Can SW credit funds be used by another person?

Our son's family can get one-way tkts back home on AA for about the same price that they paid for SW when booked last June. (They booked their tkts as one way on both ends, instead of round trip.) However, they don't have any trips planned for the near future in order to use this credit. I would like to go to the Flower & Garden Expo at the end of April. Would a friend & I be able to use this credit to purchase our SW tkts? If so, then we would pay our son what the tkts would cost. (They really want the AA tkts because they would be leaving 5 hrs later than what their SW departure time would be. However, they can't justify paying an add'l $457 at this time.)

So my questions to those of you who have experience with this: Can other people use the credit funds from cancelled tkts? Is the time frame in which to use these funds 1 yr from the purchase date of the original tkt? If not, what is the deadline?

Yes you can use the credits (unless they've changed something drastically in the last few days). You, when I've done it in the past, need the cancellation number and the last name they were booked under.

Thanks! I knew we used some SW credits about 5 yrs ago to book a flight for someone else, but I was worried that might have changed.
