Can you bring food into the parks?

This will be our first Disney trip with our kids, 6 and 2 and was hoping to be able to bring in some lunches or snacks ( ie trail mix or granola bars or apples or even peanut butter sandwiches). I hate the idea of having my kids eat fried foods every day or pizza. What is Disney's policy on this?

I am sure we will eat at least one sit down meal a day (planning on at least 3 character meals ) and we will try to have breakfast in our room before hitting the parks.

I read another great post about shipping down a package to your hotel before you leave ( diapers and non perishable foods, snacks etc. ) especially since we are flying and don't want to have to lug anything more than necessary. Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Is there anywhere to buy bottled water on the premises besides in the parks or at the food courts?

Thanks

Jackie

You won't have any trouble bringing in snacks to the parks. We have been 3 times this year with little ones 5&1 and we always do this. I just don't know how we could do it without peanut butter crackers! :flower: I also bring in small bottles of juice for the 1 yr old. They always search your bags when you go in, but they could care less about snacks. Have fun!

We took in snacks last year also. Also froze bottles of water and juice pouches the night before, that way they stay cold and are thawed when you are ready for one, usually packed a couple of not frozen ones to have early on, the frozen ones kept them cold. The only times we bought drinks were with meals, I know just this saved us a ton......as our crew puts away a lot of drinks.

official policy in the past has always been no outside food or drinks are allowed in any of the parks except the 2 water parks. However last I look the policy it is no longer on their site.

actually there are a lot of good healthy choices at WDW. Also at many of the counter service places you can get carrots with a combo instead of fries.

We were at Magic Kingdom last week and when they checked out bags going in they didn't care about the snacks. As a matter of fact, the CM checking bags next to us asked the guy whose bag he was checking if the chicken in his bag was for him. OF course he was joking and never took it and had no problem with him bringing it into the park.
