Can You Upgrade an Old Park Hopper For AP?

Can you apply unused days from an old park hopper plus towards getting an AP? Will I still be able to get the DVC discount?

Thanks for any help!

You should be able to upgrade to the DVC AP, however depending on how old the park hopper is, it will almost certainly be worth less as a credit than as admission. They base the credit on how much you paid for the ticket, so if it's pretty old the days could be worth only $30-40. Also they don't give you any credit for the plusses.

Thanks for the answer. Do you know if you can just keep the plusses? I am guessing that is not allowed.

Nope. Once you turn in the ticket, it's gone.

But you could use the plus options before you turn it in for credit or you could just keep the park hopper ticket and use it "as is" on a later trip. Sopmetimes the odd day or two really come in handy.

Best wishes -

I asked about upgrading passes when I was there the first week in April and was told it is no longer allowed. I wanted to upgrade an unused 7 day PH plus to a 10 day non expiring premium MYW ticket and they said "can't be done - Any tickets purchased prior to 2006 can be used but cannot be upgraded" If anyone gets a different answer please post here. I wanted to do this to get the Disney Quest option on the passes.

Sounds like you got a CM who took your request to upgrade very literally - "Upgrading" in Disney speak means turning in your ticket and getting full value for price paid. It is only allowed under specific circumstances.

What you wanted to do was turn your ticket in for a "dollar credit" and apply it to the purchase of a new ticket. AFAIK, that is still allowed.

I'm glad I found this thread. I was wondering the same thing for a 4 day trip I have coming up, myself and DD. I have 2 old PH both with pluses on them and was considering trading them in for AP's. Thank you Carol that link was very informative.

So considering I was going to trade one PH with 4 days and 4 pluses and one PH with 2 days and 2 pluses for 1 adult AP and one child AP, it definitely doesn't seem like it would make the most sense. Especially if I'll lose those pluses. So it seems my best bet would be to maybe just buy a child's AP for my DD (we usually have AP's and plan on going again within the year) and me use the old PH's and then I can save the pluses. I would just have two days left on my PH.

I hope I'm figuring that correctly.

Thanks for the info - I will be taking that unused 7 day PH plus with me in September to try to apply it to a 10 day MYW premium non expiring pass. It would meet the criteria of costing more and since no days have been used for parks or plus features I would think it could be done based on the thread you posted.
