, but it can take weeks. Meanwhile, your account is frozen and you can't pay your bills. Don't use a debit card.

I have a credit card but only keep a small limit on it for emergencies, and never use the charging privileges because I would probably spend way more that way. I found a branch about 40 minutes away that could print a card for me so now we are good to go!!!
