Can we take the ME directly from airport to dinner ADR? Also taxi ??

Can we take the Magical Express directly from the airport to the Poly, relax there until our ADR at Ohana's, and then take a taxi after fireworks to POP and check in? Or will that cause problems with our luggage or checking in? Would be be less likely to be granted our preferences by checking in later?

Also, how easy is it to catch a taxi (we need to catch a van rather than a car, because there are six of us) after Wishes or Illuminations? We were thinking it might be quicker and easier than joining the masses in the bus lines. Can we call ahead and reserve one for a specific time, or is it first come first serve? We may leave after Spectro, since we will see Wishes from the Poly on our first night.

We thought we'd walk over to the Beach Club after Illuminations, out of the International Gateway, and catch a taxi there. Is there a hotel outside of the Magic Kingdom that we could consider doing the same? (We stayed at the Yacht Club on our last trip, so are familiar with this area.)

I'm not sure if you could take DME to the Polynesian..you are directed to the bus that goes to your resort. I would think it's a better idea to go directly to POP, checkin, and then head to the Polynesian. You wouldn't even have to go to your room. You could take the MK bus from POP and then transfer to the Polynesian/GF ferry boat. Very nice and relaxing.
As far as grabbing a cab, I'm assuming you will be at MK for Spectro and then want to cab it back to POP? If that's the case, you could walk to the CR, via the walkway from MK and have them call you a cab..shouldn't be difficult. The walk takes about 8 minutes or so.

Good question. I don't think you will be able to because you check in to DME for your resort. They scan your "ticket" when you are getting on the bus; I assume your ticket tells which resort you are going to (which would be OP where you are staying). I would call DME and ask.

I take it that the taxi service works quite well. Hopefully they can drop us off close to our room at the POP. Otherwise it sounds like we might as well stick to the bus for our night at the Magic Kingdom.

Are the fireworks better in the park vs the Poly beach?

The cab will drop you at POP at pretty much the same spot the buses do.
As far as to where is better to view the fireworks...I've seen them from both spots. I like the beach at the Polynesian but not if you have never seen them before. You really should be in the park, at the end of Main St., towards the Castle in order to get the very best effects. It is an incredibly beautiful show. Yes, you will have to put up with a ton of people leaving with you. But, if you aren't in a huge rush to get back to POP, you could grab an ice cream and just sit and relax on a park bench...watch the Castle change colors, watch everyone else leave. Then, as the crowds lessen, slowly make your way to the bus areas. I came to the conclusion several trips ago that WDW isn't the place for rushing from one thing to another...take your time, even if it means you'll have to 'wait' an extra 30 mins or so. Of course, that's easy to do when you've been many times and plan on many more trips in the future.
