I am hopelessly lost and behind. I thought I was prepared and on track a month ago but multiple disasters have put me way too far behind.

My BIL passed away 2 weeks ago and my DH is the only surviving relative, so all of the arrangements fell upon us. (He was not married nor did he have children.) He fought a long battle with cancer and his last days were very bad for him. We kept a vigil at his bedside for several days before he passed. The arrangements had been planned but it did take more time than I anticipated to work out the details. He deserved our time and respect and we freely gave it.

We knew that he was failing so I made sure to be a week ahead on my Christmas preparations. Unfortunately, our whole family has been passing the flu around for several days and we have had a violently ill person in the house for several days (a defferent one each day). DH was working in the ER today and he feel prey to it. They did IV's, etc... and I had to go pick him up because he could not drive. I am barely doing regular laundry from doing loads & loads of "germ control" laundry.

5 days before BIL passed away, I had an allergic reaction to something the surgeon used when he scoped my stomach. A couple of days of Mom on Benadryl can really bring the house to a grinding halt.

Oh.... and I have an ulcer, according to that little camera. (I can't help but think about Cranium Command in Epcot with the guy in the stomach!) I have had to postpone my follow-up appt with the surgeon from all of the problems. I'm supposed to go tomorrow (Wed) but I will wait to see who is sick and if I can leave.

I have hidden Christmas presents that I cannot find. I'm finding presents that I don't remember buying. .... and I haven't even thought about the batteries!

Add to that snow days out of school, ice, and regular bumps in life's road and that little ulcer is getting bigger every day.

Soooooooooo........... I've wwwwwaaaaaayyyyy behind and could use a few more days to prepare & enjoy this special season. With such a large percentage of the world's population here on the CB, I thought that we could take a vote and maybe change the date this year. OK?!?!?!

(Or maybe I need to stopping DISing and get back to work!)

Hey, I don't mind. I usually stay in holiday mode until after New Year's anyway. :cool1: Hope things start going better for you. Hang in there!

:grouphug:

I'd say you have a good case to postpone things at least until New Years.

heck move it back 2 weeks.. i still need to shop...

 hope all is going a little better for you... so sorry for your loss..

extra P & PD heading your way :wizard:

i'm all for it-in fact i think we should adopt a "leap christmas" policy-just do it up big every 4 years :teeth:

I'll vote for the move! I have cleaning, shopping and baking to do. But you know somehow it gets done. When I start to panic I take a deep breath and drink some wine. After the bottle, er, I mean glass things don't seem so far behind! :teeth:

I agree to move it back a week or two. DH was in the hospital for 8 days and just came home on Friday evening. That put me way behind.

I'm all for moving Christmas forward a week as long as today can still be my last day of work and I didn't have to return until after "new Christmas" - whadda think?

Seriously, I'm sorry for all you've gone through. Maybe this will just be the Christmas that you celebrate being happy and health together, without some of the "extras" you ususally have but don't have time to put together this year.

I will agree to this ONLY if I can still be on Winter Break from school!!! I have no problem pushing Christmas back a week as long as I don't have to work!!! I don't think I could last another week w/Kdg. students who've been hyped up on Christmas since they came back from Thanksgiving break!!!!
