I recieved the $10 GC for pre-purchasing Lilo and Stitch and wanted to buy Disney Dollars with it. Is this possible?

Thanks

Well, that stinks  Hopefully, I will get some really nice CMs at my local store. Thanks for your help.

The "free" gift cards that you earn with a purchase are not to be used to purchase Disney Dollars...with the reasoning being that the $10 "free" card will be spent back at TDS. If you were allowed to purchase DD's with this free card, in essence, the Disney Dollars can be spent at either TDS or WDW and TDS wants you to spend the gift card back on store merchandise. Makes sense.

" This promotional card is redeemable for $$$ towards the purchase of merchandise sold at any Disney Store in the U.S., at Disney catalog or on DisneyStore.com. Not valid on theme park passes, Disney Dollars, gift certificates, gift cards, pre-sales, animation art (all cells and limited edition prints), Walt Disney Classics Collection, Disney Store phone orders, or shippoing and handling. Not valid in combination with any other sales promotion, gift with purchase offer, or discount. Merchandise must be in stock at time of purchase and can only be exchanged for identical items & returned at the discounted price with a valid sale receipt........."

Kitster- mine says somethign different on the back :

"This card is redeemable for merchandise sold at any Disney Store in the United States and Puerto Rico, or through DisneyStore.com and Disney Catalog. Purchases will be deducted from this card until the balance reaches zero. Disney Store Gift Card value may be added at any time at any Disney Store location in the US and Puerto Rico. Disney Store gift cards cannot be used as payment on your Disney Credit Card. Not redeembale for cash unless required by law. This card will not be replaces if lost, stolen or damaged, and Disney Store is not responsible for any unauthorized use of card. Not vaid toward the purchase of Dismny Store gift cards."

After reading this, I see no reason why I couldn't use the card for Disney Dollars.

Try it and see. I bought disney dollars with my gift card .

Herc.

Regular issued gift cards through TDS can be used for Disney Dollars. If you received a gift card that was a free gift for pre-purchasing a video/DVD, you should be denied the purchase of Disney Dollars. That would be like the Monsters/Beauty & Beast gift cards that came with a $50 purchase along with a pre-order.

The regular issued gift cards can be used on line, in the store and through the catalog. You can even add more dollars to these cards at any time and re-use them after additional amounts have been paid/added.

I agree with the previous post...however, at my DS last night, they were out of the promotional cards and were using the regular cards so mine can be used for DD!

We went to buy Disney Dollars for our trip and the girl asked if we had any Gift cards we wanted to redemme and I said "only the $10.00 B & B gift card I have, but can I use it for DD?" and she said "of course, it's considered merchadise".

FYI - Our GC did NOT say it could not be used. I guess some card specify different restrictions.

My Disney Store (Cherry Hill Mall in Cherry Hill, NJ) will not allow you to buy Disney Dollars with a Disney Gift Card. I tried on two occassions (different CM each time) and they were pretty adament that it wasn't allowed.

It really stinks, too, because either way they're getting a sale. Guess they don't see it that way.

The sale of Disney Dollars and WDW admission passports do not bring any $$$ value to the stores at the end of the day. Yes, it is money in the pocket for the Disney Company overall, but they do not show as sales $$$ on the daily total of what a Disney Store takes in on a daily basis.

So in essence, it is not considered a "sale" when you purchase them as say when you buy actual merchandise at the store.

I agree with you, but also disagree.

In order to qualify for the $10.00 GC, we ended up buying BOTH B & B and M.I. at TDS. We also started adding other stuff in order to qualify. So in essence, we spent extra money in order to be able to qualify for the "free" $10.00 GC.

I also ended up picking up other stuff at the store while getting my DD.

I feel whatever they do to bring in business will garner extra sales. How many people would pass up a new item to try if it is offered buy one get one free? I know I don't.

JMHO.
