One of the little girls on our trip to WDW in October has her birthday 4 days before we go. Would it be in appropriate to get her a 'It's My Birthday' button at guest services the first day we are there? Or would walt frown on us?

Thanks
Vickie

I would tell you to do it. You'll be creating a great memory. Why deny the child a chance to celebrate her birthday in the best place in the world to celebrate it? I am almost sure Walt would not mind if it made her day more magical :wizard: - which it definately would. The perks are great and so many people will wish her a Happy Birthday, wouldn't you like that?

I'll give you my standard Disney celebrates it's b-days from 12 to 18months at a time. So you doing so for a few days is no problem.

We even made a few stickers for Dd's last 2 trips thats said yesterday or Fri was my B-day so she could were it for the entire trip. They did go to a YOAMD button that is the same for all the parks. We liked the different ones she got the year before Epcot was real nice.

Can adults get a button?? I'll be there for my B-day this year. Actually I've been to disney lots of times on my b-day and I never knew about a birthday button...

Okay Dis bday experts---I need some specifics---we are going May 2-8 "in honor of" my May 14th bday---it is my bday trip---so, is it okay to ask for that button if I am there a week earlier than my real bday? SW package was only reason we're not there on my actual.

Thanks for the reply!!!

your actual birthday does not need to be a few days away. it can be weeks, months or even years away (maybe even past lives are acceptable, i don't know). disney just doesn't care. you can celebrate on one day. you can celebrate every day. you can celebrate on the first, third, fourth and seventh days.

the only thing you need to contend with is how the child may take it as that can be a confusing concept.

We have gotten the button when we were there to celebrate a birthday but it wasn't the actual day. We just wear it one day and enjoy any congratulations we get.

When we were there in Oct, celebrating my dd's 13th birthday with a friend of hers that turned 13 the day after we got hom, they had two styles of birthday buttons...one said 'today is my birthday' the other said 'celebrating my birthday at WDW' (or something similar to those!). Dd and her friend wore the 'celebrating my birthday at WDW' on the days before her birthday. On the actual day she pulled out the 'today is my birthday' button.
Disney really doesn't care if it's the actual day. Everyone seems to be celebrating something at WDW!! I just wouldn't count on anything special, other than 'happy birthday' greetings happening. Sometimes 'magic' happens but not as often as we are led to believe.

We have done this twice before. We have been down to Disney in Nov. to celebrate my DH and DD's birthdays. They were both actually the week before we got there, but we got the buttons anyway. We actually got one from each park because they are different. (I think 2 parks had the same one and the other 2 were different). When we went this past Dec. we were celebrating my birthday as well as my DN and BIL and my DSIL and DBIL's anniversary. We have our b-days on the last 2 days of the year. We were actually there the 16-23 and got the buttons again. It doesnt matter if it isnt the actual day. You are there to celebrate the birthday so get the buttons. I did notice that this past Dec. the buttons all seemed to be the same for every park. DSIL and DBIL got the anniversary buttons too!!

i was just thinking of this the other day. Our daughter turns 5 two days before we arrive. I wanted to make it special ( we usually celebrate the weekend after) but didn't know if it was acceptable.

Yes, by all means pick up a button. I got mine the day before my birthday, and wore it that day, my birthday, and the two days after.

Disney doesn't ask for proof or anything, so go ahead, pick up a button!!!

I have gone to the Disney the past 2 years for my birthday and am heading down for it again in 12 more days! It's fun to wear the button and have everyone wish you happy birthday! I have had CM's go out of their way to come over and wish me happy birthday and one time the Barber Shop Quartet on Main Street pulled me over and sang Happy Birthday! :goodvibes

I will say one thing about having a child wear the button when it is not their birthday....I took my niece to WDW and her 6th birthday was the week before we went. I got her a birthday button for our 1st day and I gotta say, she didn't like it! Everyone was wishing her Happy Birthday and I really think she felt like she was fibbing to Disney or something. If anyone asked if it was her actual birthday, I would say "No it was last week, but coming to Disney is her birthday present." but she still felt funny I think. About 1/2 way through the day, she very quietly asked me if she could take the button off.
