We are trying to plan a trip next year and trying to decide on which resort is difficult!

Wondering, can you see the Castle from the Poly?

Thanks!

Absolutely! What's more virtually ALL the Lagoon View rooms benefit from amazing Castle views........compared to the GF which only have a very select few facing the Magic Kingdom.

Well, I don't know if I would say virtually all the lagoon view rooms do, since mine didn't and it looked like others in the same building probably didn't because of an island in the lake, but a lot of them do, especially the ones in the Tahiti building. It just depends on what you get, some of the garden view rooms, if you look out to the right or left on the balcony, can also see it. The Polynesian is a wonderful resort though, don't base your decision on just whether you get a castle view room or not ;)

Exactly which longhouse were you in? Virtually all the Hawaii rooms can see the castle, along with the Tahiti rooms. I heard that the 2 lagoon view rooms at the end of one longhouse had slightly obstructed views, but that's the lot. As Tikimans site states "90% of the lagoon view rooms have great views of the Magic Kingdom" --- yes, I know "Magic Kingdom" does not include the castle, but almost all the rooms can see the castle, even if partially obstructed.

The only way to guarantee a castle view room at the Polynesian is to book lagoon view concierge.

Some Poly rooms are partially obstructed by trees or that island near the GF. I was in Tuvalu lagoon view, I could see the castle but only the very top of it because the island blocked it. Stayed in Tahiti, partially blocked by a palm tree but much better than Tuvalu.

The GF (and CR) castle and MK views are MUCH MUCH Better than the Poly because they are so much closer to the castle than the Poly, but there are fewer of these rooms at GF than at Poly

Yes, I was ground floor in Tuvalu. Those rooms, and I think that building might be 10 rooms across, probably don't have a view of the castle. I don't know about the 2nd and 3rd floors. I might have been able to see the very very tip top, I thought I saw something pointing up above the island, but it's not a castle view. But as usual, I get the very worst view of any room category that I book, so I absolutely have to book the minimum I'll be happy with. And I paid very big bucks for me (maybe not for other people), the highest I've ever paid for a room, for that room. I wish just once I could get the views that other people rave about at these places, but I choose not to be "mr. nasty" at the front desk.

There's been a lot of posts here about lagoon-view rooms and seeing the castle. We stayed garden-view, so we didn't see the castle from our room. So what? We LOVED seeing the castle from the beach, and in our case, we did stay concierge, so everytime we wanted our castle fix, we just went into the lounge.

So YES you can definitely see the castle from the Poly, and at night, you can watch the Electric Water Parade and watch the castle change colors, too, nicely from the beach.

I TOTALLY disagree with this statement. I've stayed direct castle view at Conch Key (GF) twice, and lagoon view Hawaii Building twice, and the view from the PR is most definitely nicer and more direct.

Sorry, I didn't mean to be a downer, I do like the Poly, and the Contemporary. I just wish that there would be one solitary time when i'm paying the big bucks that I could have that view. Doesn't have to be every stay, just one time out of all these trips....

Just got back from the Poly. Stayed in Tuvalu room 1406. Ground floor second one from the beach. Had an unobstructed view of the castle. The island was to the right.

Ok, well I was the second one from the marina side. So I dunno how many rooms along there are obstructed, I guess that would be a Tikiman question.

Bummer for you Anne, I was in Big Pine Key, and that is about 1/2 closer than the Poly and the castle directly out balcony ...

Direct view, this matters how?

And not get room 3510 -- you can only see the Castle on the balcony of that room if you stand all the way to the left or alll the way to the right on the balcony and lean. No sitting there and just staring at the Castle. That room is on my no list.

When you are lying in bed at night, you don't need to stand on your balcony and look sideways to see the castle. A lot of rooms at the GF are situated so you'd have to do that.

So this is a bad view? This is ground floor Tuvalu. I consider this seeing the castle myself. I was very happy when I had this view but I guess this is not good enough for some.

Do you happen to have a photo of the view from your room. That is awesome that you had such a good view. :cheer2:

That photo I posted was from standing on the patio of 1406. Our room view was the same and we were in 1411.

Aloha
