Can we do Epcot in 3 hours?

Thanks to everyone for their opionions. I almost feel like I have offended some of you epcot enthusiats. I have a 2 and 6 year old. I guess the boring part to me seems like the countries. I can't see my 2 year old or even 6 year old walking throught that for a whole day. If there is that much to do other than the countries then I will give it a try. We can't skip HS we are going for Star Wars Weekend for our son.

Our family with 2 kids LOVES Epcot & never seem to get enough time there.

This year was the first time we did Kim Possible & it was a big hit. We did 3 missions/countries. I think they take aprox 15-25 minutes each missions.

The kids would have loved to have done more but we didn't leave time for it until near the end of our trip.

My kids had only seen the Kim Possible TV show a few times but the Epcot missions were tons of fun for them and made the World Showcase an especially exciting place to explore. They can't wait to go back and try more missions. I hope Disney keeps this going.

I'll admit, I don't envision my 2 year old liking WS very much either. But at the same time, your 6 year old will like it and if your 2 year old is anything like mine, they are interested in the little things anyhow (the ducks in the lagoon, the train set near Germany, the fish in Japan). I would still plan more than 3 hours because the Future World part alone will keep you entertained for that long (both kids will love The Seas pavilion). Even if you hit Future World, go to World Showcase to do the Kim Possible mission and decide you don't need to spend anymore time there, you can always make it an early evening, return to the resort for a swim and get to bed nice and early for an early rise for your next park day.

Years ago Judy and I had a friend who had moved (job related) to the Orlando area but had never been to Epcot.

We met him for breakfast at Chef Mickey and then went to Epcot, getting there at Rope Drop. We stayed to the end of IllumiNations anjd thjen took him back to "decompress" at the CG Lounge.

During the day were went into every pavilion. we actually did about half the attractions, but for most we showed him the pavilion, told him what was in there, and suggested he look at it further on a future visit. We really knew Epcot and were rushed to just hit all of the pavilions and some of the attractions.

And this was at a very slow time of year.

To do Epcot properly you must allow two full days!

In a word....No.

And a few more...Not even close!

On an 8 day trip we typically spend 4 days at MK, 3 at Epcot, and 1 at DHS...we skip AK since, even on a longer trip, we'd rather not skip a day at Epcot to go to AK. There is tons to do there and it's a great park for leisurely walking and exploring. I would say AK is a 1/2 park if you just want to hit the 'highlights'.

Yeah, that! :thumbsup2

On our 10 day trip we spent 1/2 in AK, 2 in HS, and MK and Epcot for the remainder. On our last day we asked the kids where they wanted to go for the very last day and it was unanimous to head to Epcot. No way no how would we skip it... we'd give up AK or HS long before that thought crossed our minds!

I'm not sure you can even do Kim Possible in three hours.

EPCOT is anything but boring. If you have to skip a park, skip DHS. If you have to skip two parks, skip AK, also. EPCOT is amazing in so many ways. Lots of fun, educational rides, thrill rides, the World Showcase, KIDCot, etc. It is worth spending a week at EPCOT, but a day or two will do.

Yup I agree.

We spend 2 days at MK
2 days at EPCOT
1 day at Hollywood
0 days at AK

Sometimes, when we have hoppers, we'll spend 1/2 day at Hollywood and 2 and a half at EPCOT.

I love EPCOT. My two kids love EPCOT. My husband loves EPCOT. :)

How do you spend two days at DHS?

We have never done Kim Possible, probably never will, and have never spent less than 1.5 days at Epcot.

Yup I agree.
We spend 2 days at MK
2 days at EPCOT
1 day at Hollywood
0 days at AK

Since our kids are older now, we spend less and less time at FantasyLand, and more at Epcot and AK.
2 days at AK
2 days at Epcot
1 day at DHS
1/2 day at MK. Maybe another 1/2 to see Wishes.

We love Epcot!!
This year we only have 4 day tickets, and aren't planning to add park hoppers. We plan on-
2 days Mk
1 day Epcot
1 day AK (my son is obsessed with animals!)
1 resort/DTD day

I could easily spend more than 1 day at Epcot, but my kids are still little so MK requires 2 days.

How do you spend two days at DHS?

With a 6.5 y/o so much in love with Indiana Jones that we watched the show 5!! times. Trust me, NOT my idea, but every child got to pick what they wanted to do in each park and everyone else had to suffer through.

The upside was we had GAD FP's for the 2nd day and went on TSM 5 times as well (between both days) and ToT 4 times. My DH chose the stunt show both days, and my oldest Star Tours a handful of times. I completely agree it's a 1 day park, but since we were there for so long we took it all in, and then spent the 2nd night in DTD with an early ADR for Trex. ;)

I'm almost afraid to post since I'm clearly not in the majority here but for what it's worth.............

