Can You Feel the Love Tonight, My Trip with my Divorced Parents and two kiddos!

Hi,

I'm Karen and I'm starting my first Pre-Trip Report......yes, I'm Disney obsessed like you all and since I love reading all your reports, I figured it's time to start my own.......so Here Goes!

The Plan: June 10-17th at Carribean Beach Resort. Wohoo a new resort for us! The original plan was for Nama and I to take the kiddos somewhere new, Hershey Park, in Pennsylvania, but then Disney came out with the 4 for 7 deal.....yeah, they had us at 4 for 7!

The Characters and yes a few of them are "Characters"!

Me! (Karen 33)

Nama, my mom (Jan 58)

Grandpa, my dad (Dan 62)

Disney Son #1 (Josh 5) and Disney Son #2 (Korey 2)

Unfortunately, my hubbie will not be joining us on this trip! He does not get as much time off as I do......yet, he is very excited to have 1. a vacation from me and the kiddos, and 2. an empty house to do whatever he pleases!

The plan for now is to have Grandpa fly out on the 10th and for Nama, the kiddos and I to have a ROADTRIP! I know a 24 hour road trip with a 5yo and 2yo isn't exactly the best idea BUT getting on a plane at this point causes MEGA anxiety and something I'm not exactly wanting to do, especially after a recent HORRIBLE flight to San Francisco...Plus, we always drove to Disney as a child and I haven't done a road trip to Disney since my college days!

Okay.....so that's all for now.....I'm going to try and add my Trip report link to my signature....I read about this am, but not sure where the globe is everyone mentioned!

Just wanted to share a few pics of the Countdown Calendar we made last week....I'm never really ahead of the game, or at least that's how I feel, but for some reason we managed to get this done WAY AHEAD of schedule!!! It starts at the 23 day mark and I have since added "borrowed" Mickey Head paint samples to cover the days, but haven't snapped a pic of the completed version yet! We used lots of free stickers we received on previous Disney Trips from the DVC cast members and some from Disney Movie Club mailings! This was a nice activity to do with Josh and kept him busy for about a 1/2 hour!

I only have June 2009 on the calendar for now, cause I'm not exactly sure what day we are leaving.....I'm thinking Monday, June 8th, but as we get closer a final decision will be made!

Great start Karen. Some of my friends are also having a trip on the first week of June, How I wish I could come with them but impossible to happen. Our family planned to go on December so still waiting for 9 months more.

By the way, kids countdown calendar is really nice. Have a great and safe trip coming.

Thanks for reading! We haven't gone in June in a lOOOOOOng time! We usually go for free dining in September! But, I'm up for a change! We haven't gone in December ever, so I'm excited that you will get to see the Christmas Decorations! We did go in 2005 to DisneyLand in December and it was AWESOME! The decorations were beautiful! The holidays are just so magical and then you had Disney on top of it! Lots of fun!!!

Sometimes I wonder if they'll end up killing me before they kill each other! They have that LoveHate relationship going on! They are just like my grandparents......they too were divorced but hung out together still......go figure!! I haven't been to Disney with both of them since 2005....so, it will be interesting ...I'm glad my Dad is at Pop Century and we're at Carribean Beach....I'm hoping abscence will make the heart grow fonder?

We have decided to try and drive to Dalton, GA the first night! So, about 10 hours of driving time the first day and then about 8 hours the second day, which will hopefully put us very close to Mickey's Gates! So, I am looking into a hotel for Dalton, GA....I was checking out TripAdvisor and found a Country Inn and Suites....which may be a winner.....also, have to check out the DisBoards for any recommendations....haven't looked into that yet! Then, we will look into finding a hotel off-property near Mickey's House for the 2nd night! I am very excited to start searching, just finding the time to do so is a challenge!

As a side note, my husband took Josh and Korey to the doctor today and BOTH have bilateral pink eye and bilateral ear infections, plus Korey has the beginning of pneumonia! Poor pumpkins.....I knew Korey was sick , but Josh didn't complain about anything! I am very proud of my hubbie ....he took both kids to the doctor, then Korey for an Xray, and picked up the meds at Walgreens.....I had to work and feel like such a bad mommy!

Hi! Both Kiddos are feeling better! So, my mom and I are going to take them to Choo Choo Jhonny's for lunch today (A kid type restaurant that serves food on Train Cars).......Josh asked yesterday why we haven't gone there in awhile and I thought today...why not!? It's supposed to be 60 degrees today and they've been stuck in the house the last few days so they deserve an adventure out! Of course, it's not the Mickey School Bus (the bus transportation all around the Disney Resort) that Korey keeps asking to ride, but it should do!

I'm so mad! We went last Thursday to an indoor water park for the night and I really wanted to practice writing a trip report and add lots of pics, but my dang camera was dead and I didn't bring the charger....

I think I got a total of 5 pics.....oh well.......that just means we have to plan another adventure somewhere!

We did not find any Hidden Mickey's at the water park resort, BUT we stopped to eat on the way home at a restaurant that had lots of old toys, some which were Disney related......now, if my camera would have been working I could have shared some pics... I'm a sucker for salad bars and not too many places have those any more, so hopefully we will head there again soon and I will bring my camera along!
