Can you request late checkout with DVC?

Sorry if this has been asked. Search tool wasn't working for me.

Our flight has been rescheduled 3 hours later for our departure and we are traveling with small children....I'm wondering if you can request a later checkout similar to hotels?

This will be our first stay at the BCV since becoming members last year. :banana:
 
Sorry, no. The villas take much longer to clean than a regular hotel room and they are usually very close to 100% filled, so each unit must be ready for new guests by 4:00. You can still use the pool and the facilities near the pool to change. Or you could see whether you can add an additional night to your reservation. Good luck!
 
We went to the park the morning of our check out for breakfast, well it took us a little longer then expected. So we were frantically trying to get back to OKW. I called the resort, & explained to them that I was trying to hurry back. I asked the guy if we could get a 12pm check out, & he was very ugly about it. He asked me "are you even a DVC member"? Then we got disconnected. I called right back & got a lady, I explained to her what had just happened, & she was like 12 is fine. So now I make sure we are completely out before going to breakfast :goodvibes
 
I ask every year at BWV and am always told that they do not do late check out there. Have gotten it years ago at BW Inn.

They will hold your bags at the front desk. Probably doesn't help with little kids.
 

No late checkouts for DVC. Your best bet would be to add a night at your resort so you can have the afternoon.

Remember, too, that you have the Breezeway, the Solarium and a few other spaces where you can crash with the little kids while you wait for your ride.
 
Another option is to book a day room at the Hyatt at MCO. Its a popular choice for cruisers with later flights and little kids.
 
When people checkout late it causes problems with having the room ready for guest checking in. It is hard to get in to room before 3 just because of other guest not being out on time. We have had to wait untill 4 sometimes. I would suggest you try and change your flights or after you check out go for a nice long meal you can stay at the resort maybe do some gift shopping and they have plenty of rest rooms, They will not mind if the children take a nap in the setting room. PLEASE abide by the checkout rules. If you must stay beyond 11, then make your reservation one day longer at the beginning. There is a very long thread on these boards about "self extenders". If you read that thread you will see all the problems staying beyond checkout time causes. Timeshares are not like hotels. They are meant to be at 100% occupancy at all times. You can imagine what a nightmare it would be if even 10-20% of those rooms had late checkouts. With most having full kitchens as well as multiple bathrooms and beds to clean.
 
I find the search tools don't work very well, but if you google search with disboards at the end of your question, you'll come up with all your answers.

Thanks for the responses. I was just curious whether it was allowed..but if not then we will deal. (I would never deliberately stay in the room later than we are supposed to). We are checking out on Fri morning...It would be a rather expensive points-wise to extend a 2BD for a Friday night stay to have a couple more hours in the room. Plus I doubt there would be availability at the BCV during food & wine.

We purchased our tickets a while back..Originally had a 3PM direct flight home..Delta had a schedule change and automatically changed us to a 7PM flight. They only have two direct flights and the other is too early..
GRRRR.

There are worse things in the world than to be stuck in Disney for 4 more hours :rolleyes1

Don't you just hate it when the airlines manage to mess up your schedule? My luck is usually the opposite though. They usually change it to earlier, when I booked a later flight.

It only happened twice for me, one was official.

The unofficial one was when we were packing the car the heavens decided to open up. I mean cats and dogs. I called housekeeping to advise of the situation, and they said they understood and we worked around it and got out by noon. I kept packing the car but it slowed things down.

The other time they disabled our key cards at 9:30 and by the time we were able to get back into the room it was 11:30. Why it took them that long is beyond me. The shocker was we were in the process of packing car and all of a sudden the keys wouldn't work. They said take your time as long as they know what is happening and to let them know when we leave. On that one we got out about 12:30/12:45.
