Can you request an earlier DME bus pickup time?

I know some people have been saying they thought being picked up 3 hours before their flight leaves is a bit early.

My concern is that as I'm an international traveller we are advised to get to the airport approx 3 hours before the flight. All that security takes an age.

If I think the bus time I'm given is too late, can I get an earlier bus? Would I have to arrange that in advance or could I just turn up at the front lobby early?

When they arrange times for international travellers, the times should be automatically adjusted to reflect appropriate times. However, if you would like an earlier pick up time from what is given to you, that can be done.

Miss Mickey Mania, if you want to take an earlier bus you can just find out what times the buses run at your resort, usually every 30 minutes, and come out during one of those earlier times. Usually, unless it is a weekend afternoon, we have room for extras. (I drive for DME) :moped:

It is a good idea to at least ask and try to get return ME bus vouchers with the desired earlier boarding time in writing.

No transportation system taking guests back to an airport can function properly unless it either uses reservations or provides unlimited service at each pickup time.

It is just my belief that the normal 3 to 2-3/4 hour pickup time in advance of your flight is actually intended to have some slop so if you can't get on the assigned bus you can take one next bus a half hour later. If you are on a charter flight or an international flight or on Southwest with its reported long check in lines at the airport, by all means ask for an earlier bus back to the airport. Otherwise if your assigned ME bus departs full without you or doesn't arrive in 15 minutes you have to ask Disney to furnish alternate transportation.

Thanks everyone, that has eased my mind. Just this crazy pre-trip paranoia setting in as usual!

The DME buses do not run every 30 minutes like the park buses do. These coaches only pick up if there are guests with reservations waiting, and then only pick up those who are assigned to be picked up.
