We have a surpise trip planned to celebrate our son's birthday. Around 10 people know about this trip but I am afraid I will be the one to say something. We are only telling him on the Sat we leave that we're going on an adventure. We're going to visit dh family for 2 days (so he'll think that's the surprise). He won't know that we're going to WDW until we actually get close enough for him to figure it out. Can I keep the secret until Nov????

Hang in there you can do it!! I know it is hard, but I kept it from my DH. I called his boss and put in his time off and had the trip paid for before we went. He was thrilled. Very fun!:D

I wouldn't be able to keep it in-I would be way to excited about it. Maybe you could start a journal and everytime you have an urgue to say something, then you should write it down instead of telling your DS about the surprise trip.

Seeing his eyes light up with the surprise pretty well takes care of anything I want to say to him. I know they'd light up anyway, but he will be beside himself with excitement!!!

It's hard, but I kept the secret from Aug 2003 until June 2004. I didn't want to tell the kids in case something happened and we had to cancel. I couldn't have dealt with their disappointment as well as my own. I let oldest dd in on the "secret" about 5 days in advance because she knew we were going somewhere, just not WDW. She kept the secret from her little sister and we told youngest dd the morning of.

We're keeping our December trip a secret from DD until we go, but she's 3, so it isn't like she's hard to fool...

Me: "Hey, do you want to ride Goofy's Barnstormer again on our next trip ?"

DD: "When are we goin' again ?"

Me: "Look, shiny object !"

Doesn't exactly take a master of deception

Welcome Mountaineer! There is no way I can keep a surprise for any amount of time! We aren't going until January and I am already busting from wanting to tell my guys about the trip! Have a great time!

Lol...How sad is that...I didn't even notice that this thread was posted by a fellow Mountaineer !

Welcome aboard ! Always good to have another West-By-God-ian around :teeth:

We took our Twins on a surprise trip back in Feb 2003. It was planned from Oct 2002. We also took my parents. We sent the kids to school as usual that fri morn and then picked them up at 11 so they wouldnt be counted absent that day. The school closed anyway for most of our trip due to snow. When we arrived at the school they were both coming down with colds so they thought we were taking them home. Both really looked unconcerned until we got out to the parking lot and told them that someone had stolen our car (we had rented one) and we were going to have to steal someone elses car to go on a special ride. They didnt know my parents were coming until my parents walked into the AKL when we were checking in. It was great. They had a great time and were compeltely surprised!

I would never do that...I think the antcipation is part of the fun...

Ooooooooh! I hope you can do it! :bounce: I know I never could. I get way too excited! LOL! :p

Good luck in keeping the secret! :bounce:
