We'll probably be in the South Point area (building 52, most likely, given then nature of our reservation-handicapped, first floor, non-smoking). I think I read somewhere about a path to DTD from there, and was wondering if someone could tell me more about it. How long is the walk? Is it well lit? Clear enough for someone in an ECV and a stroller-pusher?

If you look at the map of OKW, you will see a golf cart path marked at the end of the cul-de-sac between buildings 54 and 55. This is where the path to DTD starts. You must bear left after you cross the little bridge and follow the canal all the way to DTD. Unfortunately, it is NOT well lit, so you will want to do this in the daylight. We walk at a pretty good pace, and can get to Cirque du Soliel parking lot in about 12 minutes.

Diane, you aren't walking, you're jogging! :D We went from OKW to SSR in about 15 minutes last July, with DH pushing me in a wheelchair, but it was a relaxing pace. Cuddlemama, go early in the day so that you can get back during the daylight. That path is VERY dark at night, and scary. The ECV won't have any problem at all, the path is very smooth and wide. It tips at a rather invorating angle every now and again, but I had no trouble in a non-motorized wheelchair so the ECV should do fine.

Actually the path is closed at night. When we were there in December I noticed a new sign that said something like "path closed after dark". But you don't want to walk in the dark anyway as there are no lights at all so if you're staying late at DD you will have to take the boat or a bus.

Our last family trip to OKW my DH and I arrived early with 1DD and her 2 DDs, 2DDIL and their 3 DDs. We walked to DTD. It was great. Boats going by tooted and waved at us. We did look like a parade, three strollers and one ECV and DH leading the way! :wave2:
