Hi, I recently learned my hours are getting cut at work and was thinking of something to do. I made these really cute Tie-Dye Shirts for my families trip from directions on got on these boards. They have a mickey head in the center of the shirts. Could these legally be sold on Ebay. Here is a picture of the back of my sisters shirt.

Hmmm... I think it would be a no no only because you would have to advertise it as being Disney or Mickey Mouse, right? I could be wrong though... I usually am :teeth:

Thanks, I'm thinking that I can't sell them either. My daughter said write Tie dye mouse head shirts  , but who will be in the market for that. LOL :rotfl2: Does anyone know for sure? :confused3

I don't know. People sell ALL KINDS of scrapbooking things with Disney stuff on it.

I've never sold on ebay, but don't they have forums there?
Just be careful, don't want someone to steal your idea. Good luck!!

They are really nice!!!!

With everything that is sold on Ebay - I'm sure these are fine.

I don't see why not. That isn't a licensed tye die shirt. Maybe you could put in the title that it would be great to wear at Disney but you aren't advertising it as a Disney shirt.

Even though it seems like eBay sells just about ANYTHING, they have very strict guidelines concerning title wording and homemade items. Check the Prohibited and Restricted Guidelines list on the site and also check their advanced selling guidelines.

I personally think they're cute but I've had my hand slapped enough times to know that eBay DOES restrict certain items.

I know people make accessories to match Gymboree clothes and often they will get shut down for mentioning Gymboree. I'm sure the same goes for Disney. I think they are totally cute but you probably couldn't do it.

Wow there are alot of guidelines. I think this is the one for me? :confused3 Guideline: If the product you are selling bears the name or logo of a company, but it wasn't made or endorsed by that company, don't list it on eBay.
I think the head would be a Mickey Logo. Yes? :confused3

I had to find the quote from the pirates movie about guidelines here it is... :teeth:
Barbossa: First, your return to shore was not part of our negotiations nor our agreement, so I must do nothin'. And secondly, you must be a pirate for the Pirate's Code to apply, and you're not. And thirdly, the Code is more what you'd call "guidelines" than actual rules. Welcome aboard the Black Pearl, Miss Turner.

LOL!

I've sold many "Disney" products with no problem. I have also been reprimanded by stupid stuff so I sort of walk on their "guideline" coals! I would do a search on the "completed items" that are similar to your items and see how the copy is written. While you're at it you can find out if they actually sell, too!

I'm really surprised. I've seen some real stupid and junk being sold on Ebay. I had the impression they didn't give a care what was sold just as long as they get their cut in the profits. :confused3

As far as the shirts? They are so cute! :thumbsup2

Disney is VERY sensitive regarding their trademarks. Homemade "Disney" items are a no-no in their eyes and if they catch you, they will request Ebay to withdraw your listing. With so many items, getting caught is just luck of the draw. I'm sure they concentrate on large volume sellers that try to make a business out of it.

I haven't looked it up, but I cannot imagine that Disney doesn't have a trademark on the silhouette of the mickey head. They TM everything.

Reselling something that was manufactured by Disney or licensed by Disney is completely different than creating and selling your own Disney images.

Disney is infamous for suing small businesses for trademark infringement. They take it very seriously.

Can you post them as "Disney-like" or "Disney-inspired." I mean, they are more of an impressionistic mouse head... not a true Disney logo...

Check out www.tabberone.com . tabberone is an ebay seller who won copyright lawsuits. Disney is very aggressive when it comes to their trademarks and copyrights.

that's funny that you posted that shirt... I was just thinking about it the other day! Does anyone have the link to the thread that posted the directions on making those cute shirts?
