Can we sleep in our van?

This might be a stupid question, I'll apologize in advance. I just posted another question on a different forum and it got me thinking. Would it be possible for me to rent a campsite at FW and then me and the kids sleep in the minivan? It would only be one night, not worried about showers or anything like that. Breakfast would be poptarts or something similar regardless. And we'll be in the parks all day and up til midnight so exhaustion will make us able to sleep anywhere. I'm amazed at how far I am willing to go to take my kids to Disney and I'm pretty sure my kids would see sleeping in the van as quite the adventure.

We saw plenty of high-end van campers on our last trip, so I don't think that using a van (even if just a regular van) would be a problem. You would be able to use the showers and toilets and all the amenities of the Fort. The biggest issue I would see is the month that you go. I would not use a regular van A/C for cooling with the risk of carbon monoxide poisoning and 6-8 months of the year can be hot at night. In the winter, with no A/C, yeah, I don't see why not - and go ahead and use the amenities!

I don't see why not, if you can sleep in a tent why not a van. And enjoy the Fort if you stay there, go to the pool, use the showers, etc. Just wouldn't do it in too cold weather or too hot either. Though now I see you have 4 kids and one under 1?

Better yet, throw a pup tent (or slightly larger) in the van and set it up anyway. They hardly take up any space. Either way, I wouldn't see any issues except for things like Temperature control like already mentioned.

I have seen people sleep in their SUV there. Go ahead.

You'll be sleeping in a van....DOWN BY THE RIVER!!!!!!

Please just be clear that you can not sleep in the van in order to use the A/C. You could of course sleep in the back of the van with no A/C but depending on when you go a vehicle is going to get much much hotter than a tent. You can buy a 4 person tent for 50 at Walmart. Yes by the time you factor in the $50 and the camping fee then it is the same as Pop or All Stars but the airflow a tent allows would be much much better than a van.

But you don't get to take your room at All Stars home with you to use again.

As mentioned it should be no problem at all except for weather conditions. A couple of years ago, DW and I saw a sailboat on the trailer being used as their RV in the 1800 loop.

we had a converted van back in the 70's-with two beds in back....we camped at WDW in our van...BUT DH made screens for each window with magnets-bugs and skeeters are a BIG thing in FL!

The more I think about this, the more I think, "Why Not?" After all, many of the boats (Sail or otherwise) are quite literally an RV for the water. Put it on the trailer and it's an RV for the land. Right?

Thanks for the responses. I made the suggestion to the kids and DH that we sleep in the van. The kids are more thrilled about that than going to the parks. DH thinks it's weird but he didn't say no. But it looks like my MIL will be staying with us and all the money in the world would not get her to sleep in a van or even a tent so we're probably headed to a value resort. And we actually do own several tents already, I was just thinking that if we were trying to be at the park open to close, at no point would we really have time to set up a tent.

I am really curious if others do this-its late, didn't get a room-lets just sleep in a Camping space?
Would Disney do "rounds" and discourage this?

If people are paying for the camping spot I don't see why they would discourage it. The OP was going to pay for the spot but didn't want the hassle of pitching a tent or the extra cost of a room.

I just can't picture a van that would comfortably sleep 4 kids (one of who is a baby/toddler) and 2 adults.

While I have not seen this specifically done at Disney, I work for a State Park and I see this quite frequently.

me either-maybe lay all the seats down and put blow up mattresses all over?

I can see it. We used to go to races. Sleep in the back of an Explorer with a air mattress. 2 of us and our toddler DS.
