Can we start a Christmas recommendation thread?

I'm asking about the Fur Real Friends and the Imaginext T-Rex Mountain

I am interested in the T-Rex Mountain also. I bought it for my Nephew then read the reviews on Amazon. Most say it falls apart easily, but the kids love it. I am having my doubts now.

zalansky-We got DD VSmile for Christmas. We chose that one because she always heads right for it in the store. Plus the games look to be right up her alley. I think this is good for her to learn on because she has not used a game system before and wanted nothing to do with the handheld ones at the store. Maybe next year. :)

Need any ideas for a 12 year old girl. For several years she's been into Bratz but now I have no clue what to get her.

How about the Aquadoodle things I keep seeing everywhere? Would this be good for a 3-4 yo??

Thanks!

My DD got one for her 4th Birthday in August and loves it. :)

One warning about the Clue games. Read the label but I believe that they're all for at least 3 players. I wasn't aware of it when I bought one for DS and it's mostly just sat gathering dust unlike our other games.

Did someone ask if there is a Disney Scene It? Yes! http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/t.../104-5096819-9063942?v=glance&s=toys&n=507846 I've never played it but we've really enjoyed the regular Scene It.

Aquadoodle is awesome! My 2yoa ad 5yoa love them. We have them all!

My kids 2 & 5 like aquadoodle and the aquadoodle coloring mats. It's a good toy to bring to someone's house because it isn't messy!

We are getting vsmile for Christmas this year. DS5 has played it at a friend's house. It makes sense for us, as I know our 2 year old will use it, even if/when DS gets too old. He also has a leapster and likes it a lot, but I wanted something that he can share or that another person can watch. Leapster is totally a one person thing because the screen can't really be viewed from the side.

I'll start:

Does anybody have one of those ATM banks form Toys R Us? (It is in their Big Book) I'd love to hear from someone who has actually seen one of these open...aka does it really work?

It is very similar to one that DD has had for years. I suppose there is nothing "wrong" with it.... just not very exciting. It does keep track of the money going in and it does lock (the kids will probably need help with the combination). We have had it around here for at least 3 years and it is still in one piece!.................P

My 3 year old DGS just loves the one I got him. Don't forget to get a package with extra water pens!

We LOVE Disney Scene it.....it is an awesome game!! We have the Disney Clue....it is also fun!! At the Toys BOGO my youngest HAD to have the Disney Guess Who(see a theme? :rotfl: ) I would say that it is okay for the younger set (about 6-9) but she(10) is already bored with it.

Great thread!!

What about Pixel Chix or the Power Rangers Delta Command Megazoid? My kids are interested in those. Any info?

Thank you for starting this thread.

I am curious about roomba's or any of the other robot vacuums. We are thinking of getting one for my mom this Christmas.

We love Disney Scene=It! too. :teeth:

DD got the Magic Kingdom game last year & we've only played a couple times. The rules are kind of convoluted. :confused3 In the end she made up her own rules. LOL BTW - She's 14.

I don't remember about the regular Clue games, but... We have the Harry Potter games that is very similar & there are rules for 2-players. DD had a travel version of Clue that worked will for 2 players. We still play it in the car sometimes even though it was intended for younger players. DS had a Clue game that was 3-D and had something like Museum Caper in the title. That also worked for 2 players.

Disney SceneIt is a great game! I am the reigning champion in my household.

I'm wondering about the Star Wars Trivial Pursuit on DVD

We have it, and it's been a big hit here with my older kids--and the big one, aka DH. :rotfl: There are some tough questions, but plenty of easier ones for those who aren't as familiar with the movies but have seen them (in other words, ME).

That's good to know because DS really wants it. I'm hoping to find it on a Black Friday list.

Maybe our Clue has two player rules too and we've just overlooked them? I need to check!

I saw a Bratz video game the other day. I can't recall what system it was for but if she has a game system or PC, maybe something like that would work? I like the Nancy Drew computer games for girls that age too and they're not expensive.

I can comment on Scene It Disney version and regular Scene It.

I really enjoy Disney Scene It. It’s a good family game since the kids have a good (probably better than the adults, LOL) chance of getting the questions that are open for everyone. This is good since the kids wouldn’t have to only get to answer the questions on cards instead of the fun ones on the DVD.

I also have regular Scene It. Let’s just say that I’ve seen tons of movies, but apparently not many from this game. I’ve played twice, and both times it took so long to win that we just gave up. We started trying to help each other, and it still took forever. Maybe someone else will have better luck with it though.

Ok, I sure could use some help. I'm looking for a CHEAP MP3 player that is also good and easy to use. No IPod. This is for a 13 year old so I wouldn't rule-out the possibility of it being lost or stolen. When he's older, we can consider spending the big bucks on electronics that are portable. Sony has one and there's another by Creative Labs called the Zen Nano (that actually had good reviews on Amazon.com)

Santa is bringing the whole family a computer. I am clueless when it comes to hardware. I'd love for someone to just tell me what to buy :teeth:

Anyone know anything about Oh geez, the name just went outta my head! It may be Fly Wheels.....it's a wheel/tire that you pull a thing through and supposedly it jumps over cars and such. Any reviews??

The above is a quote from a previous poster, don't know why it didn't show up right.

My DS11 has played with these things for a year+. He likes to make them go over ramps and race with his brother. They are pretty inexpensive, $6 or $7 I think.

Does anyone have info on the Fly Pen? It's a computer inside a pen - you write on special paper and the computer interacts with it. For example - you draw a calculator and by touching numbers with the pen, it actually works. DS10 is very interested in this, but with a $99 price tag, I'm a little leary. So far reviews look good, but I'd like more info - I think it may be a big seller this year!!?? I believe it's made by the same company as LeapFrog products.
TIA
