Hi - We will be going to WDW for a couple of days pre-cruise next March. Ideally we'll have a 1BR at BLT but I'm also considering a suite at AoA. Basically, I'm not willing to pay full rack rate (spring break rates no less!) at BLT and hope that a discount comes out. But if one doesn't, then we would stay in a family suite at AoA. We simply need the space with our family of 5. So, I'd like to book both rooms to ensure that I can get them but will cancel BLT if no discount comes out or cancel AoA if one does. Is this allowed? Frowned upon?

Its allowed but if you do room only reservations for both, you'll have to put down a one night's deposit for both. You'll also have a waiting period to get the money refunded to you once you cancel. If you will be booking a package with tickets, you will have to put down $200 for each reservation. To avoid confusion in the system if you are worried about that, you could always do a reservation in your name and one in someone else's name (significant other or someone over 18).

For 1 to 2 months last Fall, I had reservations at POP and at POR for the same dates. I thought it might be a problem but it wasn't. When I decided which one I would keep, I just called and cancelled the other one.

I've held two different reservations in the past as well. As others have said, you have to pay the deposits for both and whichever one you cancel will be refunded. Just note that the cancellation policies for a room only reservation and packages are different.

Just a note, it doesn't necessarily matter if you already have a reservation at BLT when the discounts come out. They only release a limited number of rooms for the discounts, so if they're out of the rooms for your dates, you won't be able to get the discounted BLT rate even if you have a reservation for those dates. I found out when I tried to apply the discounted rate to an existing Beach Club reservation.
