We are staying at the CBR in Oct. & my DM & DS are staying @ the BWV can we visit there pool and vice versa? I almost positve we can.

WDW pools are posted with signs that say the pool is for the use of the registered guests of that resort. Going to a pool at a resort where you are not staying is called "Pool Hopping" and it is not allowed, except in certain circumstances, which include:
- the pool at your resort is closed for refurbishing
- your resort has a sister resort that you are allowed to pool hop to (like the AS resorts are sister resorts; The 2 Port Orleans resorts are sister resorts)
- being a member of DVC staying on points. DVC members may not pool hop during busy times, can't pool hop at all to SAB or AKL, must call the resort they want to hop to ahead of time for permission and may be asked to leave if it becomes busy - DVC members have posted on the DVC Board that they have at times been told it is too busy or asked to leave.

Since you are going in October, it should not be that busy, so you might be able to call the front desk of the resort you want to go to and they might say OK.

If the family members who are staying at BWV's are DVC members they should be able to hop to your pool at CBR without any problems though as long as they are staying on points;)

If they are under their room occupancy, they should be able to get extra keys for you to use. For example, a 2 bedroom is a max of 8 and they only have 6 people, they can get 2 more keys for you.

... and FYI, that's not a busy time at the rest of WDW, but it is one of the busiest seasons for DVC resorts, which includes BWV. You don't say what part of October, but if it's the 15th on out, I believe BWV is sold out occupancy.

As the previous poster said, if your Mom has say, a 1 bedroom that has an occupancy limit of 4, and only has say, 2 people in it, she can put your name on the ressie and get you a key which would enable you to use the pool.

I agree with Scootch--if your family are DVC members they are allowed to pool hop so they could some swim with you at CBR.

I do not wish to revisit the poolhopping debate. I know what the policy is and I agree with it.

But I would like to relay my experience at the YC/SAB last month as it illustrates there may be some flexibility on the part of hotel admin and the lifeguards.

My brother, who lives in Orlando, was coming to visit me for 2-3 hours one afternoon. The day before I asked the lifeguard at SAB if it was OK to take him to the quiet pool or was that guest-only also. She stated that as I was a guest at YC he could come as my guest to the quiet pool AND SAB,and to come see her the following morning for the wristband,or alternatively I could get him a room key for the day(we had our family of 4 in 2 rooms so this would nave been possible).

Let me be absolutely clear I was not looking for this and did not try to solicit SAB admission for him. I approached her in an attempt to follow the rules, not abuse them. I was not looking to put one over.I realize the problem and unfairness of poolhopping. I am sure some folks reading this night be generating plans as to how they could do something similar.

My original point is that there is either inconsistency in staff's understanding of the rules or perhaps some flexibility when it is not too crowded.

Given the inconsistency, the OP might consider contacting Guest Services when you arrive there to see what is and is not allowed.

awatt--thanks for your psot. However I think it would be more fair to the BC/YC/BCV guests who already have overcrowded pools if the OP's family swam with them at the markedly less crowded CBR pools. Especially if they are DVC members who can do so without having to get any special permission.

Anne

ducklite-you may be right. But my post wasn't directed at fairness. As I said I didn't want to get into that discussion. My intent was to illustrate the inconsistencies at the resorts regarding use of the pools.

Personally if teh pool at CBR is less crowded I would prefer that, even if it is not as elaborate.:D

awatt-

You've hit the nail on the head. :( The inconsitencies in following their own posted and printed rules are what cause a lot of problems. Unhappy guests who can't find chairs, and embarrassed guests who are kicked out of pools.

I was under the impression that the CBR had some pretty nicely themed swimming pools...I haven't been swimming there, but I want to think I remember the main pool having a slide and waterfalls.

just have them ask the resort manager, and go with his/her word. what people tell you you can or cannot do on these boards is irrelevant.

It really isn't inconsistent at all. It's common practice for them to allow guests of a resort to bring in a guest for the day. I've never heard of anyone being turned down, even when those visiting guests are offsite. Perhaps when the pool is very crowded they might say no, but again, I've never read about it on these boards.

It really is as simple as asking at your resort. While the possibility exists, I can't imagine they would tell you no.

I'm glad that they are flexible enough to make their guests trips as memorable and pleasant as possible. After all, this is a vacation destination, not a prison.

Actually I have seen guests of other guests turned away at SAB during the summer peak months.

Someone staying at the BC had friends over from WL and they were turned away at the gate.

The CM said the pool was just too crowded that day to allow guests and those staying at the BC/YC and villas were being admitted.

So it does happen.

Just curious and no disrespect intended does this include everyone?

If not I guess it should have stated, what "some" people tell you you can or cannot do on these boards is irrelevant. :)

I didn't say it couldn't happen, I just said that I'd never seen a post from someone who had made the request and been turned down. I always expect that whenever I post such an inviting statement I'll see a flood of posts contradicting it, but so far it hasn't happened. ;)

Because they have a posted policy restricting pool use, it can happen that someone would get told no. Guests don't have any grounds for complaining if they do get turned down either, but since this guest is going at a slow time, I don't think crowds will be an issue.

Regardless, If I were going to do this, I would never just show up at the gate ready to swim. I'd call first and talk to guest services.

you see, I don't tell people what they can or cannot do at WDW. I tell people that they should ask someone who works there if they have a question, or make suggestions about they best ways to go about things, while others play WDW police squad and tell them what they can or cannot do. see the difference?

I don't see where anyone has told anyone what they "can or cannot do", rather I see where people have posted official policies and alternatives.

CBR's pool is themed with a Pirates of Caribbean/old fort theme. It does have a slide, waterfalls and "shooting" cannons. Pretty neat.

I expect people don't post because if they ask and get turned down, that's what they expected would happen, according to the policy. I think it's much more likely that people who ask and areallowed to swim would post about that. (Plus, one the reverse side, I have seen very few posts where people said "I asked and was told it was OK.")

Anne"

It is what you do constantly.

but, here is an example from this thread of people being told what they can or cannot do:

"Going to a pool at a resort where you are not staying is called "Pool Hopping" and it is not allowed"

but, here is an example from this thread of people being told what they can or cannot do:...
Taken out of context.... again.

Here what was really said in the post you cited (note the last sentence):

The policy was cited... and a loop-hole was also cited at the end. Do you really think Sue was saying "Thou shalt not Pool Hop!" in the post?!?!? Again, the OP was given the whole picture. The more info you can give people, the better they are served.
