Ok I am trying to decide on whether or not to do the dining plan. I know for sure that we will be at HS on July 4th and would like to go to Sci-fi cafe.
We will be at MK on the 5th, AK on the 6th, Epcot on the 7th and the 8th and 9th are up in the air. MK will definitely be one of the days. I don't know what to plan for the 9th. I guess whatever we like the best.
So if I get the dining plan with the table meals I want to make the most of it. This is our first time at Disney and I have a DS(7) and a DD(5). We are more into seeing something new and different rather than fine dining.
My niece wanted to go to the Rainforest Cafe but I don't believe that either that or T-Rex is included in the dining plan. We thought they were in Animal kingdombut they are in Downtown Disney. I don't know how far away that is from each park.
We are staying at one of the All Stars. I noticed that many of the character dining opportunities are at resorts. I just don't know how long does it take to get from one of the parks to the resort. Which are closest to which park?
All of the parks we are going to have late EMK. Our party plans on arriving at the parks around 9AM. I wouldn't mind doing a late character breakfast but

We do not have a hopper pass.
So to sum it up we would like to have unique dining experiences on the dining plan while still having optimal time at the parks.

Can someone help me make a plan for dining?

Thank You,
Lori

Ok, it will depend on your dining plan. Deluxe or regular? Deluxe is 3 meal credits (sit down or counter service) and 2 snacks per person, per day. Regular is 1 counter service (CS) 1 table service (TS) and 1 snack per person per day. You can use these credits however you want. (for example you can eat 6 meals one day and not eat any the next) There are 2 Rainforest Cafe's. One in DTD and one right at the entrance to MK. They are NOT of the DDp.

There are character meals in the parks. Crystal Palace (Pooh and friends) in MK.

Tusker house in AK

AUskerhaus in Epcot

Following is a link to the dining plan brochure which has all the details on which restaurants are included and whether they are a TS (table service) or QS (Quick Service) restaurant.

http://adisneyworld.disney.go.com/m...09 Disney Dining Plan - Walt Disney World.pdf

Character meals are both in and out of the parks. Some are 1 TS and some are 2 TS credits. To my mind 1 TS credits are a better deal for your money.

Bear with me if I forget one but Character meals at the Resorts include:
1900 Park Fare at the GF - Breakfast and Dinner - monorail resort
Chef Mickey's at the CR - Breakfast and Dinner - monorail resort - walking distance to MK
'Ohana at the Poly - Breakfast Only - Monorail resort
Cape May Cafe at the BC - Breakfast Only - resort is walking distance to Epcot or DHS can also take boat

There are also multiple oppoturnities in the parks:
Crystal Palace in MK
Tusker House in AK (Breakfast only)
Hollywood and Vine in DHS (Not sure which meals) Characters are Playhouse Disney - Jojo, Little Einsteins, etc.
Akershus Princess Meals (All three meals I believe) - in Epcot
Garden Grill (dinner only I think) - in Epcot

Finally, for a very limited time and with no guarantees that he will appear Remy from ratatouille has sometimes been spotted at Chefs de France in Epcot during Lunch Time. If you do a search of the restaurant threads you should find some info on this.

Also you can meet characters for 2TS at Mickeys Backyard BBQ and the Princess Meals at the Castle (Meals at the castle are Very Hard to Get and Generally Sell out at the 90 days window)

Character meals can be hard to get so you need to book them as soon as possible.

If you just want a fun dining experience that is not necessarily characters there are some places that were recommended to me include the Biergarten in EP for the fun Oom Pah music, 50's Prime Time in DHS where apparently, the waiters and waitresses are in character from the 50s. Whispering Canyon Cafe at WL is supposed to be loud and boistrous with different things happening all the time. And 'Ohana at the Poly for dinner is also supposed to be fun.

Read thru the threads on the restaurant boards and ask people there what they think. They are full of info. Check also the menus on allears.net. There are little tidbits there also about what kind of entertainment may be found at some of the restaurants.

I am here to help you out. You are allowed to make your reservations 90 days out, and it has already passed that mark. If I were you, I would figure out your plan within the next day or two and call (407 WDW-DINE) to make reservations because the meals get booked up quickly.

Here's what I would do: July 4th--Hollywood Studios--Sci Fi Cafe (dinner, between parade and fantasmic)

July 5th--MK--Take monorail to Chef Mickey's at the Contempory resort, or Crystal Palace with Winnie the Pooh characters, or monorail to Grand Floridian to Cinderella dinner (Cinderella, Prince Charming, Stepsisters, stepmother)

Jly 6th--AK--Donald's Safari Breakfast at Tusker House. Rainforest Cafe is not included on the DDP

July 7th--EPCOT--Princess Breakfast at Akershus in Norway. You get a free picture package with Belle. The food is best at breakfast, and out of the ordinary at lunch and dinner (traditional norweigian foods then). Otherwise there is dinner at the garden grill with Chip and Dale.

July 8th--MK--Do one you didn't do on the 5th.

July 9th--Go to Downtown Disney. They have another rainforest cafe and t-rex there. Neither are on the dining plan, so if you got the dining plan, you'd have to pay out of pocket for this meal. There are places that do take the dining plan here--Planet Hollywood is a good one.

Any questions, just PM me. Good luck!
