Can you check regular Men's Wearhouse style garment bags at the port or do you have to carry them on? Also what are the luggage restrictions, i know you can carry on whatever you want, but is it a 2 bags per person checked limit? Thanks in advance for any help!

ETA: Sorry I forgot to specify that this question pertained to DCL only as we live only an hour from port. Thanks!

I would not check a garment bag like the one you describe. Your clothes will not be properly protected in something like that. It could be a carry-on though.
Baggage restriction vary slightly from airline to airline and depend mostly on weight. Most airlines charge for bags, especially overweight ones. (Southwest does not charge for bags.)
Most allow one carry-on (with size limitations) and one "personal item", such as a purse or briefcase.
If you booked with a TA, he/she should be able to help you with baggage limits.

Thanks Susan! Please see my ETA above as I forgot to add an important detail, D'oh! Sorry but thanks for your help

I don't have an answer for you but I wanted to say, CONGRATS ON YOUR WEDDING!!!!

I hope to have my own Disney wedding some day .... Some day my prince will come .... :rolleyes1 haha

I concur with the PPs. You do not want to check garment bags (give them to the port attendants to put them on the ship). Your belongings will not be sufficiently protected from the weight of other passengers' luggage. If I recall correctly, the checked luggage is essentially put on a skid-like device, and hoisted onto the ship in a net. They do the best they can with the luggage, but putting a flimsy garment bag with the heavier bags would most likely cause damage to the garment bag and contents.

DCL does not limit the number of checked bags. They send you two luggage tags per person, but the porters at the terminal will have extras (as will the welcome center at MCO and the cruise desks at WDW resorts). They will give you as many as you need and you write in your name and cabin number. They prefer it if you write in a permanent marker so it's easy to see.

The checked bags can be stacked and rather roughly handled at times. DD gave DCL a brand new suitcase--it arrived at our cabin with a small tear and a HUGE bend in the frame as well as a wheel missing! This was at Dover, not Port Canaveral. In fairness--they sent it to the luggage shop and when they were unable to repair it, they replaced the bag.

SO...I wouldn't check a soft garment bag.
