Hi all! Total newbie - my first post.

The only reservations I could find for dinner between April 12 and 15 at BOG was for 2 people, so I took it. But we have 3 in our group. I called customer service and asked if we could squeeze 3 people in and he said maybe. He said we'll have to ask when we get there, but we should prepare a backup plan for the third if they say no.

Has anyone tried this before? What was the outcome?

Sometimes they allow it, sometimes they don't. There is no way for anyone to be able to tell you now what will happen and the experience of one person really means little. They restaurant has every right to turn away the third person as they do not have a reservation for them and, if they are busy enough, they very well might. I have personally witnessed this happen at BOG and other locations.

So yes, have a backup plan as you may be turned away with the extra person... and if you all walk away, the restaurant also reserves the right to charge you the "no show" fee.

Thank you. We will Not forfeit our table, hubby and I will just have to fight it out over who gets to stay

As much as possible the castmembers at the podium will seat your extra person, but there is no guarantee. It is not a matter of squeezing an extra person into a table for 2, but rather a matter of fire code regulations and/or restaurant staffing. The kitchen can only prepare a certain number of meals at a time so if there are too many "extra" guests seated it would cause delays.

Keep checking online to see if a reservation for your party size opens up because people will cancel if their plans change because of the no show penalty. Since parties of 3 will probably be seated at a 4 top, you can check for a reservation for 3 or 4. You can also check for an additional reservation for 1 at the same time and when you check in, ask to be seated together. You can also subscribe to the April cancellation thread:

If they allow you to bring your third person (which they most likely will), they won't sit you at a 2 top - they will give you a table appropriate for the number of people in your party.

I think the advice you were given by customer service is really right for the situation. Last time I was at BOG, we also had three people and could only get a reservation for two. We asked at the podium if three could be accommodated and sadly they were too fully booked to give us a bigger table. Ultimately, my daughter and I had dinner and my husband went elsewhere to kill time. The table for two was just that -- a table for two. We sat across from one another and waitstaff made use of the aisle space around us. No way could another chair have fit in the space.

But....keep checking the website for a bigger table. People are constantly changing plans and ADRs do become available quite often.

Last May, we had a party of two and a third person decided to join us. We asked at the podium, and they were able to add a person to our reservation and were seated at a table for 4. We had to wait a little longer - I suspect we were actually given a new reservation based on availability. We went in knowing that if we couldn't get the 3rd person in, he would go get counter service somewhere else while DD and I ate.

In terms of BOG, they most likely will not. This restaurant is generally booked to capacity, which is different than being fully booked. WHen a restaurant is at capacity, no one is added at the podium. Fully booked may mean the tables are all accounted for, and if that is the case the CM may be able to add someone at check in. It is never a good idea to tell people that they will be accomodated because lately Disney has caught on that people book wha the find and show up at the door with more people.

what I would do is just use your hubby's MDE profile and make a reservation for 1. BOG is " chose your own seating" so if you can get a reso for 2 and a reso for 1 then you will be all set.

The OP is looking for dinner reservation which is Table Service and not Quick Service so this advice would not work.

Will MDE let me set up 3 different "party of 1" reservations for the same time for lunch? Or will it say I have a "conflict"

Most likely you will have a conflict. I have two MdE accounts for this reason, I often schedule meals for our entire family, but we will go to different restaurants. I use two accounts and avoid any issues.

Thank you! That's a good idea.

Keep checking frequently! We have had great luck finding availability in the last two weeks before the trip, especially right before the cancellation deadline. I had DH set up his own account for this reason. We quickly found separate reservations for 2 and 1, and booked those just in case. Eventually we got a single reservation for our whole party then cancelled the piece-meal ressie's. We did have one set that we couldn't get together (different restaurant), but they had no problem seating us together when we asked at the check-in.
