I hate going to the doctor and I hope my dis friends can help me out. For the past 6 months I have a recurring blister under my tongue. It doesn't hurt, but just feeling it there drives me nuts. When it reaches a certain size, I'll pop it with a needle...very sterile I know. Anyway, when I pop it, it leaves a crater like spot on my tongue. Within a week or two, the blister returns in the exact spot and I repeat the process over and over. It's like that crater never heals itself. I want this thing gone for good! I have never had a problem like this before. I don't have a history of cold sores or anything like that. This really has me stumped. Like I said, it's under my tongue almost in the very center. Anyone have any idea what it could be and why I can't get rid of it? If I need to have it looked at by a professional, do I need to see a dentist or a General Physician? I have put off having to pay a $25 copay for a stupid blister.

If it'll help with a diagnosis, when I pop it, I have to force out the fluid. It's clear but the fluid is kinda thick. Sorry if that was TMI.

You have a salivary gland problem. No it cannot be treated OTC. If it keeps up and is bothersome, you will need to see an ENT or an oral surgeon and they can removed the blocked salivary gland. I only know this because my friend had this and went on for over a year with it. Finally got it removed. It was under his tongue also. This is actually quite common. It was hard for him to get a diagnosis because he would make an appointment and the darn thing would go down and the doc couldn't really see it. He finally got in when it was filled up and they knew exactly what it was.

I would go see the dentist immediately. Wounds that don't heal in the oral cavity are very worrisome. It could be many things, and there is really no way to diagnose without seeing it. It could be anything from an inflammed salivary gland to something more serious. Please get into you dentist right away.

BTW - I'm a dental hygienist and we would see you immediately with these symptoms, no waiting.

When a blocked salivary gland is not inflammed or blocked.....it does not usually leave a crater. It is too hard to diagnose such as this on a message board IMO.

I was afraid y'all would tell me to go to the dentist. Now I just have to find one. The Dentist we used to use and really liked doesn't accept the insurance we have now.

My friend's did. It would fill up internally and externally. When it would "pop", it would leave a dent.

No real doctor will diagnose you over the internet - they can't. And anyone less than a doctor who diagnoses you is unqualified to do so. For you to follow the advice of an UID (Unlicensed Internet Diagnoser) is the blind leading the blind.

Why not just go see your doctor/dentist and get the thing properly diagnosed and treated?

Did she say somewhere that she was going to get a diagnosis and treatment on the internet? :confused3

I'm thinking she's just looking for someone who might have had a similar problem to see what they did for it.

She doesn't know what her problem is, so how on earth could anyone know if their problem is similar? Similar symptoms, maybe, but it is silly (and can be dangerous) to treat yourself. And sillier to take medical advice from UIDs.

Everyone gets an opinion. Mine is that the OP should think about going to a doctor/dentist for her troubles.

And she did get a diagnosis and treatment option:

Yes, she did!!! Naturally she should see a doctor but I don't think asking for possibilities is a big deal.

Check out the ads!!!! :lmao: (at the top of page 1...herpes ointments!)

Please see a doctor or dentist. It could be a sign of a bigger problem and you really shouldn't wait on something like this. Not to scare you, but I wouldn't take it so lightly.

Ludacris, you are baaaadddd! lol :lmao:
