Can you still have fun if you bring babies?

I'm sure you can, but I need a pep talk. We're trying to arrange a trip for fall 2009 (a while from now, but we have family all over we're trying to get with us). We'll be TTC at the end of this year so if all goes as planned we'll have a four-month-old to bring with us to Disney.

We went to WDW last fall for DD's 4th birthday and it was great - we didn't have to carry around bottles or diapers or worry about finding a place to change her or worrying about carrying her around, etc. I'm concerned that having to drag a baby and all its gear around all day will put a damper on the vacation. Somebody tell me I'm worrying for nothing!

I traveled with kids at 10 months and 22 months (separate trips). I found that Disney does make it easy with their baby care centers at each park. I would think that the 4 mo would be even easier since they are content being in the stroller for longer periods of time and don't have the need to stretch their legs. You can order any baby needs also from gardengrocer.com to help your packing. Go for it!

I am pregnant with our first baby now Our next trip is planned for October 2009 and the baby will be 9 months old at that time. I can't speak from experience but I will say I've heard it's easy to take a baby to Disney World, especially with the baby centers, child swap at the rides, ect... I'm very excited to take our little prince or princess!! Good luck!!

While you'll no doubt find that your last trip was easier, bringing a baby is really no big deal. Baby can go along on most rides (obviously the thrill rides are out) and are still very portable and generally easy to manage. Our first family trip to Disney was when dd was 4 and ds was 5 months. Can't say he got much out of it, but he didn't slow us down or detract from our trip. The baby care centers are great--have fun!

We are taking DD on her first trip in Aug. when she'll be 8 mos. and can't wait! Yea, I'm stressing a little about logisctics and what to bring, but can't wait to see how excited she gets! She has already loved the zoo and aquarium. She's good for about 2-3 hrs. before she needs a nap/break...and so are her parents! I agree with another poster...you can change diapers at home or at WDW. I'm a teacher and have the summer off and let me tell you, a day or two at home with her by myself gets really long so I plan little jaunts just about everyday and it makes all the difference. I think babies get a lot out of each experience in their own way and that makes it worth it!!! Oh, and don't the memories mom and dad take with them of the kids count as much as the kids themselves???!!!!

You won't regret it! We took DD on her first trip at 9 months old and it was the best trip we ever had! She adored the characters and we were much more laid back with our touring. It was actually easier taking her at 9 months than it was at 18 months just due to her not wanting to be in the stroller more and being over exerted.

I have been bringing my kids every year since they were born and now they are 4 and 2. YES you can still have a great time at disney with babies. However i must say that i brought other family members to help. But if you plan well and go when it's not so hot, you'll have a great time. An infant will probably sleep through most everything anyway.

Well- if your baby is good-natured (not Colicky!) you'll be fantastic! We took our 4-month-old DS last Oct. and he had a grand 'ol hootenany of a time! He was better behaved than our 4 & 6 year olds! Many people feel that a baby is easier to bring than a toddler & I'm sure there is good reason for that adage... I will get back to you on that as ours will be 14 months on our upcoming trip and I'm much more nervous about bringing him this time as he is harder to pacify and contain!

We took my DD for her first trip when she was 8 months old. She caught a stomach bug at daycare 3 days before we left, and while she was fine by the time we got to Disney, DH spent the first 2 days in bed in the hotel with her stomach bug, and I spent the following 2 days in bed.

Gotta love babies and their willingness to share germs

While I wouldn't say it was one of our better trips, the days that we did actually make it to a park were great! She did great just riding around in her stroller and she rode everything that we felt up to riding after recovering from being sick.

Obviously, it wasn't all bad, because we're going back in September and she'll be 18 months old. To be honest, I'm more worried about this trip because she doesn't like to ride in her stroller any more and I have no idea how I'm going to keep up with her!

I think I might keep her out of daycare for a few days before we leave, in hopes of avoiding a last minute illness this time

I have brought both my kids since they were babies DD 11 months and DS 6 months. Now they are 15 and 6 and sometimes when we go I wish they were still that young. I love the memories I have from those trips. Have Fun!

We brought our DS for his first WDW trip when he was 3 months old and he was very easy to take to the parks. One small backpack held all of his items and it fit nicely into the stroller. You'll have great photos and wonderful memories. Have fun!!

We took my ds when he was 5 months old and just got back last January when another ds was three months old. It was really easy! The baby is portable and really easy since they pretty much just lay there.

And all that is going around the parks entertained the baby for hours...so much to see. I would suggest taking the infant seat w/ stroller so the baby can nap often. We brought the little infant seat frame carseat which was lightweight and portable and easy to get on and off the buses, monorails and boats.

I am more worried about our trip in Sept. when the baby is 11 months and will want to get out and walk...I am hoping that he isn't walking by then!

We have taken our kids as babies before and I love it. We get great pictures to have for the little ones later and the babies actually enjoy it. We took our youngest DD this past Jan. and she was 3 1/2 mos old. She was great and we used the baby care centers when we were near them. They are very clean and well staffed with people and supplies. I love taking my babies to the happiest place on earth. I wouldnt leave them home for anything!!

I didn't find it a hassle at all. Granted, I was only lugging the diaper/wipes/change of clothes because I nursed, but when you consider that you will likely have a stroller, it all evens out...actually it may even be a bit easier with the stroller, as you can even tuck in the little "treasures" you find along the way. BTW, you will want to bring a stroller for a 4m old, as the rentals appear to be geared for an older child.

We brought dd2 when she was 9m old and it was a blast. I carried her in a sling most of the trip, and she was content just to be looking around or sleeping on me. Their clothes are smaller, you can either bring diapers and wipes if you have room in your suitcase or have them shipped to the resort. You only need a few diapers on any outing unless you'll be gone from sun up to sun down. We just brought a small diaper bag with wipes, a couple of diapers, and a change of clothes. I was still nursing dd at that time which was great b/c we didn't have to bring along all of those bottles and the need to figure out how to wash them. There are so many great places to nurse a baby at WDW. It ended up being a great excuse for me to take a break whenever she needed to eat.

We will be bringing dc#3 next May when s/he will be about 5 months old. I'm really looking forward to it, and know that that child will likely be easier than my 3 yo. for that trip.

I have taken ds when he was 2 and dd when she was 1, 2 and now 4 . But, all my kids have been to Disneyland hundreds of times as babies. Disney rides are pretty tame, and they have rider switch passes if you want to ride a wilder ride ( like TOT). I would have died if I had missed my Disney fix during my babies childhood! ( Disneyland is 20 minutes down the freeway from me! )
My advice is get organized and do it! I am still taking the stroller, babywipes,bibs and a snack bag for my 4 year old so she will be clean and happy. My motto is a prepared mom is a happy child! Go and may the mouse be with you!
