Hi - were hopefully finalizing a resale. I put the 1000 deposit on a credit card
Will they let me put the balance on the credit card?

Thanks!

I used Fidelity and I could put the deposit on the credit card. The amount was billed only a few days after ROFR passing.
For other brokers it can be different, I have no idea.

With the Timeshare Store/Magic Vacation Title we had to send a certified check or a money order. No charging.

We went through the Timeshare Store. The initial deposit was a personal check from our acct. Balance had to be a certified check. I don't think they accepted credit cards

I used Fidelity and First American Title and was able to put my $500 deposit and an additional $ 2000 of the balance on my credit card. The rest I sent as a cashiers check.

I have closed multiple contracts through four different brokers and none of those would allow final payment via credit card. Cashier's check or money order directly to the title company and usually via overnight service.

Griz

Missy, who did you ask or what did you say to get them to let you charge more than $1,000 on your card? I would love to do that to get the miles and then pay it off at the end of the month.

I was given the option for the deposit. Then when I received the closing docs I called my rep at the title company and asked if I could put any of the remaining balance on my Visa, she told me their limit was $2000, so that's what I put on the card. I think Cammy was my rep at First American Title.

It was a nice little bonus to get the rewards on my Disney Visa. :thumbsup2

I used DVC's financing and when I paid off the mortgage early I was able to use a credit card and get points for the transaction.

DVC will allow you to pay the balance with a credit card. ;)

Otherwise Fidelity is the only one that I've heard of allowing any part of the balance to be charged to a CC.

We have only bought through Disney but we were able to put the whole amount on our credit card. Though we could have paid for the whole thing 'cash'($30,000); we wanted the points we could earn. It definitely helped paying for our airline tickets!

In the future, we will be interested in resale so I will be curious to see what answers you get from other people.

After reading the other posts, Perhaps Disney has changed their policy since or after we purchase in '08?

Almost all the people who have posted in this thread bought via resale.

Our 1st contract was from Disney and I did credit card for points also -
The second was from the time share store and I wired the money from the
bank ,I beleive to the title company -

Disney will still let you use up to 4 credit cards for purchase

That is super scary to me. Call me a bit of a pessimist, but to me that sounds like they are saying that they don't care if you can't afford it, as long as you can run up all of your credit cards you can buy DVC.

What scares me is I agree!

If you need 4 cards for a purchase it costs too much.

A. I do think Disney does not concern itself if you go in over your head in debt.
B. We are talking big purchases here, perhaps larger than a credit limit on a single card, or 2. If I can put my purchase on credit card(s) and get the miles/points, versus a cashiers check or wire transfer, that is a big bonus! Would even buy a couple of airline tickets to actually take that vacation. The key is to make sure that you pay off your credit cards in full by the end of the billing cycle. I don't understand why people who can pay by check wouldn't opt to do the same by credit card if that's an option.

And that's my point...if I'm making a purchase that's bigger than the limit of my biggest credit card, I might stop and think about it a little.
