Just wondering... When you stay at a monorail resort, does it seem more "magical"pixiedust: because of the close proximity to the MK? We may do the Poly next year, and it has always seemed to me like staying there would be more special than other resorts. For those that have stayed on and off monorail, what do you think?:scratchin

all of the disney resorts are magical to me - just being at WDW is magical...
but yes, i think you're right that being on the monorail makes it a bit 'more' magical....

For our family, yes, it was a lot more magical to stay on the monorail than off. There's something about riding the monorail "home" at night and listening to the familiar spiel after a long day at the MK or Epcot that is magical in and of itself. :goodvibes

Not so much for us - we prefer the YC/BC resorts over the MK resorts as that resort area seems inserted in all the magic with so much more todo. The monorail is cool, but it's not all that.

I definately feel more immersed when I stay at the BCV! Its great having my room just 5 mins away from Off Kilter!

I don't think there's any one resort or resort area that is more magical than the others. I think it's based more on what your family enjoys. There are some people who think AKL is the most magical resort, and it's the most far flung geographically! For me personally, I find as much magic in a monorail resort as I do WL or an Epcot resort - not more, not less, but the same. I feel the magic the minute I drive on property!

We feel more magical and special staying in the MK area. The 4 resorts and FW in the area plus the lakes seem to make the place the best location. The different modes of travel around and getting to the MK just heightens the experience for us. We like the EWP at night, seeing the fireworks over the castle and just all the lights from the resorts, sounds from the boats and hopping from resort to resort in the evening to make our stays better. Nothing beats a monorail to the TTC and transfer to the EPCOT for a nice ride to the park. All in all, its location to the park you enjoy the most and will spend time in more.

I know that, at least from the Poly, you can hear the parades going on, music etc. That just makes you want to hurry and get over there. One night we were at EPCOT when the MVMCP was going on. We got back to the Poly about 10:00 and it was very hard to hear it going on and not be there! Even though we had been there the night before.

Every family has a magical resort for them.

For me, its a tie between the Poly, Wilderness Lodge, and the Yacht Club.

Try it out. You may love it too :D

my dh hates the monorail so much that we have to stay at the epcot resorts now. i don't dislike the monorail and if you have kids they really seem to like it, as its kinda like another ride for them to go on. i would try out the poly though, it looks like a great resort!

I think it does.....we have stayed at several resorts and while we had great vacations at all of them, I just feel like I am in the "middle" of things when staying at the MK resorts on the monorail. I can watch the monorail going around the lake, see the castle, I just NEVER forget where I am at, if that makes sense.

I never thought it mattered as all the resorts have that Magical Disney feel.

But staying at BCV this past June made me feel like we were staying in the Parks and it did feel great . Dd loves a few rides in both Epcot and MGM so it was nice to just walk over and hit those single rider lines and a quick fastpass to get them in almost everyday of our stay while DW rested.

I would think the Monorail resorts are the same if hopping over to MK for a quick ride or show.

I think that it really depends on what YOU want because I have stayed at a monorail resort and off many times at different deluxe hotels and I have to say that I have loved every Deluxe Hotel differently because the theming is different.
Whatever you choose you will love.

BTW: The Poly is GREAT!!!!!:) :goodvibes

What an excellent question!!

While I have never had the opportunity to stay at a monorail resort, I have wondered if it makes the stay any "more" magical. I suspect it does - but it likely harkens back to childhood and the first opening of the Contemporary! AAH - to stay in a hotel where the monorail runs right through!!!:wizard:

Having switched from YC to WL after 3 days recently, I am very in touch with exactly what that rather indefinable "feel" is! If I get it at WL, but not at YC, would it increase if I got to stay at the Ploynesian??

We loved our stay at the YC, but maybe having a young child makes the monorail resorts seem more magical to us. That exciting monorail ride in the morning and the sleepy-yet-satisfied monorail ride in the evening are definitely a big part of the magic for us!

I think that when you are at Disney you are so "in the zone" that you feel the magic wherever you are. You cannot help but know you are at Disney and the smiles magically appear!!!
