The price of my airfare went down and now I have a $125 in credits. Can you use these credits to pay the baggage fees if you check in with the agent at the airport. I have been on hold with Airtran for 15 minutes but thought someone here may have had the same experience. Thanks.

The only option online to pay I think is credit card, no credit, no gift card option. Not sure about airport check in though. Tell us what they say when you talk to AirTran.

I've used credits to upgrade to Airtran's business class. You have to do it over the phone with an agent or at the airport. It was fairly painless!

Upgrading using A+ credits is different from what the OP is wanting to do. They are wanting to apply a $ credit they have to baggage fees.

I've done it once before, but seeing how airline policies change every few minutes these days, have your credit card ready just in case. (then send me the credit :) )

I wanted to let you know the "official response" I got on the phone from an Airtran rep when I called again because the price for my flight home changed and the price went down again (:cool1: another credit). I was told that if I checked in on-line that I "might" be able to use the credit but he did not think I would be able to do so at the counter if I checked in at the airport. Unfortunately he did not sound very convincing so I guess I will have to wait and see.

I am almost positive it can't be done if you want to pay them online. I don't think there is a spot for it.

If you want to pay for at the airport then you might be able to do it. I say might because I think it depends on how knowledgable the customer service agent is. I've tried to do it but agent couldn't figure it out. However, I have heard others say they have done it no problems. You can ask but just have a back-up plan.

You called when your price went down and they gave you a credit?!!?

Word on the street is that Airtran stopped doing this...did you pay a change fee and still get a credit?

I had read on here that they were going to change back to providing a credit. If they did, they did so with no announcement or fanfare, which is understandable.

Thank you for all the responses. I have credits of $300 at this point. The price to MCO went down last month and then 2 days ago I noticed that the price for the flight back to HPN went down as well (as it should since they moved up my flight time 2 hours to departing at 10:45 am):scared1: Anyway, I just called and told them that I was an A+ reward member and I noticed that the price of my flight went down and I had no problem getting the credit. I was not aware that they had stopped giving credits at one point. This is only the second time we are flying Airtran and the last time was 2 years ago.

I figure even if they do not let me use it for my baggage, it may help to pay for my Nov 2010 trip or April 2011 trip. You have one year from the take of orginal purchase of the tickets to use the credits.

I forgot - when I was at the airport for my last trip -they did tell me that I could use a credit I had in my account for luggage. I ended up not doing that b/c it was logistically harder than paying for it and I knew I would have no trouble using the credit!

I just noticed mine was down by 15.00. Is it worth it for that amount or do they charge you service charge (as in re-ticketing)?

They did not charge me anything - they just added the credit to my A+ rewards account.
