We did ask a CM and she said that the pass would be honored for that day anytime after your fp time--YES you can hold 2 or more FP at the same time--if your fp time is for 10:15-11:15 it will tell you on your fp that you are free to have another one at 10:20--

Simply because Disney knows that mathematically, it generally does not matter in the least WHEN you use a FP (as long as its AFTER the initial wait-time.)

Its actually very simple to see why it doesn't matter, if you just figure the numbers.
I'm going to use "made-up stats" (business does that all the time ) but these are very close to "average" FP usage.

a) 100% Number of FP issued at a given attraction
b) 10% Number (guests) who use it first-thing AT the return time
c) 70% Number who use it DURING the "window"
d) 15% Number who use it AFTER the "window"
e) 5% Number who NEVER use it.

So, if you add c and d (and a PART of a) at any one time, you STILL won't get a "full" FP return line.

The only time it MIGHT get backed-up is on a very trendy HOT attraction like Soarin' or EE.
And THOSE are the times the CMs tend to be more strict.
But it takes some VERY big numbers of guests to make that happen.

Generally, if you don't make it back to the ride "on time" for your FP...
Don't SWEAT it... Disney doesn't.

When I worked at WDW, my attraction didn't have Fastpass, so I don't have that firsthand experience with it, but my best friend there worked RnR and said they would always take Fastpasses as long as it was for the same date and after the start time of the FP.

CMs also have to use FP in the same way as regular guests and I was never turned down for using an "expired" FP in four month time period.

I always see my fastpass time as my "reservation" time. I better get back there in that time or else it isn't mine. That's just my way of looking at it. If I don't get back during that time, I wouldn't think of asking if I could get in because my time has passed. And they give you an hour, that is a fair amount of time...

What's to STOP you from having more than two?

The FP "system" doesn't "know" if you EVER used the one(s) you got earlier.
Again, they do NOT "scan" the FP's that you use... they throw them away.
So, if you just want to "hold them for later" you can have more.

Its not such a "big deal", BECAUSE, you did NOT take up "space" in the FP line EARLIER, and its not like you have done something "extra" as you can still only ride a given attraction ONCE per FP... right?
(Its not as though a single FP allows you to ride "over-and-over", its just one ride per FP.)

Its not a matter of "fooling" the system or "asking for special privileges".
Its just the method that they use to move the guests that DO take FP (many NEVER do) through the FP lines.

Its all a game of numbers. And it works very well.

Thanks Robo So now I know I can get as many FP as I want or should I say can get and if the time is during a parade or mealtime I can still use it. That will realyy help in my planning. I have read it's best to get them early as they go by 1 or 2 p.m.

Only during "busy seasons" and then, only for the "primo" attractions, and not every day at that!

MANY times they simply do not OPEN the FP distribution on many attractions in the mornings until they see how busy the park gets.

The exceptions to this are:
Space Mountain
Peter Pan
Winnie the Pooh
Soarin'
Tower of Terror
Rock 'n Roller Coaster
Test Track
Expedition Everest
K. Safari
and sometimes...
Kali River Rapids
Mission:Space

These attractions nearly always have the FP machines operating from the beginning of the day.

But the ones that MIGHT "run out" earlier in the day are mainly just:

Soarin'
Expedition Everest
Tower of Terror
Rock 'n Roller Coaster
Test Track
(in that order).

I have been told by multiple CMs that you are allowed to use your FP after your allotted time, just in the same day. I have personally done this during the last 2 trips, and never had any problems.

We just returned from Disneyland... where using expired Fastpasses is standard practice.

I have two observations. In all my trips to Disney World, I have never seen Fast pass lines so long! During the day it wasn't bad, but in the evening when everyone had saved them up all day... they might as well have been in the stand by line.

Secondly, we talked to a cast member there who said that this is one of the reasons Disneyland is fazing out Fastpass. They've already taken it off one ride and plan to take it off others. I don't know how accurate that information is -- it was just one cast member -- but my point is, we don't want to end up with either of those situations at the World.

Fastpass a good system, lets support it not try to find ways around it.

Will a cast member turn you away if you're 5 minutes late, because you had to take your toddler to the bathroom? I don't think so!
Will a cast member turn you away if you're 5 hours late? Possibly!
Will a cast member turn you away if you're 10 minutes late on Christmas Day, with all the Fast Passes for the day being gone by 11am? Most likely!

It all depends on the situation, the cast member you're dealing with and wheter you're nice about it or not! Because if you're late, the CM doesn't have to let you in, but they most likely will

And as we all know there is nothing more reliable than the info that a "cast member says".


There is no way to "get around" FP.

Either they let you board, or they don't.

Rella Bella's comment about expired fastpasses at Disneyland is accurate. Disneyland Cast Members are explicitly told to allow the use of fastpasses after the return window. Also, fastpass has been discontinued at more than one Disneyland attraction in the past 3 or 4 years and, just like at WDW, isn't used at all on some attractions that have it on slow days.

However, I don't think the removal of fastpass at Disneyland had anything to do with guests using them after their return times. Instead, fastpass at Disneyland underwent a radical overhaul when Paul Pressler and Cynthia Harris left Disneyland and Matt Ouimet took over. The fastpass problem at Disneyland was primarily that too many attractions distributed fastpass, substantially reducing guest waiting times. While it seems strange to think of that as a problem, remember that Disneyland is somewhat smaller than the Magic Kingdom and that guests not in attraction lines will either be shopping or eating. In fact, some have suggested that Presler and Harris installed fastpass on so many attractions at Disneyland because they were trying to increase spending at shops and restaurants. From a profitability standpoint, this is good. Many, myself included, think it detracted from the Disneyland experience because it contributed to excessive crowding in shops, restaurants and walkways and also contributed to a clutter of vendor carts on Disneyland's walkways to then allieviate the crowding in shops and restaurants.

Just got back from a trip to DL and I asked the CM at Space Mountain if we could use the fastpass that we just had...which was from 9:30 a.m. - 10:30 a.m. sometime in the afternoon. I was told "yes, we will take all fastpasses that are expired....we just do not advertise it".

So, we gathered up all the fastpasses we could in the early morning and then used the passes in the late afternoon/early evening. Never once were we questioned.

When you used the FP's later in the day, was the FP LINE (where you queued up to ride) very backed-up?
Or did the line go rather quickly?

One time we had to wait 30 minutes past our PS at the Crystal Palace, making us late for our Splash Mountain return time. The CP said it wouldn't be a problem and it wasn't. I'd hardly started explaining it to the Splash guy and he waved me through.
