can you order take-out for your table service?

We are having trouble getting reservations when we need them and wondered if we could order our food to go for our table service through the DDP? I guess if it's a buffet, that may not work, but if it's just entrees, desserts, etc. would that work OK?

No. Disney's table service restaurants are not equipped or staffed to provide take-out service.

You might need to consider being more flexible with your times, or your choices, or both - especially if your trip is soon; also, keep trying.

About the only way you can get carry-out at any Table Service location is to have been seated, ordered and started your meal and then have to leave. Often you can order your dessert to go with no problem. But the kitchen staffing is based on the number of seats in the restaurant and the expectation to get the seated guests fed and out.

Yep, I agree with this. This January we ate at Narcossees. It was the last night to use up our TS credits and my husband was sick. He went anyhow and I ate and he drank tea. He ordered and took one bite, then they packaged it up to take home. For desert, they just packaged it (and the crab cake appetizers too). We had a wonderful server (the same one for the last 4 visits). She babied my husband and I enjoyed a wonderful meal. She even gave him some meds in our bag to go. She made him some nice hot tea in a press pot too. We ate his meal the next night and it was still just as great. We tipped her above and beyond the norm.

We tried the "sick card" and it did not work for us. We ordered and said that my son felt ill and needed it "to go". The food had not arrived yet. We were at spoodles. Truth was we were tired and the kids were cranky and we just wanted to go back to our room. That is what we get for lying! I guess the trick is waiting for the food to arrive. Too much trouble though in my opinion. Unless ofcourse your husband is really sick!

My husband was so sick the night before he spent the first 24 hours in bed/bath. I guess she knew he was sick just by looking at him. However, I ate my entire meal while he nursed a cup of tea. Had it not been our last day to use up our credits (we were switching rooms) I would have rescheduled. We are heading back in 2 months and I did book Narcossees again just to make up for him missing it last time (he barely remembers it). I guess the reason they didn't mind packing it up was because I stayed throughout the entire meal and he managed not to get sick.

we had a similar exp at our last trip- we where with a group of 7 adults and 5 children total and I was feeling so sick (I think it was stress and lack of sleep) the whole day but I really wanted to try and do our dinner at Le Cellilur- I went, we where seated and the smell of the place (didn't smell bad- just like food BTW) was too much for me- I had to go- so me and DH ordered our stuff to go- the rest of our party our dd included, stayed and ate- and brought our food back- although I think the desserts they could pack up where limited- and they left out our appys- it was still pretty good- I am looking forward to trying them again next year when we go back.

A couple of years ago when my DD was 2 1/2, we were on the dining plan and went our first night, after a long day of traveling, to Olivia's at OKW. By the time it came time for dessert, DD had had it and I asked to take our desserts to go. I was told no and when I asked to speak to the manager, they told me that the dining plan was for people dining and eating in the restaurant ONLY and they would not budge. Now, it's not like I was trying to buck the system, I simply had a tired toddler. I thought it was ridiculous that a manager couldn't make that judgement call and in our case, box up our desserts. We have since found that the dining plan is not the best choice for us for a number of reasons, and will not be using it again. But you can be sure that the next time I'm at Olivia's and not on the DP, I'm going to make a point of taking my dessert to go!

As the others have said, in most cases you cannot order food to go, however if the food has already been presented to you they can and will box up the leftovers. I am not a big eater but love my dessert and they have always boxed up the remainders for me. I even bring my own Tupperware because sometimes those boxes are flimsy and I've still got a day ahead of me. The tupperware is great for also keeping the brownies and cookies you often get as a CS snack in one piece until you're ready for it.

That is terrible. I used the DDP for some trips and the DDE for others. We have eaten at most of the places and go to WDW every other month. I can't tell you how many deserts I've brought back to my room. Often the frig is filled with deserts by the time we get middle way through our trip. Just in January I had my cake boxed up at LeCellier and my husbands almond crusted cheesecake at Narcossees boxed for later. Wow, I've never been denied the opportunity to take my desert for later.

We were not on the dining plan and they still would not do it. Some friends of ours got hosed with the dining plan when the husband fell ill for 4 days of the trip. Money down the drain. We have run the math and almost always (5 of 6 times) came out ahead by not doing the dining plan. But thats another thread!

Olivia's doesn't do anything to go, at all. They won't box up your dessert even if you aren't on the dining plan.

Now if it was a restaurants policy that they do not do this, I would be fine with it. But the one thing I left out was that on that same trip, we had some friends who just happened to be staying at OKW at the same time that we were there. They ate at Olivia's twice during their vacation. The first time we ran into them was just as they had come out of Olivia's - and guess what they were carrying? Their desserts. And they actually were on the dining plan and did this not once but twice on their trip.

Maybe it depends on who your server is, but if this is to be their policy, they need to stick to it, and maybe also make it known somewhere on the menu. We're going very soon and I intend to explore this further.

OT:
I agree that the dining plan can be a liability if certain circumstances...but darned if I don't absolutely love the convenience of it! I especially like coming home and not seeing my CC with an enormous balance.
