Can you check a stroller as regular luggage?

Has anyone done this?

We are planning to bring an old stroller for DS5 to use in the parks. I want to be able to put a ME luggage tag on it, check it in with our other luggage and then have it magically show up in our rooms. I don't want to drag it through the airport, gate check it, stroll it out to ME, deal with it on the bus, etc. Can this be done?

You might want to get one of those cheap stroller bags, that way the stroller has a little protection, old or not if it's check with your bags, it could get put at the bottom of a pile.

I don't see why you can't do that though.

Sure! I checked a Mac in a carrying bag last year. I just wrapped DS's Quilt around it for extra protection. No problems at all. I'd definitely put it in a bag, though, even though you say it is an old stroller - it would save it from getting snagged on something and just add a bit of protection.

Cheers!

We check our stroller also. We bought a stroller bag to put it in. This served a number of purposes...

- we were able to put DS booster seat in with the stroller so that we had it for the rental car
- a little extra protection for the stroller. It also won't accidentally pop open while it is being handled.
- the bag provides some extra space for souveniers for the return trip

We have both gate checked and checked strollers in the past. We usually just throw ours in a plastic bag they have at the airport and they always seem to do fine.

:confused3 How does Gate checking stroller work, ours will be a newer one most likely and would be leary of checking it ????????? :cool1: :cool1: :cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

You just ask to gate check it when you check in, they give you a tag, you take it right up to the end of the gate (usually where it turns into the plane) and then put it down. They put it under the plane from there, and when you land then pull it out (usually pretty quickly) and set it up for you. It is nice not to have to carry kids through busy airports with all the carry ons, etc...
