Can you use fastpasses...

After the time has already expired? Lets say the fastpass says to go between 1:30 - 2:30pm... can you go back at 5pm that night or even later? What about the next day? I've seen people say this a few places but I NEVER knew it and NEVER have done it.

I dont think you can. I'm pretty sure you have to use it in your alotted time or else you have to go get another one.

From what I heard from others on the board, IF the CM isn't paying attention, they will let you (ha) or if the ride was down for awhile then they will let you on past your fast pass time, but those are the only exceptions I have heard about!

I read on Allearsnet.com specifically talking about Test Track that it shuts down when it rains. But, it said that fast passes can be used after their time without a problem. So the article was general about fastpasses, but specific about Test Track closing due to weather. I have read several posts that say you can use it anytime after the start time on the same day.

Actually, you CAN use a fast pass after it has expired on the same day. I have done this many times, for Soarin, Space Mountain and Test Track. Just hand it to the CM. If there are any questions, just let them know that your fatspass ended up being smack in the middle of your didning reservation, or whatever reason for missing it. CMs have told me the policy is to allow past passes any time after the time listed on the ticket.

If an uneducated CM gives you any guff, be polite, smile and let them know that you have been told previously that this was allowed and to please check with their supervisor. Keep smiling. They won't want to call their supervisor and will tell you that they will allow it this time and this time only. Of course you will never see them again, so thank them and walk in!

We went in April and never had a problem using expired fast passes (as long as they were issued the same day). We used time expired fast passes most of the day.............

In reading other posts here on the Dis, it seems most fastpasses can be used after the expiration date, and we did get on Test Track after our time expired. I did explain how I had been feeling ill earlier and needed to use a bathroom.

The main exception seems to be that people have been refused entry with expired FPs on Soarin', as that attraction is the busiest at WDW right now.

We used an expired FP for Kali River Rapids back in June because not more than 10 minutes after I printed the Fast Pass a cast member asked us to be in Mickey's Jammin Jungle Parade. We of course said we would be in the parade since this is probably the only time that will ever happen. I mentioned to the cast member that we wouldn't be able to use our FP and he told me that it was ok to go ahead and use it.

However.... , under normal circumstances like just got busy doing something else and lost track of time I would never use an expired FP. That ruins the whole purpose of having them for others plus it shows the kids that they don't have to go by the rules. Why even bother having them if people aren't going to use them properly.

CowboyCO, using your theory of just smiling why don't you just tell the CM that you were told you could always be first in line without waiting.

Let me cut to the chase: the answer is probably, but not definitely.

Most CMs will let you go, but you may wind up with one of the few that does not.

So my advice is: you can try it, and it will probably work, but don't be upset if it doesn't.

Just got back, never once used a fast pass during the designated time, ALWAYS used them after they had "expired" and had absolutely no problems at all.

Yes, you can use them after the printed time window. At least most of the time.
It's not a matter of CM's not paying attention. It's a matter of Disney's "unofficial" policy of not turning away guests who arrive late.
In fact, the CM at RockNRoller specifically commented about it when we arrived about 6 hours after the time. With a smile, he said "Where have you been? We've been waiting for you all day"

With that said, I wouldn't suggest using FP this way intentionally. The system works best when everyone shows up during their allotted time. If everyone starts waiting until evening to use all the FP's they collected during the day, the FP lines will get really long and Disney will have to start strictly enforcing the time windows.

Well it appears as though the thread I was reading was the exception and not the norm! The one I read had people talking about how they were turned away with expired fast passes.

Wonder if it has to do with busy vs nonbusy time of the year?

I still will not use my expired fast pass as this will ruin the system for everyone!

We were able to this past June. We got on with no question when using it at a later time. We also used a fast pass for Splash Mountain that was a few days old and had no trouble at all.

Don't worry about "ruining" anything by using an expired FP. Those who say it would "slow things down," just don't understand the "numbers" of it.

The statistical chances that "all" or "most" of the holders of a FP for a given attraction would be coming back to the queue to ride it at the "same time" would be incredibly small.
Consider how most FP are USED... most riders come back quickly... they want to ride NOW! The small number who pocket the tix and don't return until a later time pales by comparison.

(Heck, as discussed, MANY WDW visitors don't even KNOW ABOUT the FP system. They don't use it at all.)

Its not so much a case of being "allowed to" or not, because the FP system has no way of knowing IF you ever USED a FP at all (the CM's just throw them away when you hand them in.)

There is a time printed right on the FP that tells you exactly WHEN you can get the NEXT FP (and it CAN be for the same attraction, or any other FP attraction at that park).
This time varies throughout the day, depending on crowd and FP use levels.

Also, if you just choose to "hold onto" a FP for an attraction and use it later in that day (the main subject of this thread) you can, in practice, have MANY of them in your pocket and use them, one-after-the-other, before the park closes that evening (assuming the CMs are cooperative.) And I've yet to have any problems using "expired" same-day FP's... ever!

We have gone back many times and they accept it, especially if you explain that it was earlier. You can even use them the next day (or days later) if you use them during the reccommended time or after, just explain to the cm. They are usually very lenient with this as long as you arn't trying to use them early. Have fun!

I wish I had known that last Sept. as I raced from the Rose and Crown to Soarin. I made it with 5 minutes to spare!

We just got back from WDW yesterday and we used FP several times beyond the stated return time. We were even told by a CM at Everest that they would "honor" it all day. We haven't tried to use a FP for another day though.....I think that is pushing it and would feel too guilty to try it.

However, we also understand that on certain rides the CM may be a bit more strict.

Yes, the same-day is really the reliable "limit."

The two rides that the times would be the MOST strict would be Expedition Everest and Soarin', the two busiest FP attractions in WDW.

You had no problems at EE, and I've had no problems at Soarin'...
Not a GUARANTEE, but a strong case that its AOK most of the time.
