We have family coming with us next time and they have two sons who will not sleep on a pullout couch. Is there any way of getting two beds without moving up to a one bedroom?

Thanks,

JZ

at Old Key West there are two beds in a studio and they are not pull-outs.

Even a 1 bedroom would not give you 2 beds. All of the 1 bedrooms are 1 king and 1 pullout sofa.

No solution, just a question, why won't the kids sleep on a pullout couch, is it like the princess and the pea?

Heck to be at Disney, I would sleep on the floor, and I can't imaging ever telling someone that was nice enough to share with me that my kid wont' sleep on a couch. The meanie in me says.....tough.

I think the DVC resorts have nicer pull-outs than the old bar-in-the-back, flimsy matress couch pull-outs that most people think about when you tell them they have to sleep on one.

And when you move up to a two bedroom, depending on resort and the room configuration, you may end up with two beds and two pullouts - so if you say "we'll upgrade, that way they won't have to share a bed either" - be careful.

As previously stated, only at OKW will you get two real beds in the studio. Be aware though, that MOST of the DVC resorts have wonderful new pullouts that are memory foam matresses, so no bar in teh back, and the cushions make a nice bed too when put on the floor. You don't say how old the boys are, but if they are teens or younger, they will usually be more than happy to sleep under those arrangements.

I would recommend the studio at OKW with the two queen beds. The problem with the studios that have pullouts is that the size of the bed is smaller - full size only. So they will have more sleep space in OKW studio queen beds.

Good luck!

My father-in-law, in his 80's, slept on a pullout at VWL, and had no problems with it. It was a queen-sized pullout. Have not tried the studio pullouts as of yet. Son will this upcoming September at AKV.

Will they have their own studio? And you will be in a seperate room? Maybe you can get a two bedroom?

as had been say only OKW has 2 queen beds.

the other have a double (full) sleeper sofa and a queen bed.

you can bring an air mattress with you. (or buy one at Walmart)

if you really want to do one of the other DVC resorts.

Like others have said OKW has two beds in the studio units. They do not have a couch at all.

I understand not wanting to sleep on a pull-out. The last thing I would want to do after a long day at the parks is to come home and pull my bed out. Just my thoughts!!!!!

Sleeping on a pullout on a WDW vaca is VERY frustrating on MANY levels & I completely understand.

First- you don't have Mousekeeping everyday, so you have to totally unmake your bed every day & fold it up, then come home exhausted & have to pull it out again & make it all over again

Second- yes, there's no bar on these new pullouts BUT these new ones are impossible to keep the bottom sheet on. I'm not a person who moves around in my sleep a lot, but I was still woken up many times in the night because the bottom sheet is all bunched up. :scared1:

Third- no where to sit & you loose ALL the space of the living room

It's a very frustrating experience. That's why I do 2 studios or a 2 bedroom when I travel with family/friends. So I totally understand not wanting a pullout.

maybe they could bring sleeping bags and sleep on the floor:rotfl:

i hope my kids are never that fussy...but you are very nice for trying to accomodate them.

The newest sleeper sofas don't have cushions that remove. They fold up under the bed when you open it.

Actually there's two different types of newer sleeper sofas. As Deb& Bill said, the one type has attached cushions. We found this type at BWV.

At OKW and SSR the newer sleepers still have removable cushions, but fold down from the top (near where a person't shoulders would be when sitting on the sofa), just like the sleeper sofas at BWV.

These do have the memory foam, and do not have the bar in your back like the old sofas did.

Not at OKW. THe cushions still are removed on the new pull outs there. When we last used one of the new sleeper sofas, a small child slept on the cushions while the mother slept on the pull out.

I was just at SSR with my sister in May and I will tell you that the pull out couch was the MOST UNCOMFORTABLE thing I had ever slept on in my life. I ended up having to put the cushions that come off the sofa onto the mattress... it was terrible... the floor would have been more comfortable... the room was very nice though!!

Food for thought, One time the wife and I wanted to watch a movie while at OKW when we were in a 1 bdr so we pulled out the sleeper sofa to relax.

We ended up just sleeping there for the night as it was comfy

Thank you everyone for your insights into this matter.

Unfortunately, I don't think I can convince my sister in law that her teenagers will be fine on the pull-out. No further comment from me on this(trying to be very PC here...)

I guess I need to get a three bedroom. We have to stay at the BCV, BWV or WLV due to requests, so if anyone has points to for that on Aug 13-17 please check out my request on the rental board.
