Can you not 'lay by' your vacation packages now??

In process of planning a trip for 2015 with my SIL and 2 friends and just priced out AKL, came to the payment screen and it says that the whole total is due TODAY as soon as you click submit? When we did our package for October in January you could pay a deposit and pay it off over the next few months.. when did they get rid of that?? Seems rather stupid, I mean I don't know about all of you but we certainly don't have $2000+ sitting in our bank accounts right this minute so paying it off is much easier as I'm sure it is for a lot of other people.

I was just telling my SIL about how easy it is to pay for wdw stays too since you could pay it off :confused3

Easier to do room only... One nights deposit due and the rest at check out.....

As the vacation date comes nearer, switch to a package if you prefer... We like room only for the discount...

Either way, you still have to pay for the vacation!

2015 rates are out there yet. It was not too long ago that the 2014 package rates were announced.

We didn't pay in full for our trip when we booked it. Are you going directly through Disney or through a third party? As a pp said, 2015 rates are not even out yet.

We just booked our 2014 trip as a package, and we can pay-as-we-wish, so long as it's paid by a certain date. There's a "make a payment" link right next to my reservations in MDE.

Was the day you were comparing to less than 45 days out?

It's still current practice that package reservations have a $200 deposit with balance due 45 days before check-in. Room only reservations have a 1 night deposit with balance due upon check-in.

So, either the comparison date was less than the 45 day thing, or the website was glitched (which, wouldn't surprise me one bit).

That is my question as well.

Must've been a glitch, seems to be fine now. I was looking at 2014 prices trying to get a rough idea for 2015. My issue was when I was pricing the things out the payment page had three options: total price, due by and balance due today (which was the whole price of the vacation) and it did this for 4 different price enquires I did so it seemed like Disney had changed something because even the booking page was different, it didn't offer dining choices, DME, flights etc. Any way it's all fixed now so thanks all for your replies :)

Either way, you still have to pay for the vacation!

Of course you still need to pay for it, that wasn't my question or issue though..

Glad you worked it out Lisa! Hope you enjoy your trip:earsboy:
