Can they really apply AP rate to existing AAA room-only ressie?

I called yesterday afternoon and got an AP rate for courtyard view at WL, which was the reservation I had already, just at a AAA rate. I could see the availability on the website, so I know it was available.

But the CM told me he could just "apply" the AP discount to my ressie and my deposit would not have to be credited and reapplied, and my confirmation number would be the same. This makes me nervous. I thought you could never just "apply" an AP rate to an existing reservation.

And I checked on the WDW website this morning, and my itinerary doesn't say anything about Passholder rate - should it?

It's a room-only ressie, by the way. Thanks!

Yes, I've done that before. When we went last year, we booked about three months before the AP discount came out and they just applied it to our reservation with no problems.

We're HOPING to do this again - when the AP codes come out for our January ressie!

So it's OK that my online itinerary doesn't say Passholder? That makes me feel better that someone has actually done this, though. Thanks!

I have been wondering about this too. If I make ressies now adn then an Ap rate comes out later I can apply that rate then to my room? It ill not be contigent upon there being anymore rooms left still available?

Wondering because friend has a ressie for Poly and tried to apply the Disneyy Visa discount to it and they wouldn't do it no rooms at the special rate left. She's stuck with rack rate. Worried AP rate will be the same.

had couple cm's explain over the years:

*that there are a certain # of AAA rate rooms available @ each resort on any given night. Rooms that are booked & then cancelled do not go back into the AAA inventory but, usually, into regular pool of rooms @ rack rate.

**they don't so much as "cancel" your room but, modify it using different AP code (if the AP disc. rate allocation is still avail).

**if you flip from a room to pkg, I was told that they cancel origin. res. & rebook, refunding 1st deposit entirely.

The above was reiterated to me yesterday by a supervisor.

That's exactly what I did. I had two reservations for POR. One from Nov 23 - Nov 25th and one from Nov 26th - Nov 28th. Originally the AAA rate was $133 a night for the first 3 days and $111 a night for the last two.

I called disney yesterday and applied the AP rate to the last two nights (no AP rate for the first three) which made it $99 a night. Same reservation, same confirmation, deposit goes towards that instead of the original rate.

Today I called and got the Florida Resident Rate applied to the first 3 nights (I was shocked it was available, and yes my SIL and BIL which are part of the trip are florida residents) and that made the first 3 nights $119 for each night.

I was happy with the rates, and it was super easy to change.

Hello,

Yesterday I called and had the AP rate applied to my original AAA room-only reservation at AKL. I have the same confirmation number and my original deposit is still valid.

Yesterday I was told that I could review my updated reservation on the WDW website today (they said it would take 24 hours to reflect the change). I checked the website this morning and it wasn't yet updated so I called back to make sure I still had the updated AP rate instead of the AAA rate. They said I have the AP rate. I asked why the website was not updated yet and they said that yesterday they were swamped with reservations changes and requests because of the AP codes being released and they said it may take 48 hours for the website to update. In the meantime they are suppose to be faxing me a copy of my new confirmation (which they said would also take ~24 hours to get since fax requests are put in a que).

Anyway, I am also waiting for my reservation to be updated on the WDW website showing my new rate etc., but according to the CRO person I spoke with my new rate is in their system.

Hope this helps.

Tracey
