my sister and I are planning a short weekend trip in January...we are both members with points at SSR ( which is where we are booking)...can we split the point "cost" between our memberships - each using say, 50 points, to make the reservation? has anyone ever done this?

You can each book 2 or 3 nights then have MS link these two reservations. Or one of you could transfer points to the other's account then book on one reservation. You can not call to book a 100 point reservation asking MS to take 50 points from each account.

My daughter and I did this a couple of years ago but it required transferring the points from one account to the other and then making the reservation. We had a three way conversation going with MS while we made the transfer etc. At that point you now have one cantract that will only be able to transfer points in and one that will only be able to transfer points out for the rest of the year. Good luck and have a great trip.

I've done it both ways - had points transferred into my account and I made the reservation or had someone else book a certain number of nights and I booked some nights and linked them together. I have a trip next month where I booked nights 1, 3 & 4, a friend booked night 2 (a Friday).

I'd decide how many points and who was paying what. Then I'd book the required nights in each account and link them. I'd only transfer if you have a single night you need to make with points from both accounts.

That was exactly our situation at the time.
