Can you ride in the front with the monorail drivers anymore?

I remember doing this when I was 18 with my little neice, but after trying to find out if this is still possible, I'm reading about a poor 21 year old monorail driver who lost his life after 2 monorails collided back in July 2009. :sad2:
So I'm guessing this is no longer an option or have they made them safer since then and are now allowing guests to ride with the driver once more? :confused3

Nope and I have noticed they have taken away the waiting areas they used to have for the front cars.

When we were waiting to board at the Contemporary Resort in April a couple in front of us asked a castmember and was told it was not allowed anymore, such a shame and I believe they use to give to the children who rode up front a monorail pilot's license.

That's a shame. I guess I'm just lucky I got chance to do it when I was 18 then. x

And big kids too..my DH has a few of them!!!!:rotfl:

We used to love riding up front..

Next time you go you should take your DH's monorail pilot's license and show the platform castmember that you have a license to ride and drive in the cockpit, how can they refuse an official monorail pilot's license issued by Disney, might prove to be a bit of a laugh.:rotfl:

It is such a shame. We were lucky enough to do this several times, would have loved my kids to do it.

We were so lucky to ride up front of a monorail on a New Year's Eve after dining at Narcoossees restaurant. It was incredible to see the crowds waiting to leave MK and we had the cool space of the cockpit!
