B/c you guys seems to be the DVC pros I was hoping you could help.

I know someone with with a couple reservations for Vero Beach this Thanksgiving (11/26-11/30)- 2 studios for 4 nights each.

I wanted to see if they could cancel one and drop the other to three days so we could use the points at another Disney resort. So 11/26-11/29 at Vero and 11/29-12/2 at an Orlando Disney Resort.

Is this possible? B/c the reservations are already made how hard is it to reschedule? I think there would be approx. 80 pnts to use for an Orlando hotel so I would love to get an AK or BW 1 bedroom but would be open to anything- even a studio at SS if that was the only thing available.

Soooo.... I know availability makes this a toss up but can we even do this?

Yes you can cancel a reservation and yes you can delete days on the front or at the end.

Caution, the owner needs to pay attention to what UY the points came from and understand what the status of the points will be after the changes are made.

Thank you Bill- you are always so helpful.:thumbsup2

Can this be done right away or is there a waiting period? I thought I read something about 60 days out but that could be about something else entirely.

If changed 30 days or less before check in the points go into what's called a holding account with special rules.

I would find out what points were used for the original reservations and make the change now. The longer you wait the less availability for the new reservation.

Dec UY would be problematic as the trip goes over the start of the new UY...I believe.

But if you don't own the points and are renting the reservation, it's all up to the owner of the points. If your contract says no cancellations or modifications, you wouldn't be able to change anything. It might just depend on the kindness of the owner.

So- on the availability side- how hard will it be to get anything from 11/29-12/2?

Do you think anything at AK would be available?

less than 4 months out during the absolute busiest period of DVC bookings? at this point, i would expect it to be SSR or bust...

I agree with Charles. The odds are not good. All you need to do is long at the member site to find out.

If you don't own the points, the member you rented from has to look and making a change is up to them.

Thanks everyone for your help. I have part of my vacation secured and the DVC member is looking into a 1 bedroom for me today:thumbsup2
