Can you see the Castle from Poly?

I personally LOVE the Poly and just returned on Saturday from a great trip. I prefer to stay there, BUT if it is a castle view you want, the view from the Cont. Tower is the closest. It is sort of from the side but sooo close. You can see tons from there.

I will be staying at the poly for the first time next year for the marathon. :cool1: I am really looking forward to this. I've heard such great things about it all of these years. It is going to be awesome! We booked Garden View Concierge, but may see about upgradeing to LVC at check in. It all depends on if I can scrounge up enough spare change between now and then!!! :earsboy:

Thanks for the room numbers guys!!!

Tikiman, sorry to argue with you, but that picture was NOT the view from my room. I would have been delighted beyond belief if my room had that view. I believe my room number was different by several numbers than the two you cited, I was way over on the marina side of the building, but I would have to see a building map again to tell you which number it was. Here, let me see if I can bring up a map on Google or something real quick to tell you.....well, I can't seem to find one that tells room numbers, but I'm pretty sure it was the second room from the marina side, could have been the third, but I think it was the second. And the island completely blocked the castle, with the possible exception of seeing the very very top gold tip of the spire. I'm sorry, but I'm not going to let someone tell me, no matter how much of an expert they are, that my view was of the castle like that, when in fact it wasn't. Some of the rooms on the beach end, or even in the middle I don't know, may have that view, but mine didn't. Ok, here we go, I've dug out the picture cd from that trip! And I have a picture of the view! I'm not sure how to post, but if it doesn't come out here, somebody instruct me and I'll post it. It clearly shows the Grand Floridian on the left, the island in the middle with the castle blocked, and Space Mountain on the right. Ok, let's see if this works.....
Ok, it won't copy and paste, and when I press the "insert image" button, a script prompt box comes up and I don't know what to put in there, so I guess somebody will have to instruct me. But I do have a picture proving this, so you guys aren't going to be able to just write me off this time. I'm so tired of being written off as some crackpot on these boards, you weren't there.

No need to be sorry freediverdude. I am not arguing with you, I just have a different opinion and I have never called myself an expert.

When were you there? When I looked at the views last it was in August 2004 and that is when that photo was taken. Our room was the 4th down from the marina. The building goes to 1414 so you would have been in 1413 if you were the second one from the marina. I would not argue with what you saw because you would have no reason to lie. I just have never seen it blocked that much myself even when I looked last year. Than again I don’t see a big issue with a nice lagoon view even if I don’t see all the castle. I just want to see the fireworks, water pageant and a nice view of the lagoon. If anyone feels they need to see more of the castle than half or less than I suggest going to the Contemporary. Since I love the Polynesian am much happier at that location with any view of the castle. I don’t really feel I have to see it all. How many resorts can see any of it?

Ok while I was editing my post some people responded, so go back to read it I guess, I need to know how to post the picture.

And I'm not saying that I wasn't happy at the Polynesian because of the view- I was very happy at that resort and would go back, it's a wonderful resort. I'm just saying that I wish at least one time in my life I would get the view that all these other people rave about when I'm paying the big bucks like that.

My room from Tuvalu was slightly worse than the one above, and I was on the 3rd floor (4th room from marina) was you would think would be better since you are higher up with the castle more blocked and all of MK behind the trees.

The castle , as in the picture above, was tiny. I LOVE the Poly, but if the castle/MK view is the most important thing I would take my chances with CR (best chance) and GF. The castle and MK are much closer, and you can actually hear the MK whimsical music from your balcony !

If MK view is low on the list of importance, the Poly is a great place to be :wave2:

I never said you were not happy with the Polynesian. I just disagree with a partly or even mostly blocked view of the castle as being a bad LAGOON view. After all you could see the lagoon right? That is what you paid the big bucks for. You are entitled to your opinion and I am sure many here have found it helpful. I just disagree with it being a bad view.

