if it is part of the same group of resorts that the bus is going to?

We'll be arriving via redeye into MCO at around 6:30 am and staying at POR. The plan that day is to have breakfast as soon as we get to the resort (FWIW, we will not be on a dining plan) and then go to Typhoon Lagoon.

However, the last time we stayed at POR, we found Riverside Mill to be very chaotic in the morning. So we're thinking about breakfast at Olivia's at OKW instead. Assuming our Magical Express bus is also stopping at OKW (I realize this is not guaranteed), can we just get off there? (after breakfast, we'd go to Typhoon Lagoon straight from OKW and then check into POR later that afternoon).

The alternative would be to simply take a very short taxi ride from POR to OKW but don't want to do this if we don't have to.

Yes, IF your bus happens to stop at a resort at which you'd like to get off in lieu of your ultimate destination there is nothing to prevent you from disembarking. It might be a little tricky if you have luggage that is stored under the bus as they generally place it in a specific location based on where you are going. You just tell them where you are going so it's not a big deal but if you tell them OKW and then the bus winds up stopping at POR first, it might create some confusion and vice versa.

Exactly. And of course you are now responsible for wrangling your luggage. How will you get it to the resort you are actually staying at? You can't take it on the Disney buses, so you'll probably wind up with a taxi/uber.

I'm assuming that they're planning on letting DME handle the luggage.

Tagged and checked luggage won't be an issue at all. In fact, this really won't work very well if you don't use the DME luggage service. Tagged and checked bags will get to the resort where you are staying and to your room regardless of where you get off of the bus. Any carry-on bags are what will be the tricky part.

The problem is that the bus routes are very fluid. You have no way of knowing which resorts the buses will go to.

We have - staying at Boardwalk we decided to hop off at the YC and walk rather than waiting for all the other stops. It was unplanned though and we just had small backpacks with us as we used the DME luggage service for the checked bags. I did tell the bus driver on the off chance that we were the only BW guests so he wouldn't stop if it wasn't necessary.

Probably not something you can really plan ahead for though as the routes are different all the time.
