Can this be right? Park Hopper vs UPH

I'm just begining to plan a trip for myself, my husband, my sister and cousins, and trying to find some cost-saving measures

I was looking at Deb's site and it said a 5 day park hopper plus is 300, where a 4 night, 5 day UPH is 275. I had always assumed the UPH is a bad deal, but this seems like a no brainer?

Should we go with the UPH (I think we'll be staying at pop or por)?

If you are likely to use all of the days of the hopper, then the UPH is probably the way to go, If you might take a break and do a water park and not a regular park, then the normal PH is probably better.

The UPH is less flexable in that reguards, and if you don't use it everyday there, it will actually cost more than the non expiring PH.

Actually, it looks to me like the 5 day/4 night UPH and the 5 day Park Hopper Plus are the same price.

Advance purchase price on both is $275, at gate or checkin price is $300...

We loved the UPH. That way we could park hop or go to a water park and then hit the parks later in the day.

Kids also did Disney Quest. If you aren't planning on going to a park one day that regular tickets are best.

IMO if the prices are the same or practically the same I would only buy the regular PH if you plan on saving a day for the future - if not I would definitely buy UPH to have DisneyQuest included if you plan to go there.

The 5 day park hopper plus comes with two plusses, so you are getting 7 days of activities compared to 5 days of unlimited acitivies. No longer a no brainer. The park hopper also doesn't expire.

By the way, I recently purchased the 7 day park hopper plus(4 plusses) for $297 from Hotwire. Do a search for "Hotwire park" under the budget board to get the website. You do need to join the membership($7), but first month is free and you can cancel anytime.

Unless it is part of a package deal (eg. buy 4 stay 7 deal) I will always go with the PH plus instead of UPH. I look at it as an insurance policy. If something happens such as illness, REALLY bad weather, etc. I can always use the pass at another time :D

You loose the days when you leave Disney with the UPH :(

With the UPH, you also get entrance to DQ at no extra cost. You have to pay extra with the Park Hopper. Get the UPH and do it all.

Park hoppers are good if you plan to return, have a change of plans etc.

UPH, however, have one advantage. If you lose it, like in the Fastpass machine for example, it is a piece of cake to replace it. Not so with the park hoppers.

We're doing a crazy three day trip in September for DH's birthday. I usually have an AP (:( ours expire Aug 17 with next real trip really planned for April, won't get another until then), or love the 5 day plus four park hoppers. But with the advance purchase price of $171, the UPH will give us the freedom to park hop and maybe catch some later hours at PI, or even a water park if Don wants to float on a lazy river for a little bit. It seems like such a hassle to find the 3-day hoppers now.