Totally agree Tikiman, the lagoon views at Poly are great and magical with great views of the cont/gf and boats going by. Although, Tuvalu in my experience is the least magical of the bunch, I would take Tahiti, Aoettora, and obviously Hawaii if I had a choice in the matter ...

Well you're the one who posted the big picture of a castle view and claimed "is this the view you were unhappy with?" and trying to claim that my view was that view. All I'm saying is that I WISH one of these times I would get a view even similar to the one you got in your Tuvalu room, it doesn't even HAVE to be the perfect view you get from your "Tikiman" ground floor Hawaii LVC room. Yes, I got a lagoon view, so I can't complain to the resort, but I get tired of everybody saying virtually every lagoon view room at the Polynesian has a castle view, and touting it to others to try it, when mine didn't. And I'll still post the pic if somebody will tell me how.

Hey freediverdude. I am not upset here so I don’t know why you are getting an attitude. When I posted the photo and ASKED the question I was not being a smart a** I was just curious and wanted to know what experience you had so just calm down. I had no intension of getting you upset. I was curious about your information, not trying to prove you wrong.

If you don’t want my input that leave my screen name out of your postings and learn to not take things so personal. I am allowed to disagree with you after all.

Not sure either how to post a picture but I would love to see the picture also. I know what you are saying about getting the view you want though. I have some friends that live in Tampa and met us at the GF we paid for Garden view because we were there for 8 nights, our friends booked last minute and only Lagoon was available.
They checked in and got a direct castle view, you could sit on their bed and see the castle change colors. No leaning over the balcony, i mean the castle was directly in front of their balcony. I was soooo excited for them, so excited it convieniced everyone to order room service and we could watch the castle change color from their room (we did have 4 children under 5 so room service ending up being our best option).
My friends made fun of me because i was more excited than the children about their view. I kept saying do you know how lucky you are to get this room, people "die" for this view.
The ironic thing is they really did not care (they loved the view) but they never requested castle view and would of been just as happy with a non castle lagoon view.
:confused3
If that was me booking a lagoon view room at the GF my luck is I would never get that view. But i also never expect it, if i get it then :cool1:

I agree with you Tikiman, so many people take things way too personal here. I love the advice and I try not to take comments to heart. :3dglasses :disrocks:

Well I'm not the one who read my original post and then quoted it and posted this-
So this is a bad view? This is ground floor Tuvalu. I consider this seeing the castle myself. I was very happy when I had this view but I guess this is not good enough for some.

Sorry if I took that personally.

Well, I've looked through the FAQs, and I don't see a way to post a pic that's on a home computer file, I guess it has to be a link to one that's on the web somewhere. But I do have picture(s) to prove it, if people want me to send them email.

Sorry if I took that personally.

Please don't take it pesonal freediverdude. I honestly was just asking if you considered that a bad view and I figured yours was the same since mine was the same two doors down. I did not know what you thought so that is why I was asking. I had no intension of acting like you were wrong or were crazy. Sorry for the misunderstanding.

Well what's your email address? I think you would interested to see a picture of the view from the room I had, because it's not like the picture you took from yours.

Hey freediver. Is it a good quality photo? If so send it to me and I will put it on my web page and have it there so people can see what the view is like. It would be helpful information.

I wonder if freediverdude was there before the MK trees were trimmed a year or two back. They had grown to the point that you could really only see the top of the castle but were trimmed to once again reveal a good part of it as seen in Tikiman's picture.

I disagree with the post saying you must book Hawaii to ensure a castle view. I truly think all the resort was designed so all rooms that face the lagoon also have a view of the castle (remember Hawaii wasn't even concierge back then). But of course all those tropical plants have a pesky way of growing and sometimes obscuring that magical view.

Although CR and GF have closer views, I prefer the Polynesian's view. To me it is more magical because you don't see the monorail station, the crowds and from the CR even a parking lot. We had a room in Conch Key that had a wonderful view of MK but it was a busier view. But I could sit out there all day watching nonetheless.
