Can you merge two reservations booked under separate memberships?

We have two use years. I’ve merged two reservations within one membership before, but I’ve never tried to do it across memberships. I expect it’s a no go, but thought I would double check.

If you made reservations under different memberships and want to stay in the same room - You can link the reservations - is that what you’re asking?

You can’t merge them, but if you call DVC, they will make a note on the reservation that is first, that it is one of two. That way the hotel will try to keep you in the same room.

I just did this a few hours ago. We booked through a rental agency for 3 days, and then we had an RCI room for 7 days, so they made a note. We’re hoping to stay in the same room for both.

It’s not guaranteed but every time I’ve linked reservations we’ve been allowed to stay in the same room.

After all, they don’t want to pay housekeeping twice for your stay.

That’s awesome to hear! I was hoping it would be that way. This is our first time to do this and it will make life much easier if we can do it that way.

I have "linked" successive reservations from two use years a number of times over the last fourteen years. I have never had to change rooms when that was done. In the earlier part of those fourteen years, they did require you to go to the front desk on the turnover day and check-in to the room again. I have not had to do that anytime during the last six years. What may still occur is that they close out the bill for the first use year reservation on the turnover date and start a new one under the other use year, but you need not do anything when that occurs. Each use year reservation is treated separately for reserving at 11 or 7 months out. Also, the restaurant reservation period (pre-pandemic 180 days, now just 60), began separately for each use year reservation. Likewise, fast-pass (pre-pandemic, there is none right now) reservations had separate 60-day out periods.

Also, be aware that if there is any possibility you may change one or both of the reservations, such as switching them to a different resort at 7-months out, you should avoid linking them until after the 7-month window passes, because once two reservations are linked, it is impossible to cancel or modify either of them online and you have to first contact MS to unlink the reservations.

Going to add to be sure to go to the front desk when you get there and make sure they have slated you to be in the same room.

I too do this all the time but always check because if I wasn’t, the time to get it fixed, if possible, is before you enter the first room.

I will make a note to do that. Thank you!

I have 2 reservations for next month. Same resort and room type/view. I screwed up when I transferred my points from one UY to the other and did not quite do enough. And instead of messing with it, I just linked the 2 reservations together. Oh I also booked the front 2 days on the reservation at 7 months out versus the 11 of the first part. The cast member I spoke to on the phone was very helpful and actually put notes on both reservations (the first advising of the second, and the second advising of the first and the desire to stay in the same room). She included the other reservation numbers. I never would have thought to put the information on both reservations, but she made that suggestion and it really did make sense to me. So maybe ask to have it added in the notes to both. I do plan to stop by the front desk when we arrive to reiterate that we have 2 reservations and that we really would like to stay in the same room.
