Can you share a meal?

We are on the DDP for our September trip. We have been looking at all the menus and we are starting to feel like we will explode if we eat all that food! Is it possible to share a meal? Or do we just order and throw away what we don't eat - seems like such a waste...

Lots of people "share" meals, but I don't know how "legal" it is with Disney. There are several people who buy the double cheeseburger and get an extra bun for a dollar more, then split the meat up between the two buns. And the ribs/chicken platter at Cosmic Rays is more than enough for two people, unless you are a BIG eater (my brother can put one away, his wife and I split another -- many years before there was a DDP).

With the CS, it is easier to share. With TS, I don't think you can share at all, but they will be happy to box up your desserts, etc to enjoy later.

We'll be doing the DDP for the 4th time in Sept. (3rd time free :goodvibes ) and we've shared meals (TS and CS) everytime, without a problem. :goodvibes We do the same thing when we are paying OOP too-so don't worry, go ahead and share the meals, if you want. I don't know about you, but I never order an appetizer, entree, AND dessert. The times when we don't share TS are the times when we take our desserts back to our room-for snack later. Of course, no sharing at buffet, but we have shared at many different restaurants-HBD, Teppanyaki, 50's PT, Kona, Spoodles, etc. Sometimes it's my DM and I sharing, other times it's my DD7 and I. Also, many times we order 2 meals at CS and share them between the 3 of us.

Happy Dining!

Dizneydaz, when your sharing at the Table Service restaurants, when do you mention it to the server? Thanks :goodvibes

We too are doing the ddp for the 4th time (3rd time free too) in August. We have always shared and we just mention when ordering that we are going to share 2 TS credits among the 4 of us and I tell them what we want for everyone. We are all "adults" on the ddp, but we just don't want to stuff ourselves silly with all that food.

I hope the policy hasn't changed for when we go this Aug. as it works well for our family.

With the "extra" TS credits, we usually enjoy a few character breakfasts (normally buffet, where obviously we all use 1 TS credit).

:thumbsup2 This is great info. Our plan is to share too. Our party includes 2 adults, our 10 y/o who on the DDP is an adult, and two children. There is no way my DD could ever finish all of the food offered on the adult plan. I hope we have cool servers who will allow them to share.

This is our plan too! We have 10 days worth of CS and TS but have 10 TS planned even though two of them are 2 TS. We have 12 CS planned. Even sharing I bet we have credits left over. :wizard:

I'm glad i read this as it has been a bit of a debate about this.... me and dbf are scot's but we don't have the stomach for all the food over in Disney we felt bad only eating a wee bit of everything last year... and felt worse when servers would come over and say is there something wrong with you meal ... we said no it was lovely we just cant eat it all (then get the funny look from the server when we ordered a dessert lol)
it would be alot easier to share and leave a extra tip than waste soo much food... i ended up ordering from the kids menu for my breakfast/lunch counter service

So, it sounds like we can share meals? That would be great, and we wouldn't feel like we were wasting so much. :)

When you make ADRs now and say you are on the DDP they do say that each person will need to use 1/2 credits for the meal BUT they don't seem to be enforcing that policy now. At some "magical" point that could change so I'm trying to plan things with an extra TS breakfast the last day in case we can share and have TS credits left and if we don't we can cancel or pay OOP.

What I'm wondering is if Disney might start enforcing the policy during the free dining period. If it's something they want to start enforcing, that would be the ideal time for them to do it - people can't really complain about the change if they got the plan for free.
