Can you tell me about your (recent) food experience at Garden Grill?

I had wanted to try this restaurant for the first time when we return to WDW this fall. I have just one more Epcot "slot" and am torn between trying Garden Grill and going to Chefs de France (mostly to see Remy).

We've been to Chefs de France before, so are familiar with their food.

I think my kids (ages 16, 3, and almost 5) would be thrilled with either the Garden Grill characters or seeing Remy at Chefs de France. We do have several other character meals scheduled, including Chef Mickey's and Donald's Safari Breakfast. My kids never seem to get enough of the character meals! So I'm trying to decide based on the food . . .

What can you tell me about your recent experiences there? Any input or recommendations for me?

Thanks in advance! :)

We have ate at the GG several time and we love the food. The fried cat fish is amazing.Their menu does change but we have never been disapointed. one of our favorites.

We have 3 boys (one is a pretty picky eater!) and Garden Grill is one of our favorites! It's our arrival night tradition, so the boys get to see Mickey and Chip/Dale right away. We were just there last month, and thought the food was still good!

The food is all served family style, so no getting up, taking turns with the kids or juggling plates. They start with a salad and bread that we think is great, and then they bring out kids' items (mac and cheese, chicken nuggets, etc.) and meats (usually steak and turkey), fish (they replaced the catfish with mahi last month - liked that!), potatoes and fresh grilled veggies. I'll admit I'm not a fan of the adult dessert, but I'm usually too full by that time anyway. And fun desserts for the kids - last year, it was make-your-own cupcakes, but last month they served worms in dirt (gummy worms in pudding with cookie topping.) Our boys liked the worms, didn't eat the dirt. :)

I've posted on other threads about the great character interaction at GG - they really take their time with the kids there - it's about the most "relaxed" character meal we've had at WDW!

And OP, you may already know this, but Garden Grill usually serves just dinner, and Remy is only at Chef's during lunch and the afternoon. I think other posters have said he's gone by 6pm. We went to Chef's for lunch at 12:30 (ordered a lighter lunch) and GG for dinner last month, and we loved both. We're doing the same for our next trip!

We ate there in December and really enjoyed it. Service was great. The characters were great. I loved the food. I also liked it so much more than the buffets because it is easier when they bring the food to you. :)

Thanks for the responses so far!

Can anybody tell me what the recent menu is like? The menu on Deb's site is somewhat older. How is the dessert, for instance?

Thank you . . . :goodvibes

I like GG it has good food and a gotta go place for all disney lovers. and the place is over the ride living with the land so dont be startled when the floor moves.:hyper2::disrocks::mickeybar

We make a point go to there everytime we go to Disney. We are doing the express DP this time, but I'm still going to make a ressie for GG. Great food and the most relaxing character meal we've been to. My DS's are 14, 11, and 9 and they still want to go back and see Chip and Dale because they were so funny.
