I have several friends who I met online both local and non local and have spoken to for over 20 years. They were from wedding and baby groups. I have a local group and we met up every few months or so. Just had Christmas lunch with them over the weekend. I also met an online friend in person last week as she was vacationing here. We have “ known” each other for about 22 years.
Yes. I've met many of my closest friends online and I've even met up with a few IRL (you know who you are ). Heck, I have friends that I've met on other sites that I would invite to my wedding if that day ever came LOL
Yes, of course. It’s no different than the people who became friends by being pen pals long ago. I feel like interacting with people without the visual cues allows you to really get to know someone for who they are on the inside, which in my opinion is the most important component in a deep, long lasting friendship.
Oh yes. Some of my best friends are online only. I've met a few of them, which can be very strange because your picture of them in your mind if you haven't seen a photo of them can be very different. Personalities, too. I remember when I went to NY to meet up with some friends I met through an actor's fan club, everyone was surprised to find out that I'm rather quiet until I get to be comfortable in a group because I'm so vocal online.
Yes. I enjoy good whiskey and one of my newest friends was met through am internet forum. Samples shared, have met up for a trip and another in the works.