If your children enjoy rides and shows and parades the most then I do not think Epcot is the best choice and 3 hours could actually be enough (ducking for the tomatos now). We went in December and although I know my kids would've found things to amuse them if we had spent a whole day there, it would never have been their 'favorite', nor would they have been dying to get back for another day. We spent about 4 hours in Future World. We did the 'must-do' rides and we were done. Now had we had unlimited time we probably could have found another couple of hours of good fun but a WHOLE day (or more)? Absolutely not.

Now dh and I most certainly could've spent days in there, no question. But 4 kids between the ages of 4 - 10? Not enough action for them. I have NO doubt that dragging them through the entirety of the World Showcase would've been just that, a drag :rotfl: We however are an example of a family that could easily spend 2 days at HS................my kids don't tire of things they love. Who wants to ride ToT, TSM etc. only once? I don't think 3 times is even enough! Heck, we can even see a good parade more than once in a day and have a ball:)

I guess bottom line is it depends on you and your family and what you enjoy. It may not be enough as most here insist, but it also very well may. For this trip anyway:)

Yes.. if you:
1. Start at Rope drop.
2. Hit the major rides right away.
3. Use the fastpasses..

We are normally done with Epcot by noon, 1 pm easily.. with all major rides done by 11 am.

No offense taken, at least not by me!

Like so many others, we LOVE Epcot and since we have hoppers, we tend to spend at least a part of each day there. I understand your concern about the ages of the kids and the World Showcase...but I have been many times with many kids (nieces and nephews) 8 and under...and they have uniformly LOVED it. There are musicians, and street performers, lots to look at AND there are the kidcot stations in each country. Kids get a mask, which they can color in and get a charm from each country. They actually love it more than you would suspect. It's also sort of a zen experience, particularly for kids who have been overstimulated.

My suggestion would be to do Future World in the am, have lunch, plop them in a stroller and stroll the World showcase. That way they can get out when something intrigues them, but they won't be frustrated by the walking.

Use the last morning to revisit your favs at MK.

But of course you'll have a great time no matter what you decide!

My 5-year old nephew adored Test Track and Mission: Space. We must have ridden Mission: Space a dozen times! He also loved Soarin', and had a great time visiting the countries.

We didn't do Kim Possible until near the end of our trip, but we all loved it! I think, even if I didn't have a child, I'd be happy doing it. Then again, I love geocaching, so I'm a sucker for that type of activity. If your kids like scavenger-hunt activities, or geocaching, they'd like Kim Possible.

Oh, yes, and he loved the Kidcot stops!!

DD and I spent 2 full days and 2 half days at Epcot on her birthday trip, and still didn't get it all done! With kids your age, absolutely Epcot is a must do, even if you skip World Showcase, but it will still take more than 3 hours to do all the fun stuff, especially Innoventions.

Yep! Without a doubt, No.

First you would need to adjust the time down to two hours when you subtract the time to get through security, walk to the back side of Epcot to the entrance/exit again it would most likely consume about an hour alone. Epcot is large and can easily consume one or more days to enjoy. The World Showcase I believe is one mile long by itself.

NO NO NO NO Epcot is up there with Magic Kingdom for us! Honestly, I think we ended up spending more time at Epcot last year. All 3 of us (me, DF, and DD) all love World Showcase, it is beautiful, I could live in WS hahaha.
Not only is WS beautiful and worth every minute, but Soarin' is awesome:lovestruc
And The Seas with Nemo is cute and you'd have to see Turtle Talk, DD gets a kick out of this, I do too, I love Crush!
And Test Track...and Mission Space....and, we just love Epcot!
We always spend half a day @ AK, while it is beautiful and we appreciate it DD is scared of It's Tough to be a Bug (liked it 1st yr, 2nd yr wanted nothing to do with it), she didn't care for the River Rapids, is too little for EE, was scared of Dinosaur, so really the only thing she "must do" at AK is the safari and I like the Nemo show. This time we have to see Festival of the Lion King, still have yet to see that one.
O and also wanted to add that you said you had 2 little ones so at the countries they could make masks and meet the different cast members from those countries, they will stamp your mask and they give you a little item to put on the mask. DD really enjoyed this, we had her say Hi in Mexico, Italy, China, Germany in their native language, the CMs thought it was cute too. And in all of Disney World DD's fav ride is Mexico, not really sure why I will admit other rides in MK top it, but I don't know, she adored it.

I think Epcot is pretty boring, except for a few rides. It is so huge, though that there is no way you could "do" it in 3hours. You need at least a day.

NO. We have been to Disney numerous times, spending many days at Epcot, and we have still not done everything there is to do. :thumbsup2
