My dh said you can somehow see who looks at your profiles on facebook. He doesn't know how, he just knows you can. I don't believe him, lol. So can you? If so, how?

I don't think you can, but I could be wrong, I haven't been on FB very long.

This is from Facebook's Help section

Can I know who’s viewing my profile or how often it’s being viewed?

Facebook currently does not provide an application that allows users to track profile views or statistics on the views of any specific user content. Third party developers, however, may offer applications that provide some of this functionality. Please keep a few things in mind for these applications:

Applications CANNOT track profile visits for users who simply go to another person's profile; Facebook has made this technically impossible.

In order to be tracked by an application, you will need to specifically agree to allow the application to track your actions.

Adding an application that provides this functionality is purely optional. If you do not want to participate, please do not add the application to your account.

The little program pops up on the right or bottom of facebook. You can even tell them to put it on your wall (the list) for everyone to see. It usually shows the top 5..and I'm always surprised at who is the top five looking at mine. I don't see why they would be interested.
Once I d/l the app, I can just click on it to generate the list.

So, as you have seen from the above explanation, yes you can. Nothing is private on Facebook so be careful.

Could you please give a link to the app? I am curious.

I don't use any Facebook apps so I can't attest for their accuracy. If you are concerned about privacy make sure to read every single word in the T&Cs or any app you approve or quiz you take. Most will state that they will use all of your and your friends information and Facebook allows this in their SDK. I have no real problem with this because it isn't like it is a secret and I really don't care who views my page or sees the info I post there. I won't put anything on there that I wouldn't want anyone to see. I will only put something up there that I wouldn't mind my boss, any potential employer, or my future children to see. Using that as my barometer just seems the best and most logical way to go.

Totally not seeing it. So it popped up and you downloaded it?

I have no idea how to track who looks at my profile, but since my profile is private, and I only friend people I know I don't worry about who's looking at it.

All the app's descriptions say your current friends and family. I'm talking about people who are not your current friends. Just random people looking at your profile. Is that possible?

I can't send you the ap..it's on my facebook page, I just click on it and d/l it. I don't think they have to be your friends, since I was caught looking at someone's that I am not a friend of :rolleyes1
That's how I found out they can post the list to facebook LOL.

If you set your profile's settings to private, no one should be able to see your profile other then your friends.

I have all my options set to "friends only" and searched for me using my sister's account. We aren't "friends" and I can't view and info about me from her page, so I doubt anyone else can either.

I think the default setting on Facebook is to only allow your "friends" to view your profile. So, unless you changed that, non-friends can't view your profile. I was assuming you were asking how you could see which friends had viewed your profile.

I haven't used it in a while, but I think the ap show's who has searched for you on facebook (and gives you a list of the top ones). I can't remember if it was that or who has looked at your profile. I removed the ap when I changed all of my settings recently, so I'll have to wait until it pops up again on the side to read what it says.

So true. I "friended" my pastor and knowing he checks in daily keeps me on my best behavior!

How many put their real birth date in. It seems to be too much info and is one component to identity theft.

That is a fake generated list. My daughter and I are on each other's facebook constantly. Neither of us ever show up on the stalker list.
